Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

Totally late to the party, last thing i expected today was a new SF announcement, let alone one that was exclusive to PS4 and PC - totally gobsmacked.

Will be getting for PC for sure.

This. I woke up to Neogaf seeing this thread, proceeded to make audible noises until the trailer was over, look at the discussion and see that it's not about the game at all, its about the fucking console exclusivity. This is a new Street Fighter, and that's what you guys want to talk about? Fuck off. I'll take my hype elsewhere.

I don't understand what port begging is anymore.

Super Hyper Maturity Turbo Edition

That's fine but I thought we were talking about graphical fidelity here. And again we barely seen anything of SFV and could be alpha graphics.

I can sometimes but not today.

Well what we can all agree on is that from what we saw, it looked like SF4 on PC.

If not for the moveset no one would have even noticed it was SF5, which is a problem.

I want something more with SF5. I want to get hyped but this was so underwhelming.

The hype is only coming from the fact its a exclusive and not the game it self.

Why is it my problem what they do with their next system? If their next system sucks because they're cocky or whatever, then I won't buy their next system. It's that easy!
Because you always want a decent amount of competition to drive the industry forward so the companies don't remain stagnant. I'd rather avoid Sony and Microsoft doing dumb things because of their previous successes so we don't have to have another dumb Twitter campaign where we demand a bunch of changes to their new systems before they're even out because they think they can do whatever they want and ride on the success of the brand name.

Exactly. It's funny seeing a lot of salty posts.

Plus the difference is that Rise of the Tomb Raider was always going to go multiplatform anyways, while this may be similar to games like Demon's Souls & Bayonetta 2 in which the game wouldn't be made if not for the 1st party company's involvement.

The existence of the title on pc would suggest that you're wrong in comparison with bayonetta 2. The lack of a trailer showing the multiplayer nature of tomb raider suggests you're wrong in that comparison.

In fact the only valid comparison to tomb raider is that the previous entry in the franchise was multi platform upon release, and the follow ups were money hatted to initially release only on one console.

Nice try Sony. You think Microsoft cares? They have Minecraft. Prepared to get stomped at E3.

I'll give you that Minecraft is a potential game changer, and based on the Star Wars skins staying exclusive to One and PC I have no expectation of seeing anything new come PS4's way with respect to Minecraft.

But this is still MS we are talking about. They bought Rare, and I think you'd be hard pressed to seriously argue that Rare's post MS output was on par with its pre MS output. They also bought Bungie, which worked really well for quite a while, until of course Bungie had enough and got out. With respect to non Halo, Gears, and Forza exclusives, their track record isn't that great.

Also, Minecraft's appeal to the kids could end really any second. I'm not saying it will and don't really expect it to, but what kids consider "cool" one day can become garbage overnight. Even if it stays popular, MS still needs to find a way to get squeals and expansions out that offer enough for mass adoption, but not possibly disenfranchise the players who have already invested into the current game and don't want to start over.

So yes, Minecraft could be a huge game changer. But I wouldn't count on it actually panning out in terms of affecting console sales before MS proves it can do more with Minecraft than simply purchasing it.

It could be running at 4K/120fps and I still wouldn't like it. Never liked the 2.5D art style of SFIV.

Again that's fine too. I hate the SF4 artstyle myself and I like this one a bit more. What I meant though is maybe the graphics will change just enough that you may like it.

Just wait until more gameplay comes out is all I am saying!

However since you don't like the 2.5d look as it is you probably still won't like it lol.

Well what we can all agree on is that from what we saw, it looked like SF4 on PC.

The hype is only coming from the fact its a exclusive and not the game it self.

I would argue it looked a bit better but only after looking at screenshots and Chun Li's bracelet. The exclusivity is for sure the focal point of this thread though, I agree.

I'm sorry, I don't know what EVO is. What would've been the right Capcom game?

Tekken 7 would've been the right fighting game for Ps4 man...

EVO...one of, if not the most popular fighting game tournaments in the world.

As for the right Capcom game, I would've liked to have seen Monster Hunter or Dragon's Dogma 2, but those would have no doubt costed more money if Sony did pay for this.

Sigh, the mods need to clean this garbage up.

I'm right, though. People here killed themselves over Tomb Raider, but this is okay? I don't even...

As an Xbox owner, Street Fighter being a PS4 exclusive is an annoyance to me (my brother has a PS4, but it would be more convenient to just have it on the X1), but I can get over it. Same with Bloodborne. I just find these double standards baffling.

