Super Smash Bros. for Wii U |OT| True Potential of Smash Bros.

As usual, complaining on the internet works.

For Fitness Junkie on hard: At the start of the fight roll back towards the edge, one of the Warios should jump onto their bike and attempt to turn around but be forced to dismount. Grab him before he lands and throw him off the screen. With Wario #2 you'll want to keep abusing your dash attack and hammer him before he can get up from your previous attack. If all goes well you should be able to push him to the blast zone.

-Game is STILL not up to par with Project M as far as gameplay/technicality is concerned. Possibly more balanced at release? But nowhere near the precision/speed/technicality allowed for in Project M, which is sad Sakurai didn't take 90% of the overall gameplay pointers from that mod, would have made this truly god-tier.

What exactly do you mean when you say Sm4sh isn't on par with the technicality/speed/gameplay/precision of PM?
It runs at the same frame rate, it offers more stable online play, it has custom moves, and equipment can make the game faster. I don't get it, objectively you're wrong here. I don't understand the mindset some players have about PM, why would you ever consider that Sakurai might include elements of PM when it isn't something they worked on? No offense but you are acting like Miyamoto should have taken 3D dot heroes into account when making ALBTW. Wait, actually that's a bad example because it's an actual game, as opposed to a mod running on brawl disc/dolphin. I have the utmost respect from the guys behind PM, but they didn't build anything from the ground up, they have only made derivative works based off of smash. Why should Sakurai implement 90% of his ideas based on a mod? Stop setting yourself up for disappointment, why would it ever happen?

-Ice Climbers and other Brawl chars missing, imo all mainline entries ought not drop chars but refine them and add new ones.

Agree with IC, but let's wait until DLC is done to see how this pans out for the rest of the brawl cast.

-8-Player Smash = Dumb idea, no reason why 4-player shouldn't have been kept in place, 8-player is mindless dumb/unfun imo chaos. Not a skill-based or fun battle, period.

Have you not seen any of the videos of pros doing 4v4 yet? Very exciting high level team play with chaotic yet playable craziness. 4v4 and 3v3 are what this mode is made for. Get some good players together and try it, it's reaaaally good. I wouldn't be so quick to write off what could be the next step for competitive smash in esports.

-Fucking dumbass Mewtwo DLC, why not free update for both versions, it's just one fucking character!? Why not add Mew? Why not add Oni Link from Majora's Mask people have been asking for since forever (not a reskin of Link, but totally different move set, animations and everything) = DLC that's worth it. Also wouldn't be bad a idea to split to online player server a and add in the ability for people to use a SD Card to add the Project M movement and overall changes calibrations into the game for people who'd enjoy playing that way. = Nintendo listening to it's most rabid players and doing something "innovative" they keep chirping about.

Where to begin, how can you be mad about the Mewtwo DLC? I'm still ecstatic we are getting DLC for this game at all. Why not add mew or Oni link? What the actual fuck? What does that have to do with anything? I'm sorry that Sakurai didn't make this game with only you in mind, the game was made as a business decision so I'm sure that lots of people didn't get the hard they wanted .If I get Mewtwo for free, that = great DLC for me as I was assuming Id have to pay for it. If you're just salty because you don't want to have to get both versions then I'm sorry because you're missing out on a great game on the 3DS. The portable experience is really good and I'm still playing smash 3DS even after getting the Wii U version.

-And now, lackluster button mapping for the Wiimote+Nunchuk combo even Brawl did better than this.

Sure, that sucks. I'm using the pro controller now so I use c-stick for that but I hope they patch that in for you. More control options are always a good thing. I'm sorry but this game just doesn't sound like its for you. It's for quite a lot of people, but I don't see how this game could have satisfied you short of using your specific character list and DLC plan and accommodating a mid most of the games audience and JP competitors don't care about.

I just threw em both and called it a day >.>

Wii Fit trainer vs. 2 Giant Warios The two do not get off your case for even a second, and they tend to coordinate their smash attacks, so if you get hit at all, you're basically fucked. You can imagine how easy that is considering Wario has barely any move telegraphing.
Walk to the edge of the map and shield grab. Easy win.

Now sitting at 137/140 challenges. All I need are the 700 trophies challenge, the 300,000 gold challenge, and the all custom moves challenge.

What is the best way to grind for custom moves? It seems that they don't drop nearly as much in Classic Mode as they do in the 3DS version, and if they do it's usually only pertinent to the stage you're playing on, instead of the character you're using.

