Ok, I'll break down what I think so far.

This is an honest attempt at making a true to gamers game show, by Geoff. He fronted the cost up front. He couldn't get all the expensive pros to run the sound, and the cuts, and all the other technical stuff. He gives a shit though. And it shows. All of the things in this show I give more of a shit about than the abomination that was last years VGAs.

I appreciate this from Geoff. I wish more people made an attempt like he is.

This, at least feels, genuine.

Great post. I agree this is a great move in the right direction, hoping they'll be able to learn and fix some of the kinks and focus more on the awards next year
