Don't make me stab you TheOddOne.

I think that's part of the reedits by Lucas.

I'm the worst.

The sith woods scene looks awesome. Appropriately brooding and badass. I also love the look of the forked red lightsaber, it evokes the look of a heavy claymore or broadsword.

The X-wings over the water looks incredible.

New storm trooper designs look awesome.

In one minute they were able to communicate the look and feel of classic star wars while adding an original flourish. Can't wait.

In the bit with the Sith dude, where was his sabre before he drew it? I watched it a few times and I figure if it was strapped to his belt it would have been visible at some point before he drew it. It looks like it just appears as he starts to reach for it, like it falls out of his upper arm.

No idea but I think he basically did the same move Palpatine did in ROTS when Windu and Generic Jedi Masters #1, 2 and 3 confronted him.

He pulls it off his belt near the back of his right hip.

It was strapped to his belt. His cloak thing was covering it but as he reaches for the saber the cloak switches sides.

Knowing Abrams there's elements in this teaser that if we knew just a teaspoon more we would all shit with our mouths wide open.

Also fuck spoilers. I didn't mind it so much during the prequels for obvious reasons but this is a fresh slate where anything goes. That's beyond exciting to me.

I'll admit I have no idea what that means. What should it cater to?

Same way George Lucas seemed to cater to kids for the preqeuels this one seems to be going for that same younger audience that Star Trek seemed to latch on, its got a boy band feel to it, thats best way i can explain it.

To be fair, I think Star Wars had an appeal for that crowd already. Star Trek was slightly problematic (at least for fans of the original show) because it was a more cerebral show turned into a summer-blockbuster action movie. I don't think Star Wars suffers from that potential switch because it was always more of a fun action movie that appealed to the young.

The prequels and originals catered to the same audience: to anyone willing and eager to go along for the ride. That will remain true for these. I think the modern and energetic style of Abrams is making you think that but the originals were made with very rough technology. That was a time period thing just as this will be. It sounds like you think this should be as archaic.

Shit got better, bro.

Star Wars has always been a franchise for the young and kids especially. Soon as it starts appealing primarily to the nostalgia set is when the franchise fails, and I say this as someone who fell in love with the franchises before the prequels ever existed.

agreed 100%

I really don't understand this. Or how you got that from the 88 second trailer.

How can you say that for sure? His supposed "death" in ROTJ wasn't on screen and blatant. If they choose to bring him back, they will.
Um what? He got swallowed by a monster. I'm guessing you read Tales from Jabbas Palace. The idea of him escaping is beyond stupid.

The trailer that had the biggest impact on me was the trailer in 1996 for the SE. I had no idea the SE was coming and I discovered the OT in the early 90s. It was my thing. No one I knew as a kid ever heard of it let alone cared about. No star wars merchandise in stores. And then to see that trailer? Blew my mind.

The idea that the prequels were supposed to "cater to kids" is utter crap when you take into account the amount of political BS in them and stuff that generally doesn't make sense.

Eh, he was in an armored suit that we don't know the capabilities of. Him surviving wasn't that farfetched. I expect he'll stay dead now though, and go back to an older story if they want to use him.

Not even taking EU into consideration, it's explained that those swallowed by the Sarlaac are "digested over 1,000 years". Being swallowed never sounded like instant death.

What?! Are you telling me kids didn't enjoy all the decapitations and infanticide of episode III?

While I enjoy JJ, I would kill to have Edgar Wright direct a Star Wars movie.

uh wtf...

this is like one of those "im cool" picks...but just doesn't make sense.

I love edgar wright. I enjoyed every single one of his movies and have them all on blu ray and scott pilgrim is probably my favorite out of all of them closely followed by Hot Fuzz

but Star wars being directed by Edgar wright makes NO fucking sense....

it's like if I said "I think Chan-wook park should direct star wars"

whaaaat?
