The chromatic aberration in this shot is an eye sore but, when I played the game at Gamescom, I didn't really notice any so hopefully the game looks cleaner come February 20th.

Game plays well, I just hope there's more to it than we've seen. It has no multiplayer and the campaign seems hyper linear. For a game that'll likely cost £50 and last about 8 hours, RAD really need to show me why I should buy this at full price and how the game will keep me coming back.

Fingers crossed because as I say, it looks amazing and it feels amazing to play. Just dubious as to whether the actual content will be any good.

The order hate confuses me. No one's talking about this game. I, for one, am pumped
Me too. Although I'll admit, the first few showings were weak on the gameplay front and the early articles about technical issues caused some worry. The only thing that will keep me from getting it will be a short campaign since there's no mp.

Those examples might not be your reasoning but care to explain why you have no faith in this game?
I don't really want to, because I think your post was obnoxious, but I will for anyone else wondering why I posted it.

Let's take a look at the things you said should instill faith:
The Setting - It's cool to see ye'olde London, especially having lived in London, and having been to Whitechapel, however, there's nothing cool about werewolf beasts, or the Assassin's Creed thing of roping historical figures into fantasy fiction as they are with Tesla, and if they include Jack the Ripper, and dare to make him a werewolf, unaware of his crimes, I'm going to be pissed.

The Devs - RaD have made three really good games, but they're all sequels. They've never designed a game that didn't have an established formula. They haven't established that they're capable of launching an IP.

The Time - Truly irrelevant. For every Half-Life 2 or RE4, there's a Daikaiten or DNF.

Now, as for why I have no faith in it being good? They've shown nothing good, they've said nothing good, I've heard nothing good. Does that mean it won't be good? Of course not, but it means I have no faith that it'll be good.

It's mainly because they seem to be placing story as a higher priority than gameplay. The gameplay doesn't look terrible, just uninspiring. And judging from the writing so far I've very little faith in the story either.

This is merely what they've shown so far of course, but if they wanted to send a different message they should have shown different material.

I don't hate it, the game looks wonderful. However, the gameplay looks fragmented and uninspired. When I first heard about it, I was pumped to see a medieval left 4 dead. I was wrong, gameplay showed it being a gears of war-esque game. I was wrong again, next gameplay feature made it look like a choose your own adventure game with too many pit stops, breaking the continuity of the actually gameplay and getting me out of the game mentally.

I think The Order is going to get a lot of hate and lukewarm reception upon release due to a number of factors outside of its own fault or quality, such as people growing tired of that specific type of linear action shooter and it not meeting some unrealistic expectations (it'll get criticised for not pushing the genre forward in any meaningful sense, mark my words).

I'd argue you have a pretty firm understanding of "the order hate".

your wish will be granted. Next Week at the PS Experience Event all of your doubts shall vanish

I enjoy linear narratives in games quite a bit, so that has nothing to do with it, for me personally. That should work in the games favor, if anything.

Nothing they've shown of that story or that gameplay seems all that new or interesting and that's where they lose me.

"Hate" isn't the right term either. Because it implies that I care and that's exactly what they've failed to get me to do, so far.

This sounds awesome. Im in.

Well, it wasn't awful in
Penny Dreadful
. But that show had a million other redeeming qualities, but I'll throw my PS4 across the room if they do that in this game.

Basically the game has a lot to prove. The setting looks cool and a story driven cover shooter with no multiplayer can definitely work, but I'll remain skeptical until the game actually ships.

Well, I can't argue with any of these reasons. Thanks for atleast sharing them.

We've literally heard this excuse every single time the game has been show or the opportunity to showcase the game as been presented. Yet it still hasn't happened.

if they dont deliver next week, i will also loose my hope for this game. But i believe in RAD and this game. So im sure next week all our worries will be vanisched

its 1888 I'd be SHOCKED if Jack the Ripper doesnt play a part

15 hours is way too long for a shooter.

i tend to agree, but it depends on how realized the non-shooting aspects of the game are. games like bioshock or hl2 create such brilliant worlds that you want to explore. in those cases, a 15 hour campaign isn't too long

They've been showing the same demo since they revealed the gameplay. Why would anything change?

We'll finally see new gameplay footage from a new build next week.

tew was about that length. i think 15 is ok as long as they kept changing things up and there is a sense of progression. although i would have to say that playing stuff like halo and gow campaign would have definitely gotten way more boring if there wasn't co-op...why doesn't this game have co-op damnittt

:(

10-12hrs is the sweet spot for a game like The Order in my opinion.

As long as there's no filler and it's well paced and fresh for that length of time that is. See UC2 - which is the game that inspired the developers apparently.

I'm excited for it, the last trailer looked pretty great. I agree that the demos have been a little underwhelming though so I do have my concerns.

This, people have been complaining about the same damn demo since November 2013 so happy we are finally getting something new.
