Yeah, it's weird. First time shopto have ever let me down, and of course it had to be Smash.. could have been Far Cry 4 or GTA V but nope, had to be Smash. :(
 
I wish they would separate the regions better... I'm in New Zealand, happily playing with Australians and then suddenly someone from USA joins and totally destroys the room with lag.

I'm glad I get to play, but man I wish it was more consistent and reliable. 50% fun rate at the moment.

Move the CPU coin off of the Random square onto that of your desired opponent

Maybe check your router settings for UPnP and Application Forwarding.

I have this and 3DS version of the game and I really try to love it, but I just can't.. :( Holy shit the gameplay feels is so simple and stupid. Overly magnetic edges and every character has super good recoveries, so you can play like an idiot and still comeback easily. Floaty psychics and almost no combos, because so much lag and lack of hitstun etc. If both players know how to play, the matches are getting longer and longer.

The game looks super good and there is so much content in it, but it doesn't matter for me, if the gameplay feels bad. Yes, I'm probably the only one around here.. help me.

Try playing Little Mac and Doctor Mario. They have terrible recoveries.

How To Play video is one of the random things that pops up if you leave the controller alone for a few minutes at the main menu.

I really don't get that and I doubt that was an oversight either with retry buttons in pretty much every other mode.

And the somewhat long load times doesn't help.
 
I'm playing Link but what should I do when my opponent starts spamming projectiles? Their projectiles are faster and Links movement speed is super slow.

Sakurai gets the details right and going the extra mile, but always easy things to make that would be normal for other designers, he just doesnt think of them.
Just like a freaking retry button. Its even worse (I dont have the GC adapter yet), as exiting the stage is nearly unuseable because of how the buttons are placed in the gamepad. Killing myself is faster.
 
Is DeDeDe worth trying to learn to play or is he just garbage?

it seems like he's got some good buttons but his specials aren't that great. People seem to hit the Spiky Ball thing back at you half the time and his up b is risky.

I just have always liked DeDeDe

Also how the exit combination on non-GC pads is stupid. Like, on the pro controller and Gamepad the ZL and ZR are the triggers, not L and R like on the GC. It makes it more awkward especially having the triggers be take a picture.

-Any firewalls?
-Where is your router located?
- Open your ports
- Anyone else using the internet, or background programs using your internet connection?
- might just be bad luck with the other player and they have a bad connection. You are much more likely to get a bad connection on For Glory than here because I think most people on here understand the steps they to take to have a smooth match.

I mean if that were to be the case, there would be no retry button for the other modes.

Unfortunately he didn't know any better. They didn't have the bundle or GC adapter so they told him this was basically the same. And it looks like an official Nintendo product.

He still has the Pro controller to play with though.
 
I managed to preorder the game version that includes the gamecube controller adapter from Amazon.co.uk. It's sold out now, both the game with it and the seperate one. I hope to receive the game sometime this coming week. Looking very much forward to it.

I also have three amiibos waiting for me. They are imported from the US though (thanks Toys R Us) and my family brings them home to me this christmas.

I haven't really followed the public reception of this game. How is the new game modes?

Exact same feelings as mine, I'd rather it had been any other game, like literally ANY other game.

Every other game from them has come a day early as well, this is sod's law I guess.
 
You guys with lag must playing on some very weak internet because I'm on a less than 1.5 meg connection and have had near flawless matches since I got the game on Friday. Online is actually amazing. Fucking Sakurai, man. THAT GUY.
 
Damn, Link got good! His toon counterpart is weak now, though. Think im switching my main.

Some friends are about to come over for a smashfest. Can't wait how this holds up in multiplayer
 
So I tried to redeem my copy of the soundtrack CD from Club Nintendo UK and the website failed to load before I could complete the process and now I no longer have the banner to click and therefore can't get the soundtrack. Great.
