Microsoft started this whole thing with Tomb Raider and now Sony is doing it with SFV, either way I don't like it. Just glad right now that I own both systems.

I'm guessing the arcade versions in Japan will just be the PC versions put in arcade cabs. Most games like this are running on PC hardware anyway.
Yeah, but those games came after the Xbox One got them and wern't published by MS. If Sony really is funding the project, why would they give more money to get a PC version out aswell? Surely, you'd just fund the Arcade and PS4 as that is the bare minimum.
This is Street Fighter. It's been on nearly every availabe console since it first came out. I owned it on the TG16 for shits sake.

Sony is open to this possibility (FFXIV and Portal 2 come to mind) so I say yeah it could be.
But competition nonetheless the only one's that would feel bad about this is XB1 owners as for the fighting community we already knew to get PlayStatin consoles to have access to the Japanese fighters that never make it to Microsoft consoles anyways.

There is a terrible precedent being set with the Tomb Raider deal and now this. I'll just buy it once I get a PS4, but now I can't play SF5 with any of my friends I use to play SF4 with on XBL.

Timed exclusives were a thing back when Sony paid for timed exclusivity for GTA in the PS2 era. This is nothing new.

Did they though? These deals have been happening for years. Also don't you think this SFV deal has been in the pipeline for ages but they are only announcing it now, so TR has nothing to do with it.

And this is modern Capcom who doesn't care about pleasing their fans or catering to an already establish fan base look at Monster Hunter with Nintendo and Dead Rising with Microsoft. Capcom's only worry right now seems to be their bottom line precedents be damm it seems.

It's not a question of if they "could", it's a question of whether Capcom wants to.
This announcement and DD/DR3/REmaster aside, their priorities are obviously not in exploiting the core market like it was early last gen, when they had a bunch of new IP in the early 360 days. They're mostly focused on mobile, F2P and a few core IP atm. I'm sure RE is prioritized there more than SF, and we know they're working on RE7 and the remaster. Then there's Deep Down, and who knows what else.
Capcom isn't exactly made of money. They probably don't even have a billion dollars.
So I'm a "hardcore fanboy" because I'm calling Microsoft out for the way that they've been treating towards consumers (especially indie publishers/developers), even outside of consoles & even when I've been gaming since the 80's. OK.
Look at the animated gif of Ryu throwing a hadoken here and look up how it looks on SF4. It's all about the lighting.

I would argue that either, Sony couldn't be arsed to pay enough or didn't find it relevant enough to block. In the end, what benefit do they get from blocking just the PC and not the xbox.

I think it's funny how a game going exclusive gives it more notoriety and a 'special' feel, though. Been like this with Bayonetta 2, Rise of Tomb Raider. You almost want it only because you can't have it on your current console.
If we had a SF5 announcement like "coming to PC/X1/PS4/PS3/360" we probably wouldn't have such a huge thread, right? Maybe a little complaining about crossgen and that's it.
SF5 will be even more impactful being exclusive to PS4 and it may draw even more players.
Eh what can you do. Capcom gonna Capcom. I'll just wait for the inevitable Xbox version or if it's really good and i can't wait, i'll game on a PC for the first time in years.

A trailer with like 15 seconds of gameplay. The game looks just as ugly as SF4 did but with a next-gen sheen over it. Not sure what else there is to say right now.
Chun still has monster man hands. Ryu still looks like a roided out Frankenstein. Disappointing to say the least.
Its a really well done trailer as well, I'm not sure i've seen many other game trailers opt for something like this before

Bayonetta 2, Tomb Raider and now SFV. Woah, Gaf does not like exclusivity, shame it has been part of the console space since the beginning. It sucks when it happens but that's the reality of gaming, you need to purchase all systems to play the games you enjoy. Or like me, you can just be happy that at least the game exists.

Didn't mean it in that way, of course this deal was in the works from before, I just don't like these types of deals.
Oh God I'm 28 years old I remember the old days, been gaming since Nintendo I know there have been 3rd party exclusives, just weird to see them this day and age. I don't particularly like the idea of excluding 3rd party games from other consoles unless the platform holder is directly involved in the games development and is pouring money into it. Tomb Raider and Street Fighter were both multiplatform games last generation and Tomb Raider is a sequel to a game that was multiplatform, that type of stuff is bullshit.
Im glad this is a console exclusive. Its about time things got spiced up again. This industry needs things like this to keep things competitive. And competition will keep gaming alive and well. Maybe now Microsoft will buy out something like Soul Calibur or Virtual Fighter.
