Okay, I updated the hype train. I think I'm more comfortable with this train now. I am proud.

So what?

The original Dragon's Dogma was a success and now fans are wanting a sequel, I highly doubt they are "green lighting a bomba."

Sorry man I'd much rather see Mega Man, Resident Evil, Breath of Fire, or Street Fighter way before I see Dragon's Dogma 2. That's just my opinion :/.

Dawg pls. It sold 1.3 million on both Xbox 360 and PS3 combined with huge install bases to boot. I would much rather Sony do something else, but at the end of the day, it's just my opinion.
Yeah not a big seller but I guess that would make it cheaper to bankroll since Capcom wouldn't expect as much compensation compared to a more successful franchise.

I respect that.

I just think Dragon's Dogma did really well for a new IP. Especially because it didn't score a 90+ metacritic or whatever.

If heritage is important why the hell were Shenmue 3, HalfLife 3, Fallout 4 & Mega Man mentioned here.

Wouldnt a franchise like Mega Man being exclusive piss of a lot of people? They want Mega Man to join Nintendo anyways. Do we want to piss of people with some exclusives?

Capcom exclusive game would be otherwise fine. Althought I dont think Megaton fits that... Kiloton?

lol come on people, just because it's the celebration of the 20th anniversary doesn't mean it's ALL going to be about the past franchises. IF they do get Dragon's Dogma 2 as an exclusive it will be because they see value in it going forward..and they would be right.

My money is still on Onimusha tho

Yeah.. thats true.. but i have a good feeling DD has the ability to become a great franchise. maybe if it was Exclusive it would help..? I dunno. I'm not Paul Marketing.

I'm in the minority, but I do not want another Dragon's Dogma. The first game didn't light the world on fire, and making a sequel to it and announcing at Playstation's 20th Birthday is just an awful decision.

This makes no sense. Setting aside how big or small the game was, Sony is featuring many other multiplat games at the event. What if this game is multiplatform too? Will it still be an awful decision?

What sort of heritage does Dragon's Dogma have with the PlayStation brand? They had a prequel that came out to a luke warm reception and even worse commercial success. This is like green lighting a bomba.

Sure. The same applied to Bayonetta 2 and W101. PG fans don't care because the game is great. That should be your top priority as gamer - good games. Sales numbers are for men in suits to worry about.

Now I won't sit here and say DD is this massively underrated classic, but I do think it's a good, cool game that deserves a sequel on more powerful hardware.

And it's much more interesting Crash, PaRappa, and the vast majority of Sony's other snoozefest IPs.

Using unconventional wisdom, I assumed it was a PS4 exclusive. :/

Isn't it supposed to "turn heads overseas"?

Well some will turn their heads because it was unexpected...some because they love it..some because they hate it...heads will turn either way! Just in different motions

But no seriously I feel like Onimusha is the kind of IP that could sell decently while costing sony relatively little to acquire. I am not knowledgeable about what the sales exactly were in the past for this IP in the west tho

Number of Titles:12
Unit Sales: 8,000,000

They were fine given the time, though I think each iteration sold worst than the last. Again, my statement was more about how Capcom perceives Western audiences than the overall influence of a title like Onimusha.
