Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

I heard Tales of Hearts R is pretty good so I'm really tempted to buy one of these while they're still $80. Can I expect another sale before or after Christmas if I don't make up my mind soon?

How often does the whitelist get updated? It would be nice for Sony to just let us know, even if it is just a note on their Twitter or something.

That's a shame. I would like to think it would become available in the near future, but I guess the point you made could be the major stumbling block.

with major work, it would be great on pstv, but i think some minor tweaking and it could work relatively well, albeit far from perfect if they utilize the virtual touch pads for the artifact wiping or whatever. if anything just make those sections at least playable, put it up on the store and gauge interest from there.

problem is i think sony sent pstv out to die with no plans to support it all that much. probably wanted to unload vita components

Nope. Too many forced uses of the touchscreen.

Would probably work ok with the Dualshock 4. Sony should allow those games with a warning on them. Or as SirTapTap I think said before, if you already own the game for your vita, let us run them anyway

I don't think anyone knows this. Senran and Sword Art just randomly started working without a peep from anyone. I'd love if stuff like Dracula X or some of the other stuff started working, Sony doesn't seem to care for now about hearing from us what we want whitelisted =/

I wish this was true. Many games I have don't work, even if they use barely any touch/rear touch screen features.

They should let run *any* Vita game. Just put a 'Warning' screen in with a headline in bloody red and a text saying that game is not qualified/certified by Sony to run, telling the user to go on under his/her own risk. And keep updating that white list of course, but dont blacklist totally the rest of the catalog. They could add a second screen saying what makes the game to not run, like cameras and other vita functions for Uncharted GA, but please... just let us to find whatever cant be done in PS TV by our own, dont put the cookies jar in a locked cage.

Because this is ridiculous. Many games that can be finished using only classic controls just block you on the spot: not compatible. I dont care if they put 100 warning screens, but for gods sake let us play the games, ive got a huge backlog of psn vita games laying in the plus service that Id love to play the most of them on the PS TV, even if its just a small portion of the total time it takes me to finish it or bore me.

I just caved and ordered Danganronpa 1 US version. I give up Sony, you win. Guess I'll just give my EU copy of Danganronpa 1 to a friend that owns a Vita.

Man this is hilarious. All this mess with eu/na/jp games get on my nerves. I want to buy this device, but I don't know which version xxxx game will be working properly on my EU PS tv. It's really need patch asap.

I really am tempted to pick up a PS TV just to play the vita JRPG's that are out. Just don't see a cheaper alternative since vitas are still around 200. Anyone have advice for or against this idea?

Nothing beats the suspend/resume functionality on the Vita for RPGs. It was nice to play FFX for 20 minutes, suspend the game, and come back to it a day later exactly where i left off, never having to worry about getting to the next save point because i have something else to do.

It works better with a portable system, and the actual vita is more compatible with RPGs (the Vita Ys game is not compatible with the PSTV, for example) and the fact that suspend/resume works for ANY game (PSX, PSP, and Vita) plus, you can suspend a game, use remote play, and that it stays suspended is really a great feature.

But is that feature worth $100 that could go towards other games?

yeah, to me it is. Once you have the ability to suspend/resume any game, it makes your portable play even more enjoyable. It's up to you, but seeing as the Vita is 100% compatible with every vita game and that the PSTV will never be, i dunno, it's worth it to me.

i got my vita used for $130, so it's not that big of a difference really.

I havent been lucky enough to see one that low yet, but if I could find one around 110 or less id go for it, but 99 for pstv with the ds3 and the memory card is a decent deal imo

Does anyone know how well Virtue's Last Reward runs on the VitaTV? I really want to replay that game soon, but I would prefer to do it on my TV for an extra amount of comfort.

If you don't mind used, you can usually find them for $99-140. Cowboom, Amazon, and eBay are some sites to check if you haven't yet.

If you're still interested in the PS TV route, you probably already know, but it's still $80 and $100 for bundle on Amazon (are these the normal prices now?).

Anyone have a list of games that they think I'd regret not being able to play if I go the PS TV route rather than a Vita? The games on my list to play after getting one or the other so far is :

Definites:
Danganronpa 1&2
P4G
Disgaea
Freedom Wars

Possibles:
Dragon's Crown
Sword Art Online

I only popped it in once but as far as I can tell it is working flawlessly.

he's asking what he might miss out on because it's not compatible with the PSTV, though.

