Yeah...I'm out.

I really wanted to love this, and I respect Geoff for overhauling this, and pushing so hard to get this off the ground. I think the format itself started out great. But here is the things that I think are wrong with the show:

I. The oscar/classy style tone, kind of got fused into the VGX style (drop the terrible jokes/announcers/categories the wub wub dub step music and just thematic stuff that feels like a clash from the more serious tone you want).

II. The show is way too long. It really should only be 2 hours. There isn't enough content to stretch this out. Also, while I understand Geoff wants to make this part a celebration of the awards, as well as a platform to promote games, it needs to focus much more on the awards then the promotion. And if there isn't enough awards to give out, then well...maybe you shouldn't be doing an award show? I dunno. Maybe cut it down to 2 hours. Either way, I lost interest in the show about the half way mark. It felt like a lot of advertising with some awards every now and then. It was way too long.

III. Better sound mix. Sound is so awful. Mics cutting in and out. Levels are too low most of the time. The crowd is pretty bad in this regard too (their cheers are either too isolated to a single person, or overall very dull that it comes off awkward).

IV. More structure. The free style of the show is a bit too lose. Some people talked for way too long. Some awards were handed out awkwardly.

Wrap up:

I can't fault Geoff since this is the first time. I think the potential is really there for this to be great. But it needs some work.
