Am I the only one who sees a chest on the player model everytime it's in profile? Especially in the hilltop money shot, where as soon as Link is in profile Aonuma pulls it back and the horseback archery. If it's a guy, then it's weird musculature for a such a thin character model.

With the shiekah shield, it makes me really want this to be Zelda.

I kinda thought the same thing about his musculature but he does seem to have a male voice. Link's always been a wispy, slight dude, I guess.

Aw man, I'd forgotten about those pre-release forests in TP.

Nice work, but it dissapoints me to no end. I want a new world, new cities, new areas.
Not diving in Lake Hylia for the 10th fucking time.

I'm OK with it. It will be the first time we really get to see, and more importantly explore, Hyrule as one big fully realized landmass and not zoned parcels with weird barriers all over cutting them off from one another.

I love the fact that at least in the original teaser there are several huts you can see located in the valley and I really want to see the world layed out like somewhere people live in and not just having NPCs relegated to the few town zones.

I mean, there's only so much one can infer from a rough sketch of massive slice of 3D geography. There could be robots in them hills!

The map looks a lot like a Zelda map, so I'm going to assume that the game takes place in the Zelda Timeline.

It a guy. You can hear the ss voice actor in the Japan video. The dearm us dead

It's a year a way, so there's always time to change, which is likely with every one noting how off it is.

But Aonuma even jerks the stick back like he notices when link is in profile.

Interesting...

What if there's a secret, fourth timeline?
Say, a timeline break where a Hero does arrive and beat up Ganon before the gods resort to flooding a certain instance of Hyrule...

If I told you it was called Lake Guzzlepoof, would you enjoy diving into it more? Because that's how arbitrary it is. It means nothing ultimately.

True, but wouldnt it be more amazing if you didn´t knew whats behind the next mountain?
With this reveal i already know half the game. Meet some Zoras, do some water-shit, Go to the gerudos, walk trough a sandstorm, dive lake Hylia for a totally unexpected temple, go to the mandatory fire mountain and do fire stuff. Ride Hyrule field and find a farm. Get milk. Look at the girl. Hit some chicken. Rescue a tree in the Kokiri woods. All planned for ages by the goddes, just waiting there for you to stumble on it. Meh.

Majoras Mask and Links awakening where much, MUCH, better in simulating the feeling of the original Zelda. new lands to explore, nothing there exists just waiting for a hero in a green tunic. You were the outsider to mess everything up. Now its back to checklist Zelda. Thats sad.

Yep. Also make it a different shape and pot it in the north. Problem solved.
Point is: I know Lake Hylia. I know theres a temple. I crossed this bridge. I know the next page in the book. The book is still good, but i already read it on more ugly paper.

You're diging way to deep into this, i don't see anything.

I do agree, it'd be nice if there was a new voice.

Looking at this screen in particular, I notice something: this Link really seems to live on his horse. Look at the bedroll and full satchel attached. He's a wanderer.

I'm quite curious what is in the SW corner of the map. At first I thought it was Death Mountain seeing as it has a very high elevation with then a very very deep circular center, you know like a volcano. But as other's have pointed out from shots in the video the NE mountain very much resembles Death Mountain and it lines up with the layout of the land from OoT, same as all the other regions of the world.

So now what is that in the SW? And why is the center a perfect circle? Could it be another volcano or something else entirely. The entire thing is likely quite large as it's almost all white which indicates the highest elevation. Maybe they decided to teleport Snow Peak mountains from the NW to the SW. Still doesn't explain the huge deep hole which is almost black, indicating it's the lowest elevation though.

True, but wouldnt it be more amazing if you didn´t knew whats behind the next mountain?

There's always room for change, they have never been above completely ignoring continuity as clearly seen with the geography of TP compared to OoT, and I'm sure it will be the same here to one degree or another. There will be major new landmarks and locations not present in either of the aforementioned games and things that should be in one place will likely show up somewhere else. Plus we have all the in between stuff now. There's a great opportunity to fill in the gaps with new and interesting content that wasn't possible with the narrow zones from OoT and TP. It's all about the execution for me. There's nothing stopping them from taking a familiar location and still making it feel fresh and new.

I haven't watched any of the analysis videos yet, but has anyone noticed this yet?

There's a d-pad icon on the box with the arrow. Is this going to be a new way to swap between arrow types or horseback weaponry?

Most Zelda games share these geographical features and the only one you're describing to a T is Ocarina of Time. Maybe tone down your cynicism until your fears are actually validated.

All of this is in your head. The map layout alluding to a previous game means nothing at this point.

Link uses both bomb arrows and that mech/magic arrow in the first trailer, so i'd say it's safe to assume that he does switch arrow types.

Link is hawkeye in this game.

Why does Link have an hour glass shape though? Especially for his thin frame.

ocarina-of-time-young-link.png

That thin OoT waist. Unrealistic standards, if you ask me.