Right now, in NA you'd be missing:
Ys Memories of Celceta
Gravity Rush
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Assassins Creed 3 Liberation
Unit 13
Wipeout Vita

there's more, but those are coming off the top of my head.

As far as PSP games go, i know that Dracula X Chronicles isn't compatible, but I haven't looked up the rest.

Thank you. I do appreciate other suggestions for games to play as well as the games that arent PS TV compatible.

U r right. Sorry, my mistake.

BTW, add to this list Tearaway, too.

Is there any consensus about which Disgaea games on Vita are worth playing?

I played through 4 on my PSTV and it was amazing I've never played a Disgaea game before and it had me rolling (the voice acting was also hands down the best I've heard in an originally Japanese game)

NISA generally gets great VAs, especially in Disgaea. Makes sense, Disgaea is NIS' flagship. I wish they'd localize in some damn thousands separators though. All the Disgaea games are great, flaws mostly only present themselves if you really don't know what you're doing (reincarnating too much, not reincarnating in the postgame) or in postgame content. Disgaea 4 on PS3 was one of my favorites mechanically, though it had a single huge flaw in that the LAnd of Carnage unlock was very frustrating. But for my money, both 3 and 4 are great. 4 is much prettier though assuming the HD sprites maked it over to Vita okay.

Disgaea D2 is the best PS3 Disgaea and will presumably make it over to Vita eventually.

Thanks for the help everyone! My shopping list for vita games is slowly growing :)

BTW there are more or less no mainline disgaea that AREN'T worth getting, though 2 is a weak one; none of the gameplay fixes 3 introduced, some annoying postgame stuff (felonies are annoying), worse story and less memorable (new) characters than Disgaea 1. Also, aside from Disgaea 1 and D2 none are direct sequels and can basically be viewed as alternate universes, though Etna, Flonne and Laharl always show up in postgame.

Also the Prinny games are pretty good if you're ready for crazy hard/precise platforming. The second one has an easy mode that's fairly forgiving. They both have classic Disgaea humor but are of course not at all like Disgaea gameplay wise.

I noticed that in a future far away, the PSTV version of Guilty Gear XX would be the only way to play +R once the patching on PS3 stops. Might grab it just for that.

I love that game. It's become my favorite Disgaea title. And I loved the voice acting, too -- except for Death Emizel, who always emphasizes the wrong words in each sentence, often changing their intended meaning. (He was voiced by a woman who's done tons of other roles, so I'm not sure if she's to blame, or if the director just slacked off during her recordings.)

It "should" run flawlessly, but I'm stuck on a room without any way to progress, there is a need of tactile control that I don't manage to replicate on the PS3 controller ...
If anybody has an idea, that's the room with storage for clothes, and a calendar enigma.

Hey guys, anyone got a European account running on a US system?

Will it work fine, any drawbacks I should know about?

Thanks

i have a pstv now, got all my games on it now no problem.

for save data though using the wifi/content manager on the pc/vita tv it transfers the psp game saves fine but no matter how many times i try, the ps1 saves dont transfer at all.

any reason why?

Edit, nvm, it worked when i did PS3 > Vita TV wifi transfer instead

Took the plunge and bought a PS TV last night and discovered that we had received our holiday bonus this morning! Got the bundle for 99 and picked up Freedom Wars using GCU at Best Buy and Got P4G from Gamestop. Now to decide what else to pick up to round out a good starting point for games.

Congrats welcome to the club

and i'm setting here unable to decide between this or the portable one, almost a $100 difference + the disadvantage of being unable playing wipeout 2048 -i'm a fan tho i'm not pro with it- and maybe uncharted and whatever game that may comes in the future without supporting TV

i dont mind importing , but whether the game is designed for both of them or just for vita is getting on my nerves tho my game list is very limited and it's not big :
danganronpa 1+2
ToHR
wipeout
uncharted
P4G
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 2+3 in the future

all my friends got TV , i'm yet to , maybe i can ditch those 2 games unfortunately but i'm afraid of future regrets

sigh...

Buy the Vita.

I bought Freedom Wars and God of War collection from best buy on friday. I can't wait to play them on the bedroom tv this weekend!

Edit: I think this will be my 10th playthrough of the original God of War and I'm still excited. It's one of my fav games of all time so I hope this version holds up.
