Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2, sequel to 13+ million game, is coming, has co-op

The way Volition integrates co-op perfectly into the Saints Row games, there's really no excuse for devs like Rockstar or Avalanche not to do the same with their open world games.

Unless....you know....they don't want to include co-op in their single player campaign.

Focus on co-op though

Ha ! Was replaying the game yesterday.

Told myself how good it would be to have a current gen sequel.

And bam.

This better be true, OP.

Oh sweet mother of Christmas I can't wait! Not 100% on the push at co-op if true though.

I liked that semi-open-world kinda mode where you could also hear the other guys chatting if you got too close. My friend and I found these guys holed up in a little fort thing in the Mexico area. We didn't know why they were there, but we decided we wanted their stuff and their fort. Unfortunately there were like 6 of them and 2 of us, +they had walls around the fort so we could only enter certain ways. It was good times wittling them down though.

I guess that's not really "co-op"...I don't know what it's comparable to. Double-invasions in Souls games?

I just hope it shows up again so I can continue raiding the poor souls.

Fuck co-op and online.

I guess game makers just aren't going to be satisfied until loners like me have nothing else left to play.

Also, i wouldn't keep my hopes up for a female protag.
I assume they started developing this in 2010 (or even before that, for what pre production is concerned), and the reaction to GTAV not having a female protagonist was in 2012/2013, when they revealed the 3 characters.

Unless of course they wanted to include a female character regardless of the public outcry, but i doubt it, given how closely they adhere to clichè of the genre.

I'd be happy if they did though, since RDR had some of the most interesting women in gaming.

I delivered pizza at Rockstar the other day and they were working on a Bully prequel. You play as 3 year old Jimmy Hopkins, causing mayhem at a preschool. Baby punching is involved.

Meh, if i think about the jump we got from GTA3 to vice City, or Vice City to San Andreas... or even SA to GTAIV (on a technical level) i think a sequel could bring good stuff.

This will be their first true next gen game after all.
Difference with GTA is that there's a lot more potential for settings and gameplay.

Westerns are a fairly specific thing and I think RDR has already exhausted much of the potential. That's a compliment to RDR, by the way.

Anyways, I've discussed this with people before. They insisted there's still plenty of potential left. I don't see it. I think it will be great and people will rave about it but it will ultimately not be nearly as impactful or exciting.

Oh man, so in for this. One of my favorites from last gen. Hope we get something official in the next few days with the game awards and playstation experience coming up.

Rockstar San Diego started working on it as soon as GTA V was finished. It is well into production. Do not ask me how I know this.

This has made me happy on multiple levels. 1.) I absolutely loved RDR, and B.) I have 3 friends that literally refused to buy a current gen console until they announced a new Red Dead.

I actually am of your opinion, but RDR3 is coming either way, and i'd be lying, if i said i wasn't curious about what they come up with.

R* has a lot of problems, but one thing they don't do, is phoning it in.

Bullshit that its not coming to PC *again*.

And it wont live up the first game anyway. It'll be cool, but the freshness of the concept has passed. I know a lot of people want this, but I still would have rather them tried to take on a new era or setting. We could have had something really fresh and new...

New era or setting? Man what a terrible opinion.

Eh, a western theme is something we don't get very often, so I'm ok with it.

I never thought it, but co-op is a pretty logical progression given the element of posses in westerns.

RDR is a masterpiece. I can't wait.

Well as much as I loved Redemption, it being one of the greatest games of all time and everything, if RDR3 includes multiple player characters and at least one isn't a woman then I won't buy the game.

If you're playing as John's son I'm out - that kid was annoying as fuck.

Wonder how this will work out since RDRedemption was right at the end of the "old west"?

I don't want to pose spoiler-y questions, but what storyline could RDR 2 take as a sequel?

I really want an RDR GOTY Edition Remaster.

My guess is we'll have: one cowboy, white dude, John Marston style, and one Native American (that uses guns and tomahawk and a bow and shit).
No female protags, for the reason stated above.

They could also ride the Django train and have a black cowboy though.

That's fine.
I'm not even saying they shouldn't or they're justified, just saying what i think will happen.

If it doesn't, all the better.