I do get a lot of custom moves in Crazy Orders, and trophy rush in the Wii U version seems to drop more trophies and custom moves than the 3DS version. I already completed custom moves of 20 characters while only finishing 10 classic modes.

120 challenges done, 20 agonizing ones left, haha. I used one golden hammer on the "clear All-Star on Hard with everyone" challenge as I hate grindfests, but now that I've done All-Star on Hard with eight characters (including Duck Hunt, who has an amazing f-smash) I'm kind of sad that I used that hammer. It's a very doable challenge once you know the levels well and you know how to read the AI; it just takes a while to complete.

I've yet to do all the Smash Tour challenges as well. That mode bores the fuck out of me. Ugh.

I managed to clear Classic on 8.0 with my boy Ganondorf, but oof, it's so damn hard when you go beyond 7.0. Master Fortress ain't nothing to scoff at either; there's a lot of things in there that insta-kill you :/

Anyway, fantastic game. And I've got a GameCube adapter so I'm now playing this with my trusted Wavebird and all just feels right in the world. I just got the Galacta Knight trophy for completing all events properly, and that felt orgasmic.

God I just had a absolutely traumatizing experience online D: I was doing For Glory 1v1's trying to practice Zero Suit Samus. Eventually I ended up fighting against a Pink Ribbon Jigglypuff named Spoon and we ended up playing for 40 minutes... His fighting style... all he ever used were aerial normal attacks and it was terrifying, I could often do nothing against it at all and caused 0% damage while I had 70%+ already... still it was a good training session and taught me quick evasions with rolls :P

The one single time I did beat him, was such a "YES!" moment that I complete dropped the ball afterwards but hey I felt good and think I'm a better player now :)

I had a similar experience against a Sheik a few hours ago. I could see what he was doing, but for some reason I couldn't shut the **** down! I might record it and upload it to youtube to get some feedback on how to deal with that kind of pressure.

Which challenges did you hammer?

-Complete All-Star with all characters on Hard (I did this in the 3DS version, but it's a lot more difficult in this game. It seems that they improved the AI a lot).
-In Trophy Rush, get a chain of 100 without taking damage as Samus (falling blocks can hurt you, so this was going to be annoying).
-Collect all headgear (lol no)
-7.0 Classic with all characters (possible, but maybe too time consuming).
-Destroy a total of 50,000 blocks in Trophy Rush (I average like 300-400 blocks per round. This will take over 100 tries to complete).

Admittedly, I could have done the Samus one by myself if I persisted enough, but whatever.

Man, I can't believe you wasted a hammer on that Samus challenge.

Took me, like, three tries.

Yeah, I guess I was a little premature in that, but it's OK. I was gonna get all trophies and custom moves regardless, and I can grind Spectator Mode to get 300,000 gold (which wasn't hammerable anyways).

Man, I wish there was a Master Core-related event. I'd love to be able to fight him and learn him properly without having to go through Classic Mode time and time again.

Is there a trick to Spectator Mode? I only lose money when I try it, hahaha.

Head's up for anyone interested, the collector's edition strategy guide is less than $15 at Amazon if you use promo code HOLIDAY30. Just bought it myself. Apparently has a foreword from Sakurai!

heh thanks... Importing this from Amazon US is cheaper than getting it from Amazon UK lol

Fitness Junkie is a tremendous pain in the ass

It's called Fitness Freak in the EU version.

It really annoys me how many things are named differently in our version. Even some of the titles in the Boxing Ring stage are different from the USA one.

I did that one by waiting near the blast zone, throwing one into it followed by a Smash. The second one was easier to fight as it would get distracted by healing items.

This connection crap is frustrating as all hell. If anyone is still up for helping me, please do. <:-) I'm kind of a noob with this stuff.

For info, read my posts on the last page.

Does anyone know of any stores that might be stocking Gamecube controller adapters for Black Friday? I remember back when Skyward Sword came out, the special edition with the CD and Wiimote were sold out everywhere, but WalMart stocked some for Black Friday and that's how I got mine.

Some of these challenges are getting a little ridiculous. I'm not good enough to do some of these and I don't wanna use hammers. Sakutai plz.

I had to drive for 6 hours to multiple stores to find a GameCube Adapter, so.......yeah.

Good games, Beats! Your Olimar (or, well, Alph) was pretty solid; most of our matches were pretty close.

I need to work chasing off stage with Pikachu...though I also gotta work not accidentally SDing with him too haha.

