I wonder if they are going to expand on the whole "Butter saw Bolin and Varrick blow themselves up" angle. Can't exactly go telling Korra that her friends are dead anymore.

It'll probably be something dumb like "I saw you blow up" and Bolin makes a stupid joke.

attempted to assassinate a dictator that puts people into re-education camps...

yes, attempted to assassinate a psychotic war criminal.

Still, when she decided to do that you'd expect there to be ramifications if you failed, especially because they fell for a trap in the most ridiculous manner possible.

I wonder how zaheers levitation thing works. Like, we got an explanation for the other sub bending abilities, but all we're told is zaheer let's go of his earthly tether. OK, but what does that actually do?

Yeah I wish they had shown some airbending around him or something. I actually thought his flight looked somewhat ridiculous in season 3. I think it made total sense and looked great in this last episode though. Levitating while sitting cross legged looked legit.

Review roundup for the latest episode.

A great episode builds up anticipation for the next, and my excitement for Chapter 10 is piqued after what “Beyond The Wilds” sets up. Lin, Opal, and Bolin on a covert mission. Varrick and Asami teaming up to protect Republic City. Korra back at full power, power that Zaheer describes as limitless. The future sounds thrilling, and after an emotionally charged episode like “Beyond The Wilds”, I can’t wait to see what this show’s writers have in store for the final four episodes.
AV Club

This week's Korra was a return to form for the animated series, after two good-not-great episodes. Between the spirit vine situation in Republic City and the President's decision to reinforce the city, it's clear we're in the home stretch of Book Four. "Beyond the Wilds" had tons of great character moments, including Varrick and Asami's reluctant team-up and Opal and Lin's secret mission plan. Of course, the standout sequence this week was Korra and Zaheer working together to get Korra back into the Spirit World, which led to a breakthrough for Korra.
IGN

Prime 'Legend of Korra' is the fusion of philosophy, meditation, and animated wonder. “Beyond the Wild” delivers on all three, a momentous blast of positive energy before Korra inevitably confronts Kuvira. A line to Mako on embracing the past, not trying to eradicate its darkest moments, is a lesson most adults can't learn, let along the kids who may be watching the show in their developmental years.

Also another episode of Korra forgetting to tell Lin that her god damn mom is alive

Too busy playing with Naga.

How can somebidy say a good thing about Zaheer commenting on unlimited power? This is not a good thing. Korra wins battles with pure strenght, might makes right, yes?
Take the limit from her brain, not from her power.

i assume its using airbending to affect air pressure that is enough to mess with gravity's effects and allow him to be light (kinda like going in space where the gravity/air is less the further you go)

just pulling things out of my ass here :p

I was quite amused by the way Korra used earthbending to play with Naga. One of those things that seems so obvious but you never would have actually thought of it.

The animation may have been a bit iffy in parts of today's episode but they sure did a great job with the hair in it.

Mannnnnnnnnn Toph is 100% correct. Korra is the worst Avatar ever.
Side note Meelo only gets better with age. They need more of him on the show.

Nah Kuruk still holds that title. Korra hasn't gone around challenging random fire citizens to Agni Kai or fighting random spirits because she's bored like Kuruk did.

Book 1 ends
"seriously? She just gets her power back? Bullshit, It wouldve been amazing to have book 2 focus on her road to recovery, a deep emotional, self discovering quest, that's what this stupid writers needed to do"

Book 4
"Fuck this Shit is slow, get over it already!"

This fandom man lol

I agree, but its also about how they do it.

That was all back before everybody realized how bad the writing and pacing for most of the series would be.

You're looking at it wrong.

Book 4 is the end, at this point in the story it should be ass kicking and balls to the wall. Its not the best point in the story arc for this. Book 2 would have been the ideal spot in the story arc to put a slow recovery storyline.

I'm not hating on it or complaining about it, but there was a more ideal spot to put this kind of storyline in the overarching 4 book story arc.

Its just fine, this is pretty much what one should expected of a character arc like this, except for the clip show, all episodes have been a small step towards recovery, building up for a grand finale.

You recover little by little, sometimes you even go some steps back before advancing again.

The complaints feel ridiculous to me. I wonder when are we going to reach the point of whining because the shape of a sword is different than in TLA

I get the arc, it does just seem really slow though and this would be all fine if they weren't pissing away whatever potential Kuvira had. Character recovery is fine as long as you balance it out with a likeable enough cast.

Not even once? That's cold.
Kya was briefly in episode two. They literally shipped her off on a boat. Just started watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. They really should've written Kuvira like Dio. I mean if you're going to make a villain make him despicable as fuck within the first 15 minutes, because damn. Dio is an off the charts asshole and I haven't even finished the first episode yet.

Sometimes I think I'm the only person on GAF who doesn't think this show is garbage.

Yeeeeah. It's a shame it had to happen in the final season, but I don't think her recovery arc has been all that terrible. The calls for her to just get over it and beat Kuvira already really did get on my nerves as I lurked in this thread.

Because at that point there was time for her to grow as a character. Leaving it to your last season to actually give your protagonist any actual character development and doing it in such poor way at the expense of the plot as well is mind boggling.

Oh sure, everyone here can write a better plot in 15 minutes judging by all the comments.

Im just saying this terrible, horrible putrid excuse of a plot is pretty enjoyable the way it is. Despite its flaws.

The way you talk about it, this seems like a sequel on the level of Eureka Seven AO in a awfullness, when its actually a good show.

Yeah, no fuck this so much.

Tired of people trying to make criticisms invalid by ignoring context. If you don't have any issue with the show, that's great. But not everyone that has issues with it are doing it just to complain, or are being unreasonable in their criticisms. Jesus Christ. Always seems to be the same 2-3 posters that pull this shit too. Drive by posts complaining about people in this thread complaining.

I don't even care anymore, because I don't have the patience. Will be my last post in this thread. So yeah fuck this. Go stick your head in the sand and continue thinking this is god's gift to animation.
