"World looks empty"

Does not compute. It was filled with constant cuts to clearly keep us from seeing more than they want us to see at the moment.

Was a pretty tame reveal of gameplay, but it certainly did nothing to deter my hype for it. This game is going to fucking kill.

Frankly it seemed a case of MGSV: we're taking too much to reach the destination, so let's just fastforward.

People complaining like they just watched footage from the finished product. I wish I could say I expected otherwise from GAF, but that's not true. This is a preview!

Started off real strong I thought..visually beautiful beautiful game. But then it got real boring real fast. and why the hell did they just not show the full screen video of the game? We don't really need to 'see' the devs talking about it

And also some of you people are way too defensive. It's fine if it's an old build, if they choose to show it people are free to say what they think. No need to go after everyone who doesn't think too highly of the footage. I'm sure the footage as well as the opinions on the game will get better as it gets closer to launch

One of my favourite moments was the white horses running in the field, nice touch. Liked the details in the animations too.

I'm still shocked super conservative Japanese Nintendo allowed Zelda some shine on the VGAs.

Crazy respect for Geoff for getting even this.

Goddamn.
I feel like I must have dreamt the whole last 10minutes up. Just too fucking good!!
And dat music too... I'm crying, GAF.

Looks so good. ;_;

I'm so glad Anouma was bullshitting when he said "motion controls are here to stay" or whatever back in 2012. Dual analog third person action games for life!

I get that for a lot of people it was kind of a poor and boring way to showcase the game, but it was clearly aimed at fans of the series who know what to expect from the final product. It was a peek at some gameplay, the world, and how one traverses it. It got me nice and hyped.

Admittedly, a cinematic trailer full of action and explosions would've been better suited for this event.

People complaining about this being hype killing and barren overworld: THIS GAME IS IN DEVELOPMENT

Feels like Mario 3D world and Hyrule Warriors all over again

E3 time people are gonna change that tune quickly

Even tho I dont know what people are talking about it was obvious here they were showing just specific things

"Skyward Sword didn't have an overworld"

"This overworld is too big"

Yes, it may look empty but we're a year out....let's judge at that time.

wow...that was cool. I was freaking out when I saw link jump off the horse and shoot in slow motion. So cool.

I also like the graphical style. It's like playing a cartoon ( but more interesting looking than Wind Waker)

they showed this thing off like they were the first people to discover open world games

"yeah the map is large"
"oooh your horse doesn't run into things as you move"
"Yes you can collect items in the overworld and attack enemies"
"ahh you can even put beacons on the map hory shit!"

No they didn't, they were talking about the features of their game.

If you aren't allowed to criticize a game that is still a year from release, you aren't allowed to spurge over it like maniacs.

With that demo, nobody has any right to be excited unless they are stimulated every time somebody says "Zelda".

Everything I could've asked for! :) Though it felt a little barren, the biggest gripe I had with Twilight Princess, but I'm sure it's just because it's still in development. Add a few little villages in the open-world to add more life and I'll be a very, very happy man.

This casual showcasing of Zelda was fantastic. Still early, but oh so sweet. I needs it. Already have a wii u ready and waiting.

This seemed like a Zelda game playing catch-up to the dozens of open world games that already exist and are still doing more.

I mean something like GTAV is a different spirit but the world feels ALIVE. This looked like a barren land with a few scattered enemies. Even in Shadow of Mordor you can stop on a cliffs edge and look out at the Orcs doing Orc activities and tending to their Orc business.

I laughed when they said "This forest looks very dense!", it had less trees than the bamboo forest stage from Bushido Blade on PS1....

two things, first, Aonuma had link Base jump off a mountain. Almost Just Cause style... seriously...

Second, the horse riding looked damned near perfect, and they have a year to work on this. Horse riding and controls in games have always been, well horse shit. So difficult to direct the horse and aim and shoot and do anything really.

Honestly the engine looks like an upressed Skyward Sword engine, and I am okay with that.

Lastly the idiots judging looks from a poor feed, off screen video... Stop... breath.. think... then post. If you are just thread shitting... well you know where to go.

you guys need to stop trying to police people's judgments.

If they don't want people judging the game and analyzing it, they should not show the game. The expectation when you show something like this is that people are going to freely judge it and criticize it. You should take it in stride just as surely as the developer's are.

I am the biggest Zelda fan, but I think it's fair that people think the overworld was large, barren and uninteresting. It's a legitimate position based on what they showed.

It looked cool.

Its way to early to make any rash judgements based off of off screen footage....via stream.

The game is a year away and I am sure there will be a lot of stuff going on...the reveal trailer from e3, had farmers and sheeps and random boss encounters...This was simply to show off how big the world is and some features...that's it.

Nintendo prioritize next time. If Starfox comes out earlier why did you show Zelda in such a rough state? The original reveal was presented much better than this. I still have high hopes, but I think this is a bait and switch technique for a 2016 release.

Wow. I never thought Nintendo would actually reveal Zelda Gameplay before E3... even a little snippet. I love the art style and how expansive the world looks. Now is time to wait until E3 for the real story trailer and in-game footage which will surely get a big improvement in a half a year.

Nothing impressive about it just by the demo. It is Zelda but at the same time it is Zelda. I don't hold Zelda a high standard because I don't believe the series is the greatest thing ever. I did grow up with it but as I got older the games don't resonate with me anymore.

The demo itself only tried to emphasis how it big it was. Great but I didn't see anything interesting about it. There probably will be interesting stuff to explore but at the moment that isn't what I got out of it.

I hope it's filled with dungeons like the ones in ALBW. I like earning my treasures by solving complex puzzles.

I wonder how many people will say the game doesn't look good graphically for one reason or another.

That's the build they showed so why can't we discuss and be critical of what they showed? You can still be "HYPED" for the game and say that was not a particularly good or exciting showing. It doesn't mean you think the game will suck.
That's fine, but some posters are giving off the vibe that this is representative of what will be out holiday 2015. It might not have been the best showing, and I agree, but it shows some of the core concepts they're working with.

Ok, tell me what's in the world. Tell me what secrets are waiting. Tell me what moments are going to arise. I'm waiting. Tell me why you KNOW it's barren and empty.

Tell me why you KNOW that the area they explored isn't the peaceful, more "normal" area of the map and other areas aren't infested with monsters and caves full of treasure.

If you showed someone a demo of Link to the Past and only walked around Kakariko Village would they think there were no enemies? Why should every corner of the map be filled with enemies?

Why do you KNOW that there aren't dungeons filled with great puzzles and new items that open up areas in the overworld you previously couldn't get to?

We KNOW nothing of this game. We KNOW that there's a big overworld, that the horse controls are semi-automated, that slow motion aiming is a thing, and that you can use gyro controls to aim.

Or they were skipping all the scenes of even more nothing ;)

Nah I think people are over reacting positively or negatively because it's Zelda. I'm very excited, this was a teaser which did exactly what it was supposed to, give us a bit more info while getting us excited/anticipating more.

Seems like part of GAF would have been happier with a CG trailer. I'm personally thrilled we got to see more of the actual game, despite the fact it still has a long time left in development.