Yeah, you're going to be disappointed as fuck when this game come out

Am I missing something? Is the Zelda cycle come to even doubt the quality of mainline Zelda game at a point where be hyped for its release is "preparing for disappointment"? :\

It sure is. ^^ Maybe i am just angry and burned from Skyward Sword right now. Had to take a break from it for a month now. Everythings just a loop, planned by a goddess, waiting for you. No stone exists thats not there to proof your worth. The world is there for Link and and Link only. Whats the point. And what is used to proof my value? temple in the woods, firetemples, watertemples, etc etc. time-shifting was the only original part.

When i see this map i have a feeling they doing it again. Nice overworld but essentially its OoT/TP again. And again. And again. Lets hope i am wrong. ^^
Links detailed inventory gives me the biggest hope. Maybe i just walk the land and ignore the dungeons and i am a happy man.

Hyrule is hyrule. If the game takes place in hyrule, it will be based off pre-existing hyrules. Hyrule has a lake hylia. Hyrule has a death mountain. Hyrule has a (gerudo) desert. Hyrule has a (kokiri) forest.

For a whole new setting, it has to take place outside of hyrule (Termina, Koholint, Labrynna, etc.). Those locations are usually reserved for sequels or handheld games.

How do we know it's going to be called Hyrule?

We don't, but it's a pretty safe guess. Every major console (non-sequel) release takes place in Hyrule (or what will become Hyrule in SS). No reason to think this time it will be different. Unless this takes place BEFORE skyward sword, you can bet this will be called Hyrule.

lol at still thinking it's a girl. You guys are just grasping at straws here.

He's arching his back in that archery shot, pushing his chest out. And that strap that goes around him adds more bulk in some... Areas. Just give it up man, Link is a dude.

To be honest...thats how adventures work. You are the chosen one, the hero, the one and only, the one who saves the world from great evil.
I doubt they will change it because thats what everybody wants: to be a true hero.

I agree. But i´ve been to Hyrule so many times i don´t want to save it anymore. I am sick of it. Let it burn.
Give me a new continent. I want the excitement of not knowing whats behind the next corner. It sounds strange but knowing about Death mountain kills my excitement to actually visit it. Maybe to look at how its realized in hd, but otherwise i know what to expect.

Only half true. Good adventures make you struggle to actually become the hero. No one planned it, you just happened. You made yourself the chosen one. Like in majora. SS was the boring opposite.

If you ask me, this is the first time we get to save the 'TRUE' Hyrule. All other hyrules were Facsimiles of what hyrule was actually supposed to look like.

The next game can have a new setting. Just let me explore a 'full sized' hyrule, and then we can talk about new countries/worlds.

You actually, literally do not.

Yes i do. Gorons. Fire. Firebats. Iron. Lava.

Don´t get me wrong, i am still really excited about it. But it could have been better. (for me)

Exact. Maybe you know the names of the locations but it won't look or play like any other Death Mountain before that. I bet this game will shake up some things we take as given and will play with our imagination...I hope that at least.^^

A personal favorite of mine would be the story between OoT and Wind Waker, where hyrule gets flooded/destroyed in the end, just because I think it's such an important/interesting periode that has only been referenced. With Wind Waker HD on WiiU this could make a coherent back to back zelda experience.

I was thinking this is a real possibility at this point. When I watched the game play demo, with all those sprawling mountains and rocky outcroppings that rise into the sky, I kept thinking how it looked more like Wind Waker without the water. Plus Link isn't wearing his usual outfit, but he is wearing blue every time we've seen him, and primarily fighting with a bow instead of a sword.
It would kind of make sense if it was the Great Flood.

Many Zelda games have a big shift once you get a bit into them

In ALTTP/ALBW you unlocked the Dark World/Lorule
In Ocarina you traveled 7 years into the future
In TP you got the ability to turn into a wolf whenever (WOW.gif) also the game's pace sped up by a huge margin

What do you guys think they could do for this game?

I'm kinda salty that we've never had Death Mountain go into full eruption mode. Could be triggered by a villian, making a volcanic winter take place.

No Gorons on death mountain in ALttp, Skyward Sword, or Wind Waker. They existed as a race in the latter two, but they did not inhabit death mountain.

I think the only safe bet is lava, as you can see a smoke cloud in the first trailer.

What do you guys think they could do for this game?

Have a big open world.
/s It's actually probably related to those arrows and that golem-spider chasing link.

Oh shiiii...

Someone overlay the Great Sea over this map. Do it. :0

Those? What are you talking about ?

Happy pappy Zelda.

I'm not holding my breath for it, but changing seasons as you progress in the game could be cool.

That'd be cool. I'm trying to figure out if Miyamoto's comments about apples being in the trees before was implying that they had removed them for the demo, or that they appear only at certain "times" in the game
