Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

Guys I don't own the game and I wasn't too impressed up until now mainly because of the IQ, I've just seen the Gamersyde weather videos on my TV screen, forget the debates about U4 vs Order and shit, I think this is the most impressive thing ever, including anything on PC, I just can't believe it looks this good, I can literally trick most of my friends and family that I'm watching a live footage, and nothing beats real life right? this is utterly insane.

My question is, for those of you who own the game- does it really looks this good or I'm just over exaggerate things? I just can't :O

If youre watching compressed videos, it looks even better.

welp

oh for fucks sake - i didn't want to buy this game!!

getting my TV back this week and fcuking hell this maybe the game i have to buy to showcase it! Screw you again GAF!!! lol

This game should have been delayed until December with a Beta conducted around 2 months ago. Netcode could have been worked out, weather could have been in, reviews would have been much better, and player impressions wouldn't have been garbage due to the broken game.

Driving in Norway at night you can't see shit with that heavy snowing but it's just absolutely gorgeous with those lightnings <3

The way the rain moves across the windshield when the car is jarred is pretty astounding. I was waiting for them to get this implemented before I bought the game, now I guess I have no excuse anymore. Question for those who have the game... Is the online component really worth playing or is the single player aspect better really the "meat and potatoes" of the game? I let my ps+ lapse and am debating on resubscribing. Thanks.

They probably thought the private beta would be enough--clearly wasn't. Hopefully this year has taught devs that first impressions dearly mater for review scores and that public betas can be really important. Also wasn't BF Hardline delayed after it's public beta? Might have saved them an embarrassing launch.

challenges are like crack

Netcode is working great now. No issues on my end.

Nice for you. Still seems horrendously unreliable to me, just watch how many people drop between the lobby and race every single time. A few days ago it was 'sort of' connected leading to things like ghost cars working but challenge times to just vanish, and I have a healthy stock of received challenges (6 at last count) yet when I try to view them, it says I have none. The thing on the left side of the social menu just displays a timer as it always has, not sure what it's supposed to say since this has never, ever worked. About a third of all attempts to race result in a lost connection, although that's better than the 90% when it launched or the 50% from 3 weeks ago.

It's pretty far from fixed.

Just amazing. 1 more hour until I get to give it a go. Looks sublime.

Regarding the online components - I played solidly online on Saturday for about three hours without a hitch. All challenges and boards working instantly for me and I stayed connected to the same lobby that I first entered. So, for me, it's fine but as above obviously not the same for everyone.

Kinda closing the gate after the horse has bolted comment, I agree entirely though. Evo do not deserve the poor press they're getting because of it's launch debacle. A Beta would definitley have helped.

Maybe the scale games are being designed on these days, a beta is a must to iron out any potential issues that may arise. (Of course, the big guys wouldn't want that as us end users get to 'Try before you Buy' ... horrid concept to the Marketing teams.

On the other hand, it just means that they don't have to be as lazy in the development stages in future and release betas at full price.

Just drove a p2p track in Norway and when heavy snow hit while using bumper cam I was like wwwoooooooooooaaaahhhhhhhh where even am I going!!!!!

This is awesome!

It really does need manual wiper speed settings, though !

I'd like that, and the ability to control the USB music player in-game, and have the track info show on whatever car display panel on the dash. That's hilariously specific and picky but I do think it's a part of the driving experience ;)

if I could have shown that rain GIF to my 12 year old self I would have simply fainted

Mother of god I have never seen anything like this. This is hands down the best looking game I've seen on consoles

The "Challenges" part alone is incredibly addictive and doesn't require a PS+ subscription IIRC, single player has kept me busy enough though. I got the season pass also because they're adding an insane amount of content over the next year (many cars per and 2 SP championships per month).

GOTY material here by the way :)

Out of interest, and slightly off topic...

Could this engine be used for something other than a racing game? Say, an open world apocalyptic first person shooter..?

Holy mother fucking glory of god. I've been looking to compressed footage on PS4 streams and already looks insane.
Makes me want to buy it only for dem graphics, but I only like arcade racers. And with arcade I mean Sega like type of arcade.

Evo said that this is their next-gen (well, current now) engine driving their titles moving forward, so it's meant to be flexible.

Dunno if shooters are possible, but it should be able to make all sorts of racing games at least.

The weather effects raised an eyebrow; what are the remaining issues with the game?

Netcode?
Lack of American automobiles?
Anything else?

I need a sexy looking racer in my life but feel I should be buying and all-around polished product. Is Driveclub there yet?

Game is now working perfectly for me. Weather + Photo Mode + working online = a fantastic racing experience. I stopped playing DriveClub shortly after launch due to the issues, but with today's patch everything now works as advertised. Now's the time to find a good deal on DriveClub and buy it.

So what are the dynamic weather options? Is it just on or off, or is it more granular than that?

Like can I set a race to start off rainy or snowy and then become clear and vice versa? Can you randomize it?

Yes, you can choose light precipitation, heavy precipitation, or dynamic. Light & Heavy choices are fixed for the duration of the race. If you choose dynamic (and have time compression set to 15X or greater), your race could start out with light rain/snow, become heavy and then clear up by the end of race. Or the reverse. It's dynamic every time you race, so you never know what you will get.

Someone needs to stay on one spot with fairly low time compression, and see to which extent the puddles expand and contract.

I hope Motorstorm is in development.
