Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

I have my issues with this game but I am so goddamn impressed at how good this weather looks. Amazing stuff.

That snow gameplay ElTorro posted looks fucking real, and I've driven in storms like that before. Wild!

A few gameplay shots. The game looks and feels astonishing with this weather update. Can't wait to delve deeper.

EDIT:
While I'm thinking of improvements it would improve things if it was possible during an event to pause it and select to change the car your using if you're clearly using the wrong car for the job, At the moment it's so slow to change the car and get back to an event so if they could somehow add that so that you don't have to go through several menus to quit out to the cars and more menus to get to the start of the race again.
Are you talking multiplayer events? Because single player events and challenges are crazy quick to drop back to the menu, change things and jump back in. At least I can't think of a single other racing game that gets anywhere even near the ballpark of DC's quick load times and transitions.

I cannot believe this shit looks like this. My lord. This is the best looking racing game I've ever seen now, man what I would do for a PC that could run this at 60fps for ultimate perfection.

Improvements:
* Adds the ability to access Club Cars when offline.
* Adds the ability to access Club Paint Jobs when offline.
Sanity prevails! That was always a stupid situation, nice to see they fixed it up eventually (even if it was really only relevant while the servers where down which isn't an issue now lol).

I had some reservations about the 30fps, but the game really controls very well. AFAIK, the simulation runs at a higher framerate than the graphics.

Beautiful.

Can anyone confirm the aliasing fix?

There is a very noticeable difference.

The weather masks it I think. Someone in here said there's no aliasing improvement. Someone said there is.

We need screenshots of India on sunny day pls

Can you all just stop with the weather for a minute and upload some?

I have been playing the career without weather and there is definitely a difference that I'm seeing.

Ive said it previously in this thread but this feels like a whole new game with this patch. Dynamic weather challenges are crazily addictive. Also driven over 1000 miles on the kyle alone (I like that track)

Why do people play from cockpit view? I mean, sure it looks nice, but doesn't it restrict your vision?

Many of us enjoy the immersion. It is a bit restricting in vision but it's a more authentic racing experience. Once you get used to it, it's just as usable as any other camera view.

For immersion basically. It actually helps a bit with the weather also because you actually have windscreen wipers. Too bad the audio sounds way too muted in that view.

Yeah, I always use the front cam without obstructions. I only used the cockpit view in the night/snow for the lulz and increased challenge.

oh I agree, it's one of the best pure racing experiences I've played in probably half a decade or more. It cannot be overstated just how great Driveclub is as a racing product; it's sublime.

I just am a graphics whore and my brain is swimming imagining all these graphics @ 60fps. One day, Ps5 remaster *swoon*

Like what some people believed with the previous game update, but direct comparison in fact showed no noticeable change.
It's just a matter of lighting conditions, from what I can tell.

"Adds the option to configure Throttle/Brake controls onto Up/Down on Right Stick."

As a twin-stick driver, I'm now glad I skipped buying the game at the beginning, but this seals it, I think... I was waiting for PS+ version, but I think I may go ahead and bite now.

Immersion and feedback. Hands on the steering wheel gives me a better sense of the way the wheels are pointing and how much I'm pushing on my inputs (controller user here), subtle camera shifts give a great sense of speed and the forces at work on the car, and I actually dig looking at the car's actual dash to see speed and revs.

If I used a wheel I'd use a different in-game view though.

Agreed. The aliasing is also terribly distracting during daytime. I don't notice it that much when I'm racing but from time to time I just think "God damn how nice would this look with proper AA and AF"

Honestly, when I'm racing seriously in this game its always the farthest 'behind the car' view. I only used the cockpit view for effect in my video, I thought it would make it look a bit more realistic.

But yeah, using the wayback camera gives you so much more peripheral vision.

Style over substance?

Not at all. The game is, at its core, one of the best racing experiences on any platform.

That said, I mostly take part in drift mode to remain at the top of the leader board and drift challenges from other clubs. (I'm currently leading a club drift challenge on Chile in the Marussia). Racing in racing games doesn't do a lot for me, but I will redo the same stretch of track for hours.

Once again for fence sitters: DriveClub is legitimately amazing. It is a PURE racing game in the truest sense of the word, skill vs. skill with incredible racing mechanics/simulation.

If you miss the days when you could just test your pure skill on the racing tarmac without having to worry you have the wrong upgrade or whatever, this is the game for you.

I like the Marussia drift event but the scoring for drift is broken and so are the score on the leaderboard. I just can't be happy with myself if I cheese my way like the top ghost.
