Did anyone else's pre-order from entertainment earth get cancelled? They say "We have been notified by the manufacturer that we will not be receiving any additional shipments of Nintendo Amiibo Animal Crossing Villager Wii U Mini-Figure". I'm confused... I thought Nintendo had confirmed they were making more of wave 1 Amiibos. What's the latest word on this? Are they or are they not discontinued?

Sounds more like Nintendo had limited supplies for NA of certain characters, and the suppliers for places aren't able to get any more. They're selling through the print, and will probably keep selling through them very quickly.
It sounds like best bet is hope more ship with wave 2, or alternatively try ordering from somewhere like Play Asia.

This company is the devil. They make extremely limited supplies of wave 1 which makes the demand for wave 2 shoot through the roof. I'm not gonna fall into the trap of paying insane prices for the Amiibos I'm missing. I'm gonna try to get the ones I can by pre-ordering but for the rest? Screw it. If Nintendo never makes anymore of Villager/Marth/WFT, they won't get my money.

Truth is no one knows for sure. There's a Japanese pic of them shipping with Wave 2 but no one's confirmed anything.

So which ones out of wave 2 should I pre-order? I've already got Shulk pre-ordered.
Once wave 2 hits any Marth/Villager/WFT will dry up fast. Between the 12th and the 24th will be a crazy hunt here in Canada. Fuck it. I'll just import the JAP Amiibos and call it a day. This thirst is way to real and I haven't felt this consumed by collecting toys since my Beast Wars collecting days.
Mario universe characters are here to stay. They're very well known and are popular. I don't expect Bowser to deviate away from this.

Went to my local Toys R Us tonight to just look around and they had four Zelda Amiibo figures out. So, I grabbed one to buy because, hey, why not? And when I brought it up to the counter the lady said I cannot buy it until the 12th. I already have all of wave 2 preordered at Gamestop but it's nice to know we will probably get wave 2 on the 12th. So, there's that.

Well he is wave 3, for 2 I would suggest at least Little Mac and maybe Cap Falcon. As for Wave 2 for those asking I believe it is the 12th.
Kirby characters aren't as well known as Mario, Donkey Kong, or TLoZ characters. He might be somewhat difficult to tract down at some point but not RARE rare. Well that's my speculation anyway. Just preorder it if you have the chance.
Seems to be already sold out most places online. My guess is yes. Gamestop still has it. Their shipping prices are crazy though. I tried to order 4 amiibos but they wanted $15 in shipping. Nope. I'll only be buying Shulk there because I have to.

Preorder at TRU or BB to save your self a ton of money. It's buy 1 get 1 40% off online at TRU and if you have GCU at BB you get 20% off making them $10 each.

i recommend importing from Japan if you see them available. Unless you care about the packaging, there's less of chance of cancellations from most import sites cuz once they sell out, they usually close preorders.

I'm staying away from buying amiibo online. The chances of getting ones with defects are high and I don't want to risk having to ship them back. Whats GCU?

I've ordered almost all of mine from Best Buy, including some doubles to open, and all but one were shipped nice and safe in a box. The Fox that came in a Bubble Mailer was ordered over Black Friday Weekend so that could have effected why it was the lone one shipped in a bubble mailer. I've been surprisingly satisfied with ordering them from Best Buy given they are $10 with GCU.

Best buy has always been really good to my orders, I order a lot of CEs from them that come in a nice sturdy box, with Amazon it's almost always in an envelope and damaged -_-

So I examined some Amiibos at my local store and noticed the quality control isn't too consistent. For example on 2 different Samuses there were painting differences around the legs. 2 different Links had slightly different iris positions, and the 2 Foxes I saw had plastic moulding lines on their snouts (one had it on both sides, the other only on the left).
I was actually planning to get Fox today but I'll hold off till I find one without the defects.

Completely depends on where they ship from. Here in Phoenix, I have never received poor packaging. But I hear others complain all the time. I'd say they are better than most.
It's not impossible to find in a store if you are lucky. Online yes, though play-asia has Japanese imports which will run you about $28 with shipping.
Nobody really knows if there will be more or not, you kind of have to assume there won't be.
