The Game Awards 2014 Thread: Keighley unveils, less McHales

No Man's Sky looks neat, but I still need to see some incentive to actually play the game instead of just exploring some beautiful scenery. Any story?

there's something weird happening at the center of the galaxy, your goal is to get there

there is FPS ground combat, there is space combat, there is resource gathering, you trade in the resources at space stations, you can upgrade/change your ship, etc.

It's not a walking simulator

Thank you.

I was bored.

I am to - it's one of those games when you read it you drool but when you play it you're deathly bored - i stated something in the other thread that could possibly make it organically interesting and what were my reasons behind thinking it might get boring quick.

If they tighten up the presentation a bit and actually present the awards on stage we could have a good TGA 2015.

If it's like TGA 2014, I'll wait until the next morning for the tl;dr version.

This music seems very boring out of context. I'm sure it will work great within the game, but it completely fucks up the pacing for an awards show setup

Wowwwww this is longggggg. I'm not gonna sit around for the whole thing at this rate. Four hours? Goddamn.

This song is cool though. Too bad the audio engineer sucks.

Ok if you don't know what you do in NMS you just are actively not looking at all the info out there.

Heaven forbid people only casually pay attention to one of hundreds of games in the pipeline based on the main trailers they've been pushing, that all show little content and all come across as the same. You're not wrong, but you can't really be surprised.

Shit gets boring quick even in non-procedural ones. Walking around is the worst part of Xenoblade.

What? I hate walking around boring empty worlds as much as the next guy, but walking around the giant zones and seeing the different enemies and paths that branch are the best parts of xenoblade.

This may be a soundtrack I buy. The game looks and feels amazing, and I'm sure exploration will be the core gameplay element...but I do really want to know more about what you can actually strive for in the game, and what goals you can achieve.

Yup. They even explained it in the Game Informer piece where they demo a bunch of the behind the scenes tech.

Also, NMS: Gather resources, upgrade guy suit and ship, get closer to centre of galaxy, keep upgrading and exploring, get deeper, hit centre, win (?). You can shoot robots and space ships and animals etc they would just rather show off what makes it unique rather than what makes it the same.
Issue being, they're showing the same pitch over and over instead of the other stuff, which can go pretty wrong.

It's like getting the same elevator pitch over and over without any of the details but "just trust us, it's there."

The music will be great for No Man's Sky. Can't wait for the OST. This will definitely be a game to enjoy at night time.

Hey, don't worry y'all-- if you think 65daysofstatic is boring, there's Imagine Dragons to perk you right back up!!

truly a game awards show for everyone. everyone, everyone

Very nice. If you are going to have musical performances it should be like this. Geared toward the games. This sounds really good.