GGs TWILT. I had trouble against Shulk with Olimar. I did learn that his Up-Smash covers much more than what's shown on screen. Felt like my play was deteriorating towards the end of the set though. > . <

I think with Pikachu d-throw or up-throw can combo into thunder. And if it spikes the opponent back down you can up-smash right after. Might be good to try if you're having trouble ko-ing.

The samus one is so damn annoying because you can't just quickly restart due to how the mode works, but at the same time a 100 chain isn't too bad and I did it multiple times with other characters. But some bullshit always hits me as Samus. :x

I really don't want to hammer it though. I'm at 91/140 without using any hammers yet, I want to make sure I'm using them on the really shitty ones since a good chunk of these are in that target blast/multiman modes which I haven't really focused on at all. 7.0 Classic will likely be one since I did it with a ton of people on lower difficulties already. I need to see a full list for the rest.

Is all headgear separate from all custom outfits? I have the latter already.

Did you ever find it?
After picking up Smash U from Best Buy in the Woodlands (& got my coin), I was told the Adapter was sold out. They put one on hold at another Best Buy, but some asshole swiped that Adapter before I arrived. I was then told by a GameStop employee that Fry's might have some, so I journeyed over there & checked various GameStops, Targets, & Best Buys along the way. None had it, & Fry's only had ones that were put on hold since this morning. In desperation, I looked through GameStop's site & found one in stock (& promptly put it on hold). Unfortunately, said GameStop was located in the far-off town of Liberty. After driving 50 minutes to get there, I finally got the Adapter (& filled up gas afterwards). I did all this on an empty stomach that almost made me pass out along the way, & the fact that my home is near Cypress. I spent 6 hours on the road (left at 9am) just to get Smash U & the Adapter.

Fortunately, the hell I endured was worth it. The game is fun, the Adapter works like a dream, & I got food the second I returned.

Holy crap we played for a long time. GGs Chaotic, kicked my ass a lot lol but lots of practice for me against... me.

If I have to actually explain why Project M is more skill-based/faster/technically superior I'll just assume not and let you play it yourself for a long stretch then go back to vanilla Smash4... That needs no explanation. Objectively right is actually the proper terminology? Can you do all the advanced techniques allowed for in PM? If not my point stands regardless.

Have you not seen any of the videos of pros doing 4v4 yet? Very exciting high level team play with chaotic yet playable craziness. 4v4 and 3v3 are what this mode is made for. So? There's supposed "Pro CoD tournaments" too, whereas the relativity of this thinking gets us to a point where some would argue it's just as much of a skill-based game as Quake 3 or Unreal Tourney. But that's another argument, point is, I don't give a shit about 8p Smash, so we'll just agree to disagree. I'd rather watch pro's do 1v1 rather than anything in Smash. Different strokes.

Where to begin, how can you be mad about the Mewtwo DLC? I'm still ecstatic we are getting DLC for this game at all. Why not add mew or Oni link? What the actual fuck? What are you even talking about, moreover why are you defending a company over your own and fellow customers self interest, playing devil's advocate for a company and doing a terrible PR job at that. We all understand the concept of "business", we forget that concept of NOT playing devil's advocate or defending a company in any way when we feel our self interest financially is being compromised. Mewtwo is only 1 char...how much you imagine their going to charge? I bet more than $1. And my examples of two other characters the community would love, Mew and Oni Link, would be great, as well as adding back all the left out Brawl cast with balanced move sets. I mean, fuck Oni Link has been wanted since Melee, would three totally new chars plus all axed chars from Brawl not be a worthwhile DLC to pay $5-$15 for? Rather than just fucking Mewtwo, gimme a break? Better than dropping $30 on the 3DS version for sure just for one stupid char. So am I thinking "personally", you damn right, but I'm also think what would "realistically" be universally viewed as a good investment into potential DLC options considering price.

Me too, and like I said I hope to see the Homebrew option that's upcoming alleviate a lot of these issues with the new Riivolution which allows for custom "patches/fixes" and allows modders to actually fix games to a certain extent. I think the DKC: TF Riivolution patch will be the first to release actually.

Ho boy a PM fight...

GG Vern for some reason I'm terrible at Robin dittos but good against everyone else as Robin.

Thanks for the matches though.

You gave me plenty of practice on short hopping lol, and I learned a few tricks from how you were using Robin. Of course, you utterly wrecked me with that Mario lol.
