The Legend of Zelda live-action film will release worldwide March 26, 2027

Planning a trilogy already would be a rather odd choice for a company as risk-averse as Nintendo. I mean, how many live action video game adaptations have been super successful? And how many of those starred an elf in a green tunic and funny hat?

And what would you even do with a trilogy anyway? There isn't that much source material like LOTR or Dune that you need multiple movies to adequately cover an adaptation. Every game's plot is super thin already. What would be the story beat for each trilogy? It's hard to imagine. It's even more hard to imagine given that, if Nintendo/Sony Pictures were already looking into the future, the most logical plot in Zelda lore to adapt for a movie is the Imprisoning War, and that has a natural sequel hook already (it's not called the Killing Ganon War, after all). So I could totally see them setting it up with a sequel in mind to hit the ground running if the movie is successful, but planning a trilogy already? Isn't that risky?

Kind of wish this was a CGI movie like the excellent Super Mario movie as that perfectly captured the essence of the video game it was based on in my opinion. Hard to imagine what a live action Zelda movie would look like with Link played by an actor. I'm expecting to be underwhelmed.
100% should have gone CG for this. It won't translate well to live action imo

Hopefully the movie won't be canon to the games like that Halo series and the new DMC series.

Tomas Sangster is 34, too old. They are doing a trilogy. Rather go with younger actors.
I tend to agree, but Thomas doesn't look anywhere close to 34, has that "fairy-boy" look, and has worked with the director before, which is why I picked him.

Although, if it really is going to be a trilogy, then I guess they will have to go for someone younger.

While I thought it had incredibly weak writing, it was still amazingly gorgeous and did pretty nice things with such a thin source material. And I can imagine that kids loved it. I would really have wanted to have seen what the studio did with something lilke Zelda. It would probably have been visually spectacular and had a bit more meat on its bones story-wise.

It's kind of annoying that no one wants to sincerely speculate about this movie, and drop the same casting jokes a thousand times. I guess I'm the only one who ever daydreamed a Zelda movie when I was younger?

I should probably by prepared to be disappointed, but I'm still kind of excided.

Trilogy is confirmed!

Why live action? Should be animated for sure.
Also, please oh please no Millie Bobbie Brown.
Of course she will look 50 by then, so maybe not.

Tom Holland As Link
Zendaya as Zelda
Chris Pratt as Ganon
Nicholas Cage as Tingle
You pose that as a joke, but I could totally, honestly, see Hollywood doing this.

Tom and Z are still relevant to the Gen Zers because of their age association
Chris Pratt for the Millenails and Office Space recognition
Nicholas Cage to get the older crowds that still remember The Rock/ Face-off or hell Raising Arizona.

I would like the idea of this being more of a link to the past-esque, where he finds his uncle dying. Instead of finding the princess right away, link quest would be to actually find/discover who is zelda, between all the girls. Since it's a trilogy, it would be a good way to introduce new girls in every movie and keep people invested on the "mistery". It's a secret to everybody.

If true, this is the way to go! Most LoZ games are teen Link and Zelda. This is for a Trilogy. Shouldn't be casting actors who are older than 30.

In what game are these characters ever older than like 20 at the most? Even the "adult" Link or Zelda seem like they're at most 16-18. If they're kids in Young version in OoT

The rumored or names being thrown for these roles has been older actors around 30 or older!

Which made no sense!

I remain heavily skeptical if a proper Zelda movie can be made. I'm also concerned that they're going to have Link talk and that will open the door for them to have him talk in the games.

Yeah, we tend to forget, but in the Zelda games, Link is usually a teenager—or even just a kid.

It makes sense when you remember those games were originally made for children and teens. Of course the hero saving the world would be their age.

And we'd like to believe the heroes grow up with us — but they don't. We grew up. Link didn't.

Time to face it: we're the old ones now.

But Zendaya and Tom Holland are both over 23...

Also, is ganon going to be young Ganon?
Ganon has always been portrayed as older!

Both Zendaya(28) and Tom Holland(29) both will be over 30 by 2nd movie. Zendaya would better as one of the Gerudo and Tom is looking really older now. No way he passes as a teen.

I love Zelda, but I cannot be less enthused about this movie. The fact that it's live action just puts me off even more.

If anyone still have doubts about Nintendo doesn't have input into the movies.

Weeks back they confirmed young Link and Zelda for the trilogy!

Edit: what other films? Metroid? Please!!

No good can come of this. When a show or movie is bad enough, it can retroactively color my impression of a game. Look at TLOU. Even Part 1 is tinted by the stink of the show for me.
