Well.... Have all of Wave 2 and 3 (Except Lucario (am I out of luck here?) and Rosalina) pre-ordered through a mix of Amazon, Best Buy and Game Stop.

If I keep these pre-orders, including doubles I'll have of Villager, Shulk and Mega Man. And the two I've given my niece and nephew (Mario and Pikachu) and the two I'm getting them for Christmas.. That is 33. WTF.
 
So I bought Village, Wii Fit Trainer and Marth from Nippon-Yasan. Hopefully they come in good condition.. I'm scared.

Hmm, they ship to Australia for $20 all up. That's not bad, considering they're 15-18 locally. Should I get one? D:

EDIT: Too late, got one! Glad to finally have a Marth, after two different extremely close misses.

EDIT 2: They cancelled and refunded straight away! It now says out of stock. This is literally the 3rd time this has happened to me, haha :(

Wow, that really sucks.

Mine is still up.. for now.

Nintendo must be laughing at all of us right now. :(
 
I see people dropping hundreds of dollars on Hearthstone packs and suddenly feel better about my $22 free shipping for 3 amiibo lol
 
Wait so you're telling me that I may not have a chance to get Lucario at all... and it's about 3 months til it even releases... Nintendo this is getting kinda silly

I honestly don't know how to feel about this right now. Gonna go preorder Shulk and Metaknight tomorrow, if I even can :(
 
Since they are not region locked, if Japanese does not discontinue them like stupid NoA does, then we shouldn't be worry too much (unless u wait very long to buy it).
 
Hoping Rosalina is Target or Walmart and I can get my preorder in on time.

Also Fox looks like it's selling out places online. This is fucking ridiculous now.
 
So are these things actually a satisfying thing to use in games? I see a lot of talk about collecting the toys but not so much about their use.

Half curious about picking up one to see for myself but curious of people's opinions who have already bought in.
 
Guys, Lucario is not completely sold out. It's only sold out online at Toysrus.com. They haven't even started preorders in store yet. Stop worrying.

I enjoy training and playing against my Pikachu.

So far the biggest use is in Smash where you train them and it's actually pretty fun. A lot more fun than I thought it would be and at max level they become pretty damn good even if you don't feed them equipment to make them over powered. In other games they just unlock stuff so far so nothing great but a nice perk. I mainly wanted some because they are good quality Nintendo figures for the price that also have a cool use in smash and provide other benefits to other games and will most likely see more use in the future.

Weirdly enough, my order has now changed from cancelled to preparation in progress, payment accepted? *shrug* Guess I'll wait and see what happens.

Just picked these up, man gotta say they're pretty shoddily painted, I've seen gashapons with better production values. Marth is the biggest offender.
 
Thoughts on display stands for a large number of amiibos? Looking for some kind of plastic stairs stand for my bookcase, gonna end up with quite a few of the figures. :P

Not sure why you think that. Just because preorders for unknown quantities are "sold out" at a select few major online retailers means nothing. You will still be able to walk into any store (target, TRU, Best Buy) on release day and get your pick of figures.
 
I'd never heard of Entertainment Earth, but I went ahead and ordered Villager from there. I'm not going bonkers to collect all of them, but Animal Crossing is a franchise I adore. Note to self: pre-order next time.
 
I don't even collect toys but I ended up ordering a couple (Villager and pre-order of Rosalina) just because of the hype. I live in Japan so I probably shouldn't even have hurried. The Villager isn't going to run out any time soon.

Anyway my amiibo arrived today and while I'm satisfied with the quality (better than Happy Meal toys), I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I spent 1,113 yen on small piece of plastic. If I were sane, I would pay 500 yen (approx. 5 dollars) tops for this thing. I've had better toys for much cheaper than I was a kid. But then, I didn't collect figures.

Why are figure collectors willing to shell out top dollar for stuff like this?
 
Thought I wouldn't bite but I finally got 7 today, including 4 from wave 2 in preorder. I'm weak. At least I have my girls as an excuse. I got these for them, of course. That’s what I'll tell my wife anyway :)

Anyone see the article about how gamestop is going to only have enough Shulks for preorders only to try to increase rarity and demand? Pretty darn shady if true 😑

Nintendo News has a poor track record when it comes to rumors and the guy admitted he had no sources/doesn't check his sources for the one story he had that blew up.

Retailer exclusive or not, Shulk would likely have one of the smallest runs due to the game hes from and Gamestop generally orders to cover preorders for niche games/items. So low amounts on store shelves would really be nothing unusual. Preorder the figure if you want him because he will have a lower run, not because you suspect that Gamestop is going to horde all the extras.
