So we're not getting another Metroid for a long ass time

Nintendo showed their new Wii U Zelda tonight off-screen which tells us it's a ways off in development. We can only imagine how far off a new Metroid game is when they are so reticent to show an already announced game. Metroid is dead. Get used to it.

It's not dead, your body just isn't ready yet. Give it time.

I disagree. Give it time. They can't show everything at once. I am willing to bet that Retro or some studio is working on it as we speak. I expect an announcement within a year.

Metroid isn't anywhere near the draw that Zelda is. Even if they were developing a Metroid that doesn't mean they would necessarily show it before Zelda.

There can only be one coquettish highlander amazonian warrior at nintendo. It's the decade of Bayonetta right now.

Eh, you're making connections where there are none. Who knows what team they may have had tucked away somewhere working on one already.

You're jumping to random conclusions.

Nintendo at E3 said that they are interested in both 2d and 3d Metroid still, and hinted at Retro working on it. The short version is, you're wrong.

I was so sure reggie would say people always ask him about metroid

I would ask him about metroid

Correct me if I'm wrong but no "AAA" titles were announced at the show. I think this is a step in the right direction but huge pubs like Nintendo, Sony, EA, etc. aren't going to announce a huge new title on an unproven award show.

Metroid is an E3 surprise type of game when they get around to making another one.

Pretty sure the next Metroid is a title for the New 3DS made by Retro Studios in 2.5 with the Donkey Kong engine.

Fall 2015

Still without luck
remember that instant when reggie said "people are always asking me about..." and you were screaming in your head and maybe aloud, "METROID"

yeah...

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
After that Star Fox release date microton, and random Nintendo Directs popping up out of oblivion, I don't believe this for a second.

One day I will wake up and new Metroid news will be all over the internet.

You're wrong, OP. The Last Guardian is dead. Half-Life 3 is dead. Shenmue 3 is dead. Metroid is just in a coma. It'll wake up eventually.

Hey I wish there was some Metroid hints or a surprise TOO. I prefer its Sci fi, and for me above the rest of Nintendo's ips. I don't think its dead but also I don't see one even by 2017.. lol maybe that's too far

Holy shit, they show off Zelda gameplay and people still complain.

Because everyone wanted Zelda.

OP, they said a new Star Fox is coming out BEFORE the new Zelda, and yet nobody has seen anything from it. It could very well be into development as we speak, which it most likely is. It's probably a 2016 title at the latest.

Yeah, this was obvious, after other M they really need to be careful with the franchise, just try to enjoy the other niche games Nintendo has released for now.

Both Sakamoto and Retro thought pushing Metroid with a traditional narrative and restrictive progession was the right direction for the series so clearly Nintendo has no idea what made the series great in the first place.

Nintendo and their handling of F-Zero and Metroid is why I have trust issues.

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Why are Metroid fans so dramatic about it being dead all the time?

There was like an eight year gap between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, the last Metroid came out in 2010, and if you disregard that, seven years ago Prime 3. It's not really dead, it's just taking another break because it's not really a yearly series.

Samus gets a decent amount of references by Nintendo, just because an IP doesn't have a new game out every console doesn't mean it's dead. Dead is when a series is completely ignored in every way.

It's not dead! The last one is just in captivity! The galaxy is at peace!
