am I the only one, who sees a lot of simularities in the way stuff is shot?

Well he's the same director. He has a fairly identifiable style. Why wouldn't there be similarities in the visual language he uses? It's an incredibly weird observation to point out as if it's some vague negative.

Just picked this up at Goodwill for $3:

And now it's time for an OT marathon in all of its unmolested glory. :D

i need to visit my goodwill for stuff like this

Yeah man! I try to go at least once a week. Today, along with the Star Wars boxset, I bought a VCR/DVD player combo (since I don't have a VCR anymore) for $7. They also had a 20" Sanyo CRT TV for $6 (which I actually might go back and get) and a Wii for $29.

Earlier this year I bought a 2nd Dreamcast and 15 games for $50, an N64 and about 10 games for $60 and a bunch of vinyl records for $0.50 each.

Goodwill has been good to me, haha. I really wish there were more thrift shops in my area.

I just bought the bluray/DVD combo packs of each trilogy.

I'll take better image and sound quality over the original edits of the movies.
I'm an outlier though, I actually enjoy watching all of the movies.

I agree with this, but I'm truely hoping we see a Disney version that restores certain scenes and gets rid of the really bad ones (the singing in ROTJ)

I use that scene as an excuse to check the mail or anything else that gets me out of the room, or skip it.

I'm hoping they do a re release of the original cuts as well.

I have DVDs of all 6 movies and Blu-Rays of the OT, but it's nice to have the option of watching the original films in their unaltered versions. If I can ever convince the lady friend to finally watch the movies, I'd really like her to start with the VHS tapes, haha.

This thread is probably the first time I've ever seen multiple people say Natalie Portman is not attractive and it's very confusing.

Oh I was just talking about those specific tapes.

The thing is there's no widescreen unmolested version available right?

Yeah, the tapes are fullscreen. There are limited edition DVDs that were released in 2006 that have both the special edition and theatrical releases of the movies in widescreen, but they're not cheap.

Same here. Everything about this is great.

The fanmade original edits are ace in the sound and picture department. They were called the Despecialized Editions IIRC.

I wasn't arguing it, I was simply stating that I like that they look fairly normal to me, and I think that's unusual. Of course it's subjective.

I thought you were implying some level of intentionality on their part, regarding the casting choice, which i think isn't there, exactly because it's a subjective matter.

ie: They weren't going for some more "normal" looking.

I don't think it's clearly an exhaust system. I just think it could be an exhaust system. I also think that it might be for any of the other speculated reasons, for that matter. Exhaust system, character isn't great at creating lightsabers, the hooded figure is Satan, etc.

Natalie Portman has never looked better than she did in Attack of the Clones. Such a huge crush on her in that movie. It's crazy how much she seemed to age between TPM and AOTC.

You guys are nuts. Natalie Portman is beautiful, non-existent ass and all.

Not everyone needs to have a nice ass. Not everyone can have a nice ass. Otherwise, how would we appreciate truly nice asses?

So Colbert shuts down the three-blade argument, we need to move on to more ridiculous things...like Natalie isn't hot? What planet are you from?

Natalie Portman is beautiful as fuck. You dudes are doing the most right now.

In a week or so at least one of you will make another one of those "I'm socially awkward as fuck, halp me talk to girl pls" threads.

Lucasfilm has made no attempt to stop him or take down the torrents of the film to my knowledge. I think it's one of those look the other way sort of situations.

well if he wrote some program that if you feed it all legal and owned sources then it spat out the fixed version then yeah, otherwise they don't have to look the other way

it's more about keeping good with the fanbase

If they were smart, they would hire him and start working on official remasters of the original.

So glad I bought them in 2006, but the originals unrestored and rough.

I don't think they need him. If they want to put it out (they need to workout the legal mess with Fox first) they are more than capable of doing a much better restore than him.

What he mostly does is (not to take it away from him, his cuts are great) is to use the Bluray/DVD SE's wherever possible and cut in the best available source for everything else (be it the laser disk, an actual film prints, etc). He isn't doing an actual restore from scratch himself which Lucasfilm would do.