And guys: Sony isn't funding this game. Same way MS isn't funding Tomb Raider. Get real.

Its really, REALLY hard to make any accurate calls on what the final game will look like at this point.

For now, it looks like they got their engine on point and have a Ryu model they seem to be happy with. He looks fairly different from his SF IV version.

With Chun-Li, she looks early and Im fairly certain she will get remodeled from scratch at some point in the process. Chun in SF IV was remodeled more than 5 times before they got her to final. As oif right now it looks like they took the base hi-res sculpt from IV and dropped it in the engine in order to have something to show (which is why the camera focuses more on Ryu during the teaser)

In terms of DIRECTION, obviously lighting is going to be a huge focus. The teaser already seems to focus on setting up really interesting visual moods, so you can expect to see some pretty neat atmospheric variants on stages.

The biggest hint in terms of the visual flavor is the logo. In SF IV the logo was kind of brushy and ragged. Represented the brush strokes of the game. This SF V logo however:

Has a distinct graffiti look represented in the style of the font, this should be great news if youre a SF III fan, since that game was after the same thing. Because of that Im expecting really cool, bold, colorful shapes in terms of environment and effect design, which should look really nice on current gen.

Super excited!

I have a (bad) theory about this.

Initially Ono said that a new Street Fighter would not be ready till 2018.

Now they announced SFV and, by the VERY LITTLE footage shown, it seems some kind of SFIV Plus Plus On Steroids.

My fear is: because of the request for an exclusive Street Fighter, development has been speed-up, and we are getting a title more similar to SFIV than to a "real" new iteration.

Now that I'm actually complaining: i will buy it anyway and play the sheet out of it. :)

Seems plausible to me.

I would have been content with a current-gen Ultra port, and a more radically different SF game visually than the minimal footage suggests, say Alpha 4 closer to the GGXrd style.
I actually think it's too soon for SFV.

Your vague blanket statement about presumably everybody is not right and you fucking know it.

That logo is super "90s" looks similar to the Mario Strikers one. Here's hoping that this one will be a bit more faster-paced than the snooze fest that SSFIV and its sequels were.

To be fair, we know absolutely nothing at present.

No your not right as you assume the same people in the tomb raider thread are saying the opposite here, have any proof? That is a gross exageration. GAF is thousands of people.....

How is the the same as bloodborne??? A brand new IP Sony is co-developing and funding versus 2 multiplats, one that was first announced as multiplat.

if it hasnt became painfully obvious to one's own self, it certainly has 2 the rest of us, the glam u gleem from sony's esteem is jus u in need of therapy. seriously, seek a prescription.

I wish platform holders would just fuck off from paying publishers to not release their games on competitors' platforms. Paying for getting a game made that otherwise wouldn't have existed (like Bayonetta 2) I have nothing against, but this benefits no one outside of forum fanboys.

I knew it will be announced this weekend (tho, thought on PlayStation experience). Mad hype! Will need to buy a PS4 Arcade stick now tho... as if I ain't have enough sticks lying around already. ._.

Bloodborne is being funded by Sony. Also how do you know that Sony is not funding this one? I agree that the move is shitty if Sony has not funded for development but until we get more info can we stop derailing this thread and talk about the trailer?

Ona previous comments about not having the budget for SFV suggests to me that Sony helped fund it. And if they did, we may not being seeing it on the XB1 for awhile...

Tell us more about things you don't know.

Well everything people from Capcom have said was that SF V would not be happening any time soon. If Sony stepped up to make it happen in a year or two versus 3-4 years, would that be ok?

I don't care at all about this series and it bums me out that this is likely one of the megatons. Oh well. I do know that SF has millions of fans though, so this is probably quite a big deal to a lot of people.

No you didn't, you had Street Fighter 2 Turbo Edition.
CE was announced as an exclusive for the Genesis since they got screwed out of SF2. Nintendo then threw a hissy fit and Capcom gave them the newer Turbo edition so they wouldn't suffer Nintendo's wrath.

We are both wrong. Just dug it out. I have Street figher 2 - The World Warrior. This is not the turbo edition [ie it is slower, and you can't play as bison sagat, balrog or vega]

MS started this game buying 3rd parity exclusives and it looks like it just burned them, no way sony would of done this if tomb raider titanfall ect didn't happen first
