Elena sighting!

He was also wearing the ring on his finger. Here's hoping that the haven't broken up yet again.

I find it funny that people are calling down grade when the game is still in pre-alpha. I'd say we wait until e3 next year when the game will actually be more ready before calling down grade...
Wouldn't it also have been in pre-alpha during last E3?

The problem with this U4 demonstration, in my opinion: it was very unremarkable. I mean... all of the same we're used to see in every Uncharted game. And it was a long gameplay section. IMO: they should have showed an awesome trailer followed by a 4-5 minute gameplay section of an actually interesting bit of the game.

How is it not interesting? I can just imagine playing through that level and have to make dozens of choices of where I'll go and how I'll engage the enemy.

What Ubisoft did with Watch_dogs has effectively ruined visuals talk in unreleased games into a declarative mess, where people use different shots, with different lighting, with different effects (water) to make a final statement on graphics.

You can't take any conversation like that seriously.

Ah so it's Ubisoft's fault, I see. At least everyone will agree on that I guess !

Did it look like his clothes got muddy after he slid down that hill? Will have to go back and rewatch.

EDIT: Drakes I mean not that guy in well timed gif above me lol

It's uncharted. Is it as impressive as the demo for 2 or 3? Fuck no, not even close.

Is it a system seller for me? Duh. I bought a Vita just so I could play through golden abyss. Bloodborne looks solid, The Order looks better and this looks good. Assuming I have the cash, I am almost definitely getting a PS4 in March.

Need to get some clarification on the control options for The Order and Uncharted. I still hate the DS4 triggers.

I disagree. This was exactly what i hoped for.

For anyone who watched the footage on Youtube, definitely go check it out on the archived Twitch stream before you pass judgement. The Youtube video is a really rough job; washed out, blurry, just generally rubbish. Looks much, much better on Twitch.

I still think Ryse edges it overall. One of my screenshots from that same little area:

But yea, like I said, I think Uncharted, for all its doing, is more impressive.
If Naughty Dog hits 60fps with those graphics I'm impressed. It looks great already (not mind blowing but really good) but I also think Ryse PC looks better than the current UC4 footage we've seen. Either way I'm definitely getting UC4 day one :D

Out of curiosity I took a few images and just applied auto-tone, auto-contrast, and auto-color via photoshop. Nothing else was done to them. Originals on the top, altered on the bottom :

Personally, I like the much softer look that the original game footage has.

Wow that looks way better and I thought it looked perfect already.

i find it funny people still belive alpha to beta to final is such a huge amazing difference. plenty of games have gone from alpha to release without changing much in ghraphics.

This is the core gameplay and it's vastly improved over previous Uncharted games, more open and much more dynamic, closer in nature to TLOU, so how can it be more of the same that we're used to see in every Uncharted game when none of them played like this?

They took the gameplay to the next level here.

I think the texture work and the lighting is better in Ryse there.

But not a huge difference, I agree. I think its a neat comparison because of how similar the environments are there, though.
I think the geometries are better in Ryse. There are some areas in UC4 that looked flat to me but that might be just to make climbable surfaces easier to spot.

lol at people saying that there is downgrade and that it looks just ok. I think what most people are forgetting is that this is pre-fucking-ALPHA footage and it already looks mind blowing.

Wow! Amazing demo. This is what I thought TLOU would play like. We get to see how richly detailed the environments are. The stages look large. We got to see different sized engagements. Some small, some large. We got to see some stealth and traversal. We got some traversal combat and melee. I don't know if the rope swing is a new mechanic or not, but it's new to me. On top of that, we get to see the dense, rich foliage. Wow. Best in game bushes?

I want this game so bad. Some of the animation seems janky, but its early. That's the only blemish I see. This game is gonna be so awesome. I should just preorder it already. PEACE.

Just saw the gamersyde vid. Amazing. And still one year to go. And gunplay seems vastly improved, more dynamic, fluid, options.
If they also expand exploration just like it seems they've done with shooting... This could be a masterpiece.

