I'd like to think that he had been in contact with Vaatu since one of the portals was opened, and it had been corrupting his mind.

My finals are about a month away, screw you guys.

In what way? he was already evil, he blamed his brother, and was part of the red lotus.

Unalaq was the one that controlled Vaatu, not the other way around.

He's bad, he's a Red Lotus anarchist, but dominating the world with pure evil power sounded like Vaatu brainwashed him.

Looking at this picture of Korra reminds me so much of how different she was back then.... It's so weird. Almost a bit unsettling.... 2fierce4me

Ok, I can already tell this is going to be predictable, so it's going to have to rely on it's execution by using its well developed characters and....pffffft I can't. The fact that the last episode already implies a smaller scale than previous books means that there's less reason to be involved. It just won't have the same oomph.

What could that weapon possibly be other than the spirit tank?
There is no foreshadowing of anything more, unless it was like a flying tank.

Pretty much don't tell a Korra fan that you still consider some animes better than Korra.

I've been on the sort-of opposite side of that conversation. I'm not an either "best show ever!" or "worst show ever" type to post of Facebook, but there's this friend I have who's really intense about her disapproval of LoK, repeating things she learns on forums, I can tell. And I'm like, "chill..."

She watches it, but I ignore the subject around her now. Don't care that she's one of the few fans of the Avatar series among my friends. She's pretty intense around other subjects also. I still have plenty of friends of Facebook who like/love the show, but I don't want to bring her out in the comments :S

Looks like they're finished. Going to really miss the show.
"THAT’S A WRAP!"

Yeah. As much as I complain I still like the show, it will be missed.

Yeah some people just can't handle criticism of their favorite show without going to war over it.

With regards to the last episodes

I predict Wu will let the Earth Kingdom have democracy and go around the world helping people or something. If they actually put him back in power, I don't know what they will do...

Man this season feels like filler.

Again, Wu is still totally gonna be King in the end. The only way I can get any satisfaction is that they somehow imply that he' and his ilk will suffer the same fate as the Bourbons. The closer to the fate of Louis XVI for Wu, the better. None of that silly exile business, straight up beheading up in this bish.

I don't get what lesson they're trying to push with the Wu thing, that it's better to have an incompetent king because he inherited the throne? The Earth Kingdom is better off not being a Kingdom and everyone can see.

I would hope they'd just have him come to realization he doesn't want to be king...but Bryke are testing my faith.

They're pretty clearly setting Wu up to 'grow' into a worthy king. More of the conservative bent of the Avatar world showing through, I suppose.

Nope still only one episode this week.
Episode 11 this Friday and then episodes 12 & 13 are shown as a two part finale on 19th December next week.

thanks

I think I'll wait for the 19th and just down all 3 in a row and hope for ze best.

See but that's the thing, we haven't seen any growth in his character. Last episode he was still trying to hook up with Korra and being a comic relief.

If it's the final words of a peasant dying in Wu's arms, it just might work. o:

I don't think Wu is even a bad person per say. Just young and somewhat immature. I mean he hasn't actively tried to fuck anyone over. When compared to the Republic City President who only purpose in the story is complain and tell people no while trying to use the Earth Kingdom to further his own country Wu doesn't seem that bad.

Yeah, but so what? The show has never been terribly bothered about endorsing authority figures who are bad in a variety of ways, so long as they basically have their hearts in the right place re: governing. Bumi was super-irritating to work with, and at one point his people felt like he'd totally abandoned them to the Fire Nation. Earth King what's-his-name was basically useless in every way, but it was a happy ending when the usurper Long Feng was overthrown. Yue's dad never took any criticism for leading a pretty sexist tribe, and he set up an unwanted arranged marriage for his daughter. Desna and Eska are now the chiefs of the Northern Water Tribe (or something like this) after mostly helping to try to bring about 1000 years of darkness. It was even a bad thing when Zaheer took out the tyrannical Earth Queen.

Zuko's maybe the one king we've seen who was probably all around decent.

Wu already said that his plan was basically just to let his advisers govern, and they're from people who the show clearly holds up as on top of things, like Tenzin.

Hmm... it is curious how the monarchs/royalty in the Avatar-verse are usually depicted as good or "innocent". The Earth Queen being the exception due to being just a bad person that got her comeuppance and the preventable consequences presented as failure for Zaheer.
Whereas "modern" people, are depicted as evil, anatoganists, or incompetent. Amon with ideas of equality, Zaheer's trimmed down anarchy, President Raiko being a product of democratic process, and Kuvira's idea of modernized totalitarian state much aligned with post-Second industrial revolution Chinese Manisfo. Weird, eh?
Edit: Arguably Su, a utopian circa early-mid 19th century social experiments, was incompetent on how she dealt with Kuvira and the Earth Kingdom situation.

I didn't say they were doing it well. I put 'grow' in quotes for a reason.

The Earth Queen being the exception due to being just a bad person that got her comeuppance and the preventable consequences presented as failure for Zaheer.

I don't think she's an exception at all. The show was pretty clear that Zaheer is the worse option between the two, if anything. And the fact that Wu is even still being treated as the heir is a clear endorsement that she had the right to rule, even if she wasn't a good ruler.

When I think about it... yeah... the royalist/conservative option being the better choice over the show's representation of modern ideas still holds true in that case. Avatar gotta keep dat status quo, gotta keep the plebs/proletariat/non-benders in their place.

Edit: Ya know, it'll be an interesting idea for an Avatar-verse show have the Avatar as the antagonist to well-meaning revolutionists. Pretty much a inverse of Legend of Korra.

Yeah, I've had that idea in the past too.

They could say Vaatu grew inside the avatar and they became a tyrant, like Injustice Superman.

Then the show revolves around a small team working against that Avatar. Would be a good way to do a show without having an inherently OP character as the protagonist.
