Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

You wouldn't want to play a VR game at 30fps (guaranteed motion sickness). I have no doubt that this is the main reason why Morpheus support for DriveClub wasn't approved early on (as otherwise it would be the ideal showcase).

This is definitely going to get a Morpheus patch. Even if they dial things back to hit 60fps it'll still look great. Maybe it'll be in a limited version like motorstorm was for stereo 3D.

I am terrible at racing games. Is there an easy mode in this so I can still experience all the content?
There's no easy mode, but the content locking isn't very aggressive. There are no track unlocks, and the vehicles are unlocked just by earning experience.

At worst you might not be able to take part in the high-level tour mode races, which IMO wouldn't be that huge of a deal; if you couldn't handle them, you wouldn't get anything out of them that you couldn't get from other parts of the game.

Just ordered this on Amazon! ended up being $29.99 for some reason! $32 after tax...be on the road in a couple days!

Not even a racing fan but those graphics are to good to say no to at that price. Should be fun!

I was bummed when Motorstorm 2 turned out to be ridiculously challenging and I ended up not being able to play much of it.

There is only one driving model and no assists that make the game easier. I would just ignore the tour mode if I was you as you can unlock all the cars playing any mode and experience what you want when you want rather than doing stuff you might not want to do.

Glad to see a lot of people jumping in and giving the game a chance now. It absolutely deserves it.

Yeah same here. It's a brilliant game but with launch problems I see a lot of people have stayed away from it. Good to see this patch bringing people back in again. My jaw dropped when I first played it, seeing it in motion looks so freaking amazing and this weather patch has just raised that bar even higher.

It's got to the point where I don't even care about racing or driving anymore I just start messing with the TOD and weather type and just gawping at my screen lmao.

drop me some challenges peeps :D

PSN is: WirableSea

Club is: Bimma plz (I think that's how it's spelt)

Awww yeah

I have that racing in torrential rain then coming out of a be greeted by the sun peeking through the clouds on one of the Canadian tracks just now is probably going to be one of those gaming moments that I'll keep hold of. Quite possibly the most beautiful things I've ever seen in a game and I was smiling from ear to ear.

There are times in heavy snow using the driver;s eye camera where my concentration drifted for a second and I literally had no idea where the hell the track was!

I have one small complaint though...
  • Time of Day - Random
  • Time Lapse - x1
  • Cloud Cover - Random
  • Precipitation - Dynamic
Those are my preferred setting for single events and from what I can tell it doesn't matter where you race and how many times you race there, every single race contains rain or snow. That's fine at the moment as I'm messing around with the weather but with the settings I'm using there should also be nice sunny days mixed in with the dynamic weather.
I'm quoting myself here but but of interest, has anybody with random settings managed to end up have a completely clear race does that just not happen?

They need to tone down the amount of light reflecting off the road when there's lightning at night. It's blinding if you go into photomode when lightning strikes.

Setting the precipitation to dynamic guarantees precipitation, as I understand it. This means that the amount of precipitation is dynamic throughout the race. Yes, they need a random setting for it, so that you get your, and my, desired result with those settings.

In all fairness, lightning is ridiculously bright and ridiculously fast. Watch video of any lightning strike and it just over exposes the heck out of the image because it is so bright and so quick that the camera does not have time to adjust.

Everyone should watch this if they haven't already. Truly beautiful.

Thanks! :D Could of made it a lot better but just wanted some raw footage up asap as I was in disbelief at what I was seeing haha. I can't believe that they manage to implement such a drastic change and visual spectacle without dropping a single frame.

For people coming into this game blind, just a little PSA:

One of the first things you're gonna want to do when you get this game is go into your garage and tweak the custom paint jobs. The ones they have preset for you are (I think) pretty ugly.

A quick demonstration (not my video)

Just a heads up because its not always apparent to people you can do this. You can also choose to eschew designs altogether and go with solid colors if that's your thing. Once these customs are set, they can be used on any of your non-club cars when you go into any race. But the tweaking of the designs themselves have to be done in the garage!

Thanks, that's the feeling I had about it.

I like having it all set up as random so things just happen when they happen so I don't want to be switching things on or off to get a particular type of weather, I think it's important that the precipitation is random too but it should also takes into account the location, time of day, etc. I'm loving the weather so I almost don't want to complain about but I think it's important that they sort this out so that you don't know what you're going to be facing on a race.

Thanks for posting this, I figured it out myself but I recall a lot of confusion at launch with people thinking you either couldnt customize it at all, or that you couldnt use single solid colours ( I think even Giant Bomb didnt know that )

Not a race but I have with a time trial (strangely I got the best time when it was pissing it down), started dry and partly cloudy then towards the end it started to become overcast and spitting, then chucked it down on the next lap. It happens quite frequently when you have it at x60 but only seen it once on an x1.

What the hell ... the rain looks real life...the droplets on the camera...OMG....real next gen starts here!

Bravo EVO!! I will buy this game soon to support these guys. They deserve the sales to stay alive.

It really does look real, even my wife a non gamer who is hard to impress was gazing at it while I played.

Alright weather is the real deal folks. As someone who was super skeptical, i came away very impressed with the visuals and water physics at play. Only thing i would add is a little mist obfuscating players behind, better ambient sound when raining especially in cockpit view and some deep puddles causing hydroplaning like pgr 4.

I think the iq might have improved but cant be sure. The framerate is incredibly silky to boot.

+1 to this request as no-hud Time Trials with random settings are my go-to mode for playing DC. So fucking good.

Though lately its so damn easy to look into the current challenges and get completely lost in all of that stuff.

Some cars can only be unlocked if you're a club member though. That's worth adding.

So was this sold as an Early Access game or something? It's clear this "feature" wasn't something whipped up in a few days and it's too mundane of an accessory to be seen as some free DLC stuff.

This new weather system was announced late into the development cycle. It was always meant to come later because they knew it wouldn't be ready for launch.

I do the same thing you do, and I agree - clear days should enter the rotation. I'll bring this to rushy's attention. (I bet he doesn't have anything going on right now.)