But i guess there always be people that enjoy shiting just because.
I can't think of a single console game that looks this good. Maybe i am wrong though...

Looks to be the same as all the Uncharted games. Visually impressive but mediocre gameplay. Ubisoft have exactly the same problem with their titles. I'm also surprised that the game may not be running at 60fps. Another example of how weak this new gen is.

You're right but I mean more in that they're still trying to put the game together. I actually understand what some people are saying. I just don't think it's nenecessary to say the game looks worse when it's going to change a lot in the next year or so. In my opinion it looks fantastic. The only noticeable downgrade being Drake's model. (Which I still think is the same model only with a bit less detail in the face)

How is it not interesting? I can just imagine playing through that level and have to make dozens of choices of where I'll go and how I'll engage the enemy.

It could be more interesting. Much more. We've seen this kind of stuff in Uncharted games before. It's different from the U2 reveal with the helicopter and the falling building, for example. Something completely fresh.

Edit

That's what I mean.

It's an Uncharted game. People who love it will get an insanenly good looking new Uncharted game.
People who don't like Uncharted (or don't have a PS4) won't like this one either.

You have seen the hate thrown towards games currently shown in the past two days right? Zelda is being claimed as the downgrade of all downgrades when its in fucking pre-alpha as well, people are being so stupid.

I think the thing that's degrading on this demo is the following things:

1) While the foliage looks like it received a lot of attention, the textures themselves seem to have suffered. The Nathan clothes don't look very detailed at all.. and the rocks lack a lot of detail (almost looking cartoony). The rocks may clearly be an artistic decsion but they look very bland.

2) Shadow maps are low res

3) The water doesn't look very good. I was more impressed with UC3's water system.

4) Not enough particles are flying around to make the scene look believable.

5) The lighting seems the same as in TLoU. Definitely not a step up like some of the more modern games.

Also, we all need to keep in mind that this engine was revised.. and not a ground-up rewrite like most of the newer games are implementing.
So many wrongs in this post it could be its own game!

You don't WANT to like the game, that's fine. Stop this passive aggressive attempt of a technical attack to hide your motives.

Not enough particles to be believable..what does that even mean?

There is nothing wrong with the brightness, its just an artistic choice. It looks very natural and like a painting. I like it.
There is obviously something wrong with the brightness:
uc44rlyh.png

Top and bottom bars are added by the player and are black (RGB 0,0,0).
You can clearly see the background isn't black as it should (RGB 13,13,14).

You can't because there isn't, Ryse is one of the best looking games on consoles and this one looks better (than Ryse on XB1) running at full 1080P with much bigger environments and scope, nothing on consoles comes close.

More stealth opportunities with the thick vegetation and last-seen AI meaning you can break off combat!

And it looks a bit nice.

I think the texture work and the lighting is better in Ryse there.

But not a huge difference, I agree. I think its a neat comparison because of how similar the environments are there, though.

The Ryse PC screenshots are PNGs with lossless hosting. Unfair advantage for texture comparison.

I really disagree.

I think it shows they've learned from thoughtful level design and combat encounter design from something as methodical as TLOU (see updated traversal and climbing mechanics), and how they've moved away from the pointless "shit happening around the player" set pieces, which have become the franchise's own Achilles's heel.

It was an excellent demo full of rich gameplay to demonstrate that.

drake topology is outstanding. You can tell by the way the head tilt animation flexes the sternocleidomastoid, scapula and cervical muscles

hpkrvu.gif

Notice how the neck feels absolutely real in terms of how it's contracting the muscles when looking sideways. Diminishing returns? Rather diminishing playerbase quality. Fewer people will realize the full implications of what's changing and why it is so amazing in comparison.

And runs below 30fps quite often of not mistaken. That is why i wonder what i am missing since some seem to downplay visuals.

Well I thought it looked great. Looks like they've upgraded the platforming and the grapple hook looks awesome.

I also like that the environments were much more open with multiple ways to go.

Seems like they have their mechanics and engine down solid considering it still has another 11 months of development.
