There is an advantage other than notoriety for having actors present and speak at these things...they're good at it. A lot of jank in this awards show, from sound technical mishaps, to jokes that are just overlong and don't work very well. I will say this though, it's not condescending to its audience and it feels very earnest and genuine and for that I'm appreciative and happy it exists. Cut the fat next year though Geoff.
