I'll help, I think we had:

-TLG
-Guerilla Games Game
-Crash Bandicoot
-Resident Evil 7
-Final Fantasy 7 Remake
-Street Fighter V

Going by this tweet:
"I know what it is and I can tell you that it will actually make a lot of noise ( and people will rage ) . # RTPrécédent"

Some big 3rd party game will go PS4 exclusive.

People would be mad about SFV but I think it would have to be even bigger than SF to induce a complete rage.

Oh lol. Sony can't afford Mass Effect
Too much $$$ is needed to buy that as an exclusive.

The notion that they could not is silly, they could the question is if they would.

Sure they can. Mass Effect was never a big seller. It's one of the few IPs that could actually benefit from focusing exclusively on 1 console.

I don't think its a good idea though. IP started out on Xbox and that's where most of the fanbase is.

This is the one game I hadn't thought much about as far as being an exclusive especially for the PS4 if this were it would produce the type of rage that we have been told is coming.

Final Fantasy Tactics sequel!

War of the Zodiac Crystal, Yes please.

Ha, a doge... :D
I'm also looking forward to it. Just two points to worry about...
1. The game is huge. Don't make it like Destiny... you know why...
2. I extremely love Killzone 2 and Killzone SF's multiplayer mode, and got Pt. trophy for them. But for the story mode, it's not fun.

I didn't play Destiny, but it seems the major complaints were the story (or lack thereof) and the mission design, yes?
Guerrilla hired the writer of Fallout: New Vegas; I didn't play the game, but people say the story was at least decent, so that part is more or less covered. Unfortunately, level design has never been Guerrilla's strong point, so it seems it's a valid concern.

About lore, graphics and gameplay I'm not too worried. Hopefully we can see the game soon ;)

I don't think I have ever seen so many people on GAF know what something is but it not leak. I am surprised by your restraint people who know and honestly appreciate it. Seriously considering staying away from anything gaming related for a week, but that would be extremely difficult. I just wish I could actually go to the event even more now.

Because If it's true it will be a great surprise

I don't see a scenario where Sony secures a big time 3rd party exclusive. They lost every single one of them.

eh? Blood borne is not big time enough

Many other partnerships for Sony to take advantage of through this gen, they have more first parties working on games, many second parties (RAD, QD and more) and would rather utilize them than throw money around like MS

VR was the biggest thing. We all knew it was coming, and we'd all heard Sony were messing with it for a while, and GDC seemed like such an obvious place for it, but trying to get anyone from Sony to even confirm it existed, let alone anything software/hardware related was just impossible, and it certainly did make the event super exciting.

I'm not sure if I'd want to know what's happening at this show or not. If someone dropped me a PM spilling it all, I'm sure I'd be pumped, but waiting to see the event live will be much more exciting if it's all a secret.

The problem is just expectations really, if the event is weak, like every Sony conference has been for years, not knowing will suck, because I'll be hyped and disappointed, but if it's actually good, then no knowing will be great.

Like which ones?

I assume they are talking about Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall, Dead Rising, Ryse, Quantum Break, Scale bound

Thing is that you cant put Sony in that same third party exclusive position as they have so many first parties and then second party associated support, why start throwing money around?

In the case of MS, they need to do these things like secure Tomb raider cause their own studios are not just producing good enough

You should see things differently.
Sony doesn't believe that money hatting a publisher to prevent a game from being released to other platforms for a few months (see the recent Tomb Raider deal) is a smart way of doing business. It costs a lot, it has a small return.
But this doesn't mean they can't secure third parties exclusives in different ways, specifically by doing collaborations with specific developers. They invest a lot in securing exclusive games and contents, the way is different, not the size of investements. The "Sony has no money to do deals" theory is just bullshit, they spend a lot of money to develop exclusive games.
Bloodborne is a clear example, but they've also made partnerships with Level 5 (next one will be announced at E3 2015), they had an active role in bringing back the Dragon Quest series to Playstation with Heroes and so on. The upcoming announcement from Capcom might be the next example of such form of partnership.

can't wait for the meltdowns of delusional people who hype themselves up to ridiculous proportions and eventually don't get what they think they're going to get.

