Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

To everyone who's all for wolfenstein, would you recommend it to someone who isn't a big fan of shooters? Like is the strength the gameplay or the narrative? I'm not very good at shooters, but I'll play and enjoy shooters with narratives like bioshock and last of us. I've heard such good things about wolfenstein should I buy it?

Yes to all of that. Both gameplay and narrative. Recc if you're a fan of peripheral story stuff outside of cutscenes like NPC conversations or newspaper clippings recounting all your previous missions and other details of the world and an audio diary series that reveals a big thing about one of the characters. Blazko is one of the best FPS protagonists in a while, also loads of great women warriors that are deeper than "strong female hero". Loads of little touches and details. Two timelines with different characters and cutscenes and collectibles, that all transfer between each playthrough. Infinite Ammo and extra modes are too legit.

Better than Half Life 2.

How did you find out it was on a deeper temporary discount? It was just luck for me. It makes me wonder what else is on a deeper temporary discount.

I have no clue about that specific game you're talking about but a good rule of thumb for these things is if something is on a daily etc to check games made by the same developer or in the same franchise or whatever

then you check the sale expiration date on the games themselves and see if it says 24 hours or whatever

for example there's a ton of might & magic games that are dailies right now that aren't featured

Is there a Steam Gems thread this time around?

I did get Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey for $3.60 yesterday. It's back to $4.79 today but that's still cheap.

We could use one, I'm not liking at all the daily offerings... We need a GAF discovery sale or something.

I see the featured daily deals have "Check out recommendations for you" splitting them in half. For those lazy browsing in laptops that are 768p that means you only get to see one half and are forced to scroll down to see the rest...

I'd really like to learn more about the hidden gems out there. The monthly Steam thread is way too nutty for me to get through.

to be honnest, I can't remember the last steam sale that was actually worth it, last holiday season I spent my money on Amazon and GMG and it seems that this year will be GMG only

I have really been missing Amazon for deals this year, it is only going to get worse this Christmas.

Wasteland 2 is at -25% off (€29,99 instead of €39,99) right now, did it go any lower before?

I want to bite but I can't afford too many games at such a high price at the moment with Smash Bros coming out tomorrow and the upcoming Winter Sale on Steam.

The game is fun but still pretty buggy (of the game stopping/get used to frequently reloading your save sort) last I checked, maybe better to hold out for as long as you can.

That sounds horrendous! Okay, I will wait then. But it's still pretty tempting since what I've seen of it in LP videos looked like a really solid game.

Can anyone comepare MMX with Legend of Grimrock 2? I could be persuaded on MMX at 75% off but I've really been wanting Grimrock 2 on sale to get my Grid-Party RPG fix.
I haven't played Grimrock 2, but M&MX is pretty fundamentally different from Grimrock 1. The most important difference is that M&M is entirely turn-based, so the battles never turn into keyboard dancing exercises. It's also more exploration (there are multiple towns, a relatively large overworld, and many dungeons) and combat focused, and less focused on puzzles.

Anyway, M&M X is really good, and absolutely worth it at this price if you have even a passing interest.

Thanks, might check it out.

It looks slow but when a weapon connects it doesn't seem all that satisfying.
It's not bad. Depending on the weapon you can stagger enemies more quickly (one hit vs 2 or 3 with small weapons such as daggers, but of course those smaller weapons are faster and can do quick succession of hits). Not quite as satisfying as Souls games but the combat is solid.

Durante covered the differences pretty well. But it's definitely worth it, having played both this year (and loving both) I'd give the edge to M&MX.

M&MX seems cool so far but holy cow are the graphics bad, I'm really surprised from a pretty modern title.
It's not that bad. You have to consider that it's a rather huge game made on a tiny budget.

Wolfenstein's Price is good now. Will this game run/look as good or better on my rig as ps4?

Picked up some good stuff so far. Also checked GMG's VIP sale and picked up Evil Within and Wolfenstein for $16.10 a pop. I'll jump at that price. =)

It's not that bad in those screens, and good to see there is environment variety. That was just my first impressions of the opening area, it really reminded me of something that would come out 10 years ago or so around Morrowind's time.

You won't regret, it's fucking awesome. I cleared it on Insane on my first run. God, I was crazy.

Ya I've been wanting to buy it for a while now but have been really stingy with my money. I actually feel guilty waiting so long and spending only $4 on it now. Is it still fun on the hardest difficulty or does it become a chore?

Is it worth it to get the deluxe version of M&M X?

You get Might & Magic VI which is a 100 hour amazing RPG, if you haven't played it that's one hell of a bonus.

As for the DLC you get, the dream shard dungeon is pretty small, an hour tops. The Falcon & the Unicorn DLC is a good 5 hours or so.

I have the same specs as you, but with the 4gb 670. I wasn't too happy with the performance of Wolfenstein considering how it looked. Turned down quite a few settings, but never managed to get a solid 60 fps. My framerate was all over the place, and would really tank in the "hub" area of the game. It wasn't bad enough to deter me from playing the game, but it was frustrating.

Hm Lords of Shadow 2 worth £5? I imagine most is right guys?

Hope Dishonored is good. Got it for 3.99 at GMG.

Dishonored is a masterpiece. If you care, go look for config edits which'll help improve the graphics quite a bit and lower the brightness to 13 notches. Sounds weird, but it looks way better and less washed out that way.

Enjoy it!
