Definitly a good handful of games I really look forward to (that swedish Souls-like FPS looked brilliant!)

But ending the show with a free to play hero shooter.. What a let down.

Looks like I didn't miss much. I'm done watching those events live. I'll just skim through the replay.

D.

I stopped watching after the RE9 trailer and I just finished watching it.

RE9 Requiem, Nioh 3 and Phantom Blade Zero trailers were the only things I liked.

Divinity and SW are likely over 5 years away and CGI. Hard to get excited about that stuff personally.
True, but the announcements and trailers were still hype and there are other games that also looked good and are being released next year.

LotF2, Exodus, Control 2 etc

Funny enough, the show ended with Highguard.
New announcemnt, comes out next month and the reaction has been terrible.
That was a good example of why you need to show games early to get some feedback.

Almost all the big important games we already knew about. A couple of nice announcements like Star Wars racer and mega man. Then a ton of generic and not even games yet announcements. Some that will never come to be and others wish wouldn't come to be.

It was fine. Solid b. Re 9, control, divinity, saros, tomb raider remake. We knew about most of that though. All of the surprises did nothing for me.

I gave it an A. I had a great time watching it, and I felt really excited for gaming (particularly my back log).

I don't think the show had "the big one" and the end reveal was surprisingly disappointing, but fotor is huge, the divinity trailer was interesting, the 40k space section looked great, and I really enjoyed the variety of games tonight.
In retrospect Fate probably should have been their closer. Or even racer.

Small bunch of interesting games with no bombshell reveals. For staying up all night it was piss poor. D

I am not sure what people expected but there were a ton of interesting reveals. I would give it a B+.

Note, this is me watching after the fact so skipping boring shit.

Edit: And yeah, the final reveal was weird.

As usual, I didn't watch it. I'm not wasting any time on this nonsense.
But this morning, I watched the trailers for the upcoming games that peaked my interested.

Are we rating the reveals/trailers or the actual show? Like the whole 3 cringe inducing hours?

The show was an F. It was terrible. Some decent reveals, too much CGI. There was no Tides of Annihilation moment that made sitting through this slog worth it.

If it's just the trailers it was fine, a C. Nothing mind blowing.

C, but because of the order of the announcements, the leaks, and all the stuff that was already known from Geoff/Studios before the show.

These shows normally are very good on the first 40-60 mins, then 100-120 mins of filler stuff and then a couple big more announcements at the end.

I went to sleep after the first part wondering which announcement would have the most pages here or on ERA when i wake up, and then this morning, all the threads were about games i had already seen in that first hour, the closing was terrific, also nothing new or surprising at all.

The statue thing shouldn't have been done, and Dvinity surprise shoul have left for the "one more thing" at the end, that way it would have been a B for me at least.

Solid B, but I didn't stayed overnight and instead I saw it this morning little by little. So I don't have the bitterness of staying up to watch ads and I can skip the ads ads part.

Really good. A-tier! I have wishlisted a LOT from this show. (I guess I liked it more as I didn't watch it live, watched it much later, skipping the unnecessary shit)

  • FOREST 3 !!!! So fucking nice, I love this series, played the fuck out of The Forest and Sons of the Forest, a bit jank but super fun and cool. (note: game not yet on steam, looks like 2026 EA so 2027 full release lol)
  • Decrepit
  • Control Resonant
  • Order of the Sinking Star
  • Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis (idk about his though lol, Amazon published and game looks very generic UE5 slop)
  • Coven of the Chicken Foot
  • ONTOS
  • GANG OF DRAGON
  • NO LAW
  • Phantom Blade Zero
  • Screamer
  • Bradley the Badger
There are a few more games which are Epic only so just going to hope they come to Steam some day.

FOTOR and Divinity looked cool, idk if the gameplay will align with my tastes as I do not like KOTOR and kinda mixed about BG3

Really great show, I gave it an A. The most deserving game scooped the grand prize. Pacing was good for a 4 hour show. Bloviating during the awards acceptance was kept to a minimum, nothing really overstayed its welcome.

Some really excellent reveals, even if some of it got leaked beforehand:

Ace Combat 8 - I forgot this got announced a while back and it looks incredible. The first-person sections on the aircraft carrier look like a novel way of pushing the narrative forward compared with AC7's cutscenes, which could get a little boring.
Divinity - never played Divinity but that was one of the rawest game trailers i've ever seen. Larian get a free pass after BG3.
Phantom Blade Zero - finally a release date, looked awesome.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis - didn't care much for the reveal of the main TR game, Catalyst, which I believe is open world. The remake with sexy Lara is more for me.
Ontos - Frictional Games are goated and this seems like it will scratch the BioShock itch i've been having lately while I wait for Judas and BioShock 4.
Saros - I feel the delayed release date makes sense, Q1 26 releases were looking too packed. The game continues to look exceptional.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic - normally wouldn't care but Casey Hudson at the helm gives me a ton of hope. Just wish they would release the Aspyr remasters in 4K on PS5. The old games are a bitch to setup in widescreen on PC and they've got no controller support.
Gang of Dragon - as much as I love Yakuza, this embarrassed the last few years of RGG Studio's asset recycling output. Looks like a true next-gen evolution of the Yakuza formula and shows what Nagoshi and Chinese funding will do.
The Free Shepard - unexpectedly cool concept for a game and is giving me some INSIDE vibes that there is something sinister at play behind the scenes.
Resident Evil Requiem - best trailer yet for this game. It's looking like the most ambitious RE game yet, combining both the first person horror of the last few mainline games with the third-person Leon action of RE4 Remake. Still holding out hope for PSVR2 support...
Pragmata - I don't really give a shit about the game but a demo releasing to coincide with the awards means i'll try it.
Control Resonant - interesting new gameplay direction although I think Remedy may be trying a bit hard to out-mindfuck Kojima at this point.
Star Wars Galactic Racer - the trailer wasn't too exciting but hearing they have brought ex-Burnout devs onboard to make it definitely is. Burnout... that's a name I haven't heard in a long time...
Stupid Never Dies - the trailer was cringe but the combat looks unbelievable. Not surprising as there are a lot of top Japanese action names attached to the project like Hiroyuki Kobayashi (studio founder).
Total War: Warhammer 40K - don't really care much for the setting but Total War is almost always great, and a console release seems to be a first for an RTS Total War game?
No Law - I did not like this studio's previous game The Ascent much because of its camera perspective but recognized the potential with their visual style. This is supposedly an immersive sim which I hope will fill a Deus Ex shaped hole in my life.

Pragmata demo and free E33 content dropping mid-show alone made it amazing. Control, Exodus, FOTOR, two new TR games and No Law announcements took it over the top. Really enjoyed it.

Which of you guys were selling your wares on the youtube comments?

Posting from another thread

Game awards shouldn't be done like movies because games aren't movies, there shouldn't be a single winner in any category, they should just reveal these are 5 best games of this category and these 5 games are the best games of the year etc

Games are too different from one another to say 1 is better than all the others, so every category should have 5 winners not 5 nominees
