My posts come across like someone who can't stand the apologists for this.
People can't seem to stop stroking developers and worshiping them up and some pedestal, realizing these are companies that promised a product and did not deliver, and should suffer the consequences of that.

What's incredibly hilarious is that you haven't paid a cent towards Driveclub and you're still irrationally upset about it.

This thing is going to go greatest hits before the plus version releases.
The game works absolutely fine.
It's also a few months after release and around Christmas, so a discount isn't exactly "bomba" worthy.

Once again consoles are bought on promises and potential. This is par for the course, and obviously they won't always meet those promises. But this goes beyond any reasonable level of missing the mark.
It's fine. You can keep loving them and I'll enjoy watching them fold.

Seriously though. Driveclub is excellent driving game. It's not about tuning or customization. It's more skill based in which everyone driving the same car on the same track under identical conditions for time trials, It's all entirely dependent on the players ability to make the best time to be beaten. You can't just slap in a turbo or do a weight reduction to compensate. It's all on the onus of the driver and the optimal line he takes, nailing each corner and apex, and getting the most of out each straight, to achieve the best possible time.

It doesn't need to fit the definition. It is "free" as in "not actually free". It's in quotes because it doesn't meet the definition but can be recognized in a similar way.
To someone who has PS+ and views the bonus games per month as boon rather than the primary expectation for subbing, it is 'free'. But it literally is not free for reasons you already stated.
This isn't a radical use of the language or anything.
It is radical use. It is not free. It is not a bonus. It is part of the subscription service being paid for.
If it's working fine why isn't it on PS+ yet? To me, it's either not working correctly and is not on PS+ or it is and is up on PS+.
Is that the nice way of saying it has a metacritic score of 71?

Is this promo part of that Green Monday sale? Or is it just on sale for a few days? I ask because I want to go to BB so they can price match since I have a $5 gift certificate.
Honestly, I'd probably pull the trigger on this had I had a chance to try the game via PS+ like I originally planned to. As it stands I'll continue to wait for that version before deciding whether or not the full game is for me (as I've always said). Pls Sony.

I can only imagine how upset you'd be if a game you actually bought didn't meet your expectations.
I do, and that usage really doesn't apply here. Because it is literally the opposite of free. It isn't "free" like you paid for something but got a rebate or a gift card for the amount paid. It is not free in any sense, quotes or not.
But I did buy it. As part of the subscription I pay for. So your point makes no sense.

One could make the argument that because Sony planned to give us the Driveclub PS Plus Edition IN ADDITION to the regularly scheduled games added to PS Plus, the plus version of DC actually IS free.

You didn't buy it. You bought a subscription to PS+. At no point did you ever pay Sony money for any version of Driveclub, because, as we all know, it was never part of the Instant Game Collection.
Again, get a grip, let it go and stop wishing misfortune on the developers of a game that you never bought. This thread is about Driveclub being on sale for $35, and not about the ludicrous reasons you'd like to see a game studio closed.
Come back to us with that when they actually get with the times and stock PS4/XB1 games!There's always Redbox.
Seriously, worst thing about this generational shift versus prior ones, Blockbuster basically collapsed, mom and pop rental stores are far scarcer, and so you're stuck either with GameFly and luck of the draw or Redbox, and Redbox is really taking its time getting new consoles stocked likely because it's just a single kiosk that can't hold a lot of stuff (also why I kind of hate them as a rental option.)
There are so many failed attempts at superiority in that logic it could make your head spin.
Even in the event someone thought you were correct from your perspective that paying for an annual subscription for ~$50 that includes timed access to games is, indeed, "buying it," then you only really pre-ordered the Driveclub trial. It's never been made available, so you "bought" something well before it was even available.

Damn, most of the ones near me stock PS4 games. That's how I played DC and COD: AW.

Great timing, heh. I was hoping for $40-30 and them weather gifs...from the retail version. Sold. I do hope when all is said and done this is a success story for Evolution, or they at least break even. There's weather patch buyers and the PS+ thing whenever it comes that should spike sales up a bit. Hopefully the reviews change over time...oh who am I kidding.
i got it from PSN yesterday for $50, and yes, its worth it...