I'm happy about that, you don't see many people using restraint nowadays. I remember when I was a kid and knew nothing about the games I was buying and never knew what announcements would be made at E3. Used to buy EGM and Gamepro just to see all the new stuff that was coming, a surprise on every page I turned, those were magical times, I miss that. I hope whatever it is get's announced.

Whatever people are talking about in this thread must be good, you can see they are genuinely enthusiastic, now we just have to hope it does get announced. Still going in with tempered expectations, but damn am I excited.

Thing is that no event can ever live up to neogaf hype and gif hypes to be honest, so they might as well start melting down

Despite all the hype from GAF and even Sony employees ( John Drake and Shahid today), I'm still going in with extremely low expectations.

I'll be happy with just the announcement of the Master Thief Collection. Anything else is gravy.

There's nothing quite like a Gaf hype train in full effect and even if it derails it was worth the trip.

No regrets.

It's always fun to watch hype and expectations reach absurd levels, but it'll always lead to mass disappointment.

The worst thing about unrealistic expectations is that they leave so many disappointed and only able to focus on what wasn't there (No Crash, no FFVIIR, no Last Guardian, no Agent, etc.) The result is everyone looking past the cool stuff that actually WAS there; usually some really compelling things.

Look back at E3 for example: Almost everyone thought it was a weak showing (though not their strongest admittedly) but it still had the announcement of Bloodborne and LBP3 along with the first game by a new first party studio, Entwined, our first look at Uncharted 4, confirmation of Ratchet & Clank PS4, Far Cry 4 gameplay, and more. But because there wasn't any Shenmue 3 or Half Life 3 or something, it was weak. I'm glad I never have expectations like that because it would prevent me from enjoying anything.

Okay it's about time we start planning the GAF meetup. Anyone local have a recommendation on a place? Anyone have a night they prefer? Saturday Night?

Funny thing is that anytime there is a new big PS event, those games expectations keep on getting recycled

I will say I felt Sony had a strong E3, but even better Gamescom, people's expectations for the first year was just too much

Wonder what this secret is. If someone wants to message me it knock yourself out.

Still keeping my expectations in check. I am expecting something less than a average gamescom but more then... say a pre e3 special on Spike TV.

It will interesting to see what Sony goes for.

Ff12 hd plz

Seriously. I want that more then The Last Guardian at this point.

I enjoyed both E3 and Gamescom immensely as well. While I agree it's fun to speculate and hope for certain things, talking yourself into believing that something like a FFVII remake will actually be there is just too much. Folks create their own disappointment when what they should do is just sit back and gauge what actually gets shown.

Guys. Of those of you who are going, how long before the keynote are you planning to line up?

This event seems to be pretty massive and missing the keynote is not an option for me!

I've been reading this thread through for the past couple of days and holy shit am I pumped. E3 2013's Hype Thread is what got me to join GAF in the first place, but this is like a whole new ballgame. There is no way I will be disappointed because we know Bloodborne is being shown, everything else is just a bonus.

Also a little disappointed that university wise I have nothing due this week so my hype will slowly grow until the Awards come on Friday night.

I will not get hyped for The Last Guardian...
I will not get hyped for The Last Guardian...
I will not get hyped for The Last Guardian...

Realistic expectations make for a lackluster experience though. Realistically, Sony can't announce games at a faster rate than they release them. Sony release around five 'AAA' games a year. Most years Sony have about four conferences, GDC, E3, GC and TGS. This year and last year they added a fifth, February's PS4 announcement event, and this upcoming PSX event. With five games a year, and five shows a year, you can only average one AAA announcement at each. That kind of sucks as a viewer. These are an hour to ninety minutes long, and Sony has to deal these announcements out slowly.

Realistic expectations would stop me from ever bothering to watch a conference live, because they can't possibly blow me away.

If they did, if next week they announce TLG, GoW4, FFVIIR, Horizon, Bend's game, MM's game, etc. They'd be fucked for announcements for the next year.

Damn when you put it that way I definitely have to agree. I guess how I feel about things on a personal level is that I get super excited for conferences because of things I already know will be there. For example for this, if I see a bit of UC4 footage I will be hyped, a new gameplay demo of the Order has me hyped, the rest is just icing on the cake. But I don't think I would tune in and watch a conference live unless I was expecting surprises.
