so is that rumor about randy savage banging steph real? or just some internet "it's still real to me dammit!!!" smark tier bullshit?

cause I never heard of such a rumor until googling why randy savage isn't in the hall of fame after that vince interview.

Meltzer believes it and says all top wwf officials believe it, but no one really knows for sure because no one has the grapefruits to ask vince

its not exactly the kind of thing you can bring up in...any kind of conversation really

I'd like to think the randy thing is real, because it makes a great story, but he had Elizabeth and that is a far better prize.

I assume the real reason was his jump to wcw. Maybe it was a handshake agreement that he wouldn't jump and he did it anyway behind his back and that is what caused the super bad blood. That is what I believe.

There's a reason Austin didn't go there last night. He could have easily asked what the issues have been, but didn't go there.

I thought the reason Macho wasn't in was because he said he'd only go in if his dad and brother were put in as a family and that Lanny was respecting his wishes. I think he mentioned he might let it happen as he deserves to be there, but wasn't sure.

He also got his Dad (who never wrestled for WCW) inducted in the WCW hall of fame.

And the 'stare at her boobs' spot.

Sad story, Vince was sexually abused as a child by I believe his mother and adoptive father? He said something once like his biggest regret was that his step dad died before he (Vince) could kill him with his bare hands.

Yeah if you read his interview in Playboy from I think 2000 or 2001ish, you'll understand pretty much everything that Vince does.

Sexually and physically abused by his mother and step-father/her boyfriends growing up. Lived in a trailer park for years. Didn't even meet his dad until his mid-late teens. His dad's family was embarrassed of his white trash roots. Resented the shit out of his dad. Wanted to be a wrestler, but his dad wouldn't let him. Kind of lucked into being an announcer. Decided to buy the business from Vince Sr. and do everything his dad told him NOT to do with it. Resented all the rich people around him. Has had a massive chip on his shoulder ever since. Still is clearly working through his issues with resenting his dad and people he grew up with if the podcast was anything to go through.

The interview also had a number of stories about affairs he had and an urge as a kid to stuff crushed leaves in his cousin's vagina.

Makes you understand all the hillbilly gimmicks over the years, him wanting to do incest angles with him and Steph AND Shane and Steph, and so on.

Wow, I never knew all this. Explains a lot.

the dead stare austin gave mcmahon during the macho man question, and then re-asking it for confirmation like 5 times just staring at him was amazing.

i don't think steve knows what went down but he's fully aware of the rumor. i think he was trying to decipher the truth of what happened with his stare and the repeated question. you could tell he was deep on examining the body language more than the verbal response

It's a very good interview and worth reading. Very candid.

That part was pretty uncomfortable to watch. When Austin was giving him that stare I was just thinking "how far is he going to take this?"

I've known the stories from Vince for a long time now. Part of the reason he comes off looking a bit better on this CM Punk issue.

who would've ever thought that the "drunken redneck" from the attitude era would have, hands down, one of the best podcast careers ever

love this stuff

A lot of wrestling fans. He was one of the best in the business of all time in terms of mic work.

Mic work is about making people interested in you. Interviewing is about making people interested in the person you're talking to. No one is shocked he's good at talking, it's just surprising that he's a legitimately good interviewer.

A healthy portion of his work was talking to other talent and backstage segments.

I know there is more to being a solid interviewer. He is just as good between both formats.

Haha, yeah. Vince got REALLY flustered when Austin kept asking him, "If you're really in tune with your audience, what's the best way for a fan to give feedback?"

Vince: "Be a member of the audience!"

Austin: "Oh come on, what's the best way for someone to send direct feedback about what they're seeing?"

Vince: "Social media is huge!"

Austin: "There we go. @WWE? @VinceMcMahon? You can reach him @VinceMcMahon on Twitter!"

Listening to the Vince/Stone Cold podcast right now.

The parallels between Punk and Stone Cold are uncanny. WWE lost a gem. The stone the builders rejected has become a capstone, etc., etc.

Also Vince looks old as fuck.

A bit of a side note, but Austin's interview of Roddy Piper is one of the most riveting wrestler interviews I have ever heard. It's shocking how much Piper opened up to Austin. Highly recommended.

Not that i'm saying vince isn't working hard anymore but I think he's approaching the age where you start to reflect on life and he probably just doesn't care as much about the wwe anymore. maybe things are more in perspective as to what's important etc. I'm sure he still puts a ton of time and energy into the wwe but it just seems like he isn't as personally attached to it anymore as he once was.

Before Vince's first interruption of the word "wrestling", it sounded like Austin was about to tell him Raw sucked.

"How in tune right now are you with the WWE universe? You always like to listen to your crowd. Are you giving the crowd what they want? Because I just got finished watching three hours of live.. sports entertainment/wrestling.."

That's when he was interrupted. Look at the word "because." There's no other place he could have taken that except to say something like you say you're giving the crowd what they want, then how do you explain the junk I just watched? I really wish he wasn't interrupted there.

That's wonderful news! He should take a vacation. From the company. That lasts forever. He's earned it.

I don't know if it's the writers or the wrestlers, but the only person I've seen that isn't disgraceful on the mic is Paul Heyman. All the things I've seen in the last few weeks ( I haven't watched a full WWE show since 2006) are awkward and not funny. And man, the commentary is absolutely terrible, surprisingly due to JBL.

I've never seen a CM Punk match but I heard his whole interview...

I have to watch a match of Punks on YouTube to verify, because Austin was one of the best of all time and was captivating nearly every moment he was on tv from 1997 on... Comparing Punk to him seems like an insult to me

After all of the wrestling talk on the Bombcast and now this thread popping up, I almost want to watch wrestling for the first time in my life at the age of 30. I keep reading wikipedia articles about Hulk Hogan and I don't know why, because I never had any interest in this stuff before.

It took 3 hours off my life but I'm glad I watched the CM Punk interview and the stone cold interview. Real great week for WWE.

McMahon looked great during the interview

You've really never seen a single wrestling match in your life? Like, not with a friend or cousin or sibling or other family member that liked it?

You should watch Ricky Steamboat vs Rick Rude Iron Man Match then. If you don't like that, you probably shouldn't even bother with wrestling.

Everything you need to know about why people like wrestling can be explained with that match. You don't need to know the rules or the characters or the logic. That match will teach you everything you could need to know about wrestling.

If there was a match I'd recommend a first viewer, it'd be the very first TLC match at Summerslam or the edge spearing Jeff Hardy match at WM 17.

I wanted to say Mankind v Taker hell in the cell, but that's too brutal for a first timer.

I feel you (granted I use to actually watch wrestling) though simply immersing myself in the discussion and catching highlights on youtube is serving me far better than ever sitting down again actually investing to watch a live program.

I'm sure I've seen some here and there. I was a kid when the whole WCW NWO thing was happening, I just don't know if I ever really watched it. Maybe while visiting a friend, but never on my own. I certainly never followed it.

Check out any Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit pay per view matches. It didn't matter who was the good guy (face) or bad guy (heel), the crowd gives both guys respect at the end if their match.
