I wonder how closely he'll stick to the formula? I know it's sacrilege, but fuck the scroll, and wipes for that matter.

They should have shakycam, dubstep+metal soundtrack, and the title of the movie should appear at the end in a modern font.

There's a scene where a strung out Daisy Ridley, high on death sticks, raids a Hutt flophouse looking for a junkie who can help her find the plans to the Death Star III. Stormtroopers show up, blasters come out, and she has to fight her way out in an unbroken 14 minute long single take.

Just because I don't want it to be a slave to tradition, doesn't mean I don't want it to be Star Wars.

I am sure this has been discussed but having a small laser on the handle is impractical as it will only hurt the user.

A weightless laser sword able to cut through and immediately cauterize any wound is also extremely dangerous. The idea is that most people wouldn't use these because they can't use the force in order to not kill themselves while using it. I think sith jr will be fine. Also I am sure he will find a way to harm someone with the cross guard. Hoping for more heavy hits and a traditional swordsman style out him. Choreographed well he can be badass.

I don't mind the text scroll. I agree the wipes felt lame after 6 movies. Find better ways to transition.

BTW, is the Rancor scene improved in the Blu-Ray special edition? I remember how disappointed I was with Return Of The Jedi special edition where the Rancor's black outline was still very visible in the VHS release.

They fixed that in the DVD release.... looks great.

It's because of edits like that and the Vader "Nooooooo" at the end of RotJ that make me not like watching the Blu-rays.

The Blurays were the first Blurays I ever bought. But I kept noticing little visual and audio things popping up, completely distracting me and taking me out of the experience...I ended up returning the Blurays and haven't owned any Blurays since...

Problem is, something like that for Star Wars will never happen. It's either the old movies (which I do love) or special edition with stupid changes.

Are there any pictures of this?

It'd definitely put a limit on the more acrobatic swordplay we saw in the prequels (which is a good or bad thing depending in your view). If they go with a two handed style more in line with a claymore, it could be really cool. It could also be really dumb but that goes with all things.

If they did, they did not show it, not were they visible any shot.

They showed other R2 units being lowered into other X-wings.

Here's just one example:

The new novels are 100% canon and have been bringing back old eu stuff slowly slowly.

I'm curious if this includes Empire and Rebellion, was released around the time of the announcement, but was being written before the acquisition iirc.

Nevermind, found this on wookipedia:

Honor Among Thieves was the final novel entry in the continuity now rebranded as "Star Wars Legends

Honor Among Thieves being the second book of Empire and Rebellion.

I liked most of the acrobatic style just didn't like that everyone did it. Hoping for a clash of styles with the Sith and whoever the jedi is.

No, I don't. I have it on VHS, and none of the images show it on google image search. The black outlines from the composite image looked really bad in ROTJ Special Edition.

Ah ha, that's good to know. That was one thing that needs fixing. Maybe some motion blur in the stop motion sequence would look even better, but that's asking for too much.

The Luke Vader fights from Empire and RotJ are what I want to see more of. Those were intense.

I like the acrobatic sword play, these are meant to be skilled, agile and deadly warriors.

Though I think the emphasis should be on skill as opposed jumping 30 feet in the air and doing twirls

I welcome the return of the 2 handed technique

They were originally supposed to be heavy

Luke getting angry and wailing on Vader when he threatens Leia is the best part of the series. The shot looking up at him. So awesome.

I just hope Disney releases the original versions on blu ray, that Noooooooo Lucas added when Vader picked up the emperor was the nail in the coffin for me.

That was what did it for me too. I probably would have bought them if they were the same as the DVD versions, even with stuff like Hayden in Return of the Jedi, but that was what made me put my foot down and say enough is enough. I don't own the Blu-rays and I'm not buying the movies again until I can get the originals.

Hahaha geez, the plastic flexible hose look so bad. I wouldn't use those in my own house, let alone a fucking spaceship lol

I can't lie, part of me really loves that "naive science fiction" that is produced each time a generation tries to depict the future. Star Wars is no exception with the sets made from practical and available scraps. Instead of being a shiny mystery box, you really feel all the bells and whistles that are part of everything. Like comparing wall-e to eve.

I think it's supposed to sort of reference some kind of breathing system or something in the ship kinda like how jet pilot masks are. Similar kind of plastic hose attached to fighter helmets.

I seriously get an urge to buy it every couple of months then Im all, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27RVJJfny4I#t=22

I don't think the other emissions are supposed to be a cross guard. The nature of blade is ragged and unstable, but it maybe more powerful. I think what we are seeing is energy exhaust. Perhaps to stop the blade from exploding in the users hand.

That actually makes alot of sense.

Loved it. Very excited. Awesome to see a Star Wars movie shot in a modern way. I hope JJ delivers but he just have an OK track record as a director so far.

That would be really cool. Is there lore behind this in the SW universe?

Regardless of what they actually are, I don't think it's any coincidence that they are trying to copy the look of a claymore, possible indicating it's a more ancient design. Similar to how all our new stuff is made sleek, ergonomic, and minimalist, older designs for things tended to be more detailed, un-ergonomic, and extravagant for no other purpose than to look extravagant.
