Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

I think you'll enjoy it for the graphics alone.

Just when I think I'm starting to become complacent with these graphics.

Totally. Blown. Away.

Tired as fuck. Wanted to do one more Tour event before heading to bed last night. Ended up retrying a drift event for about 30 minutes until I finally got the required score for all 3 stars. I then also proceeded to do a tour race event as well as a club challenge. What was supposed to be 10 minutes of Driveclub before heading to bed, ended up being 90 minutes of Driveclub. God damn this game is great.

Exactly the same.

Seeing a flood of water move across your windshield and then get wiped away when turning hard never gets old.

I have to say that I'm disappointed with their snow. I don't have the game yet but driving in heavy snow usually sells a racing game for me.
I just youtubed several videos of their snow weather expecting that to hype me into buying it but it didn't. Way too rainy looking snow for me.
I'll probably still pick it up eventually but with all the weather hype, and with how good rain looks, I thought that the snow would blow me away.

So which racing games have you bought previously?

I'm a pretty casual driving gamer but I thought the snow in Dirt 3 was particularly fun to drive in. GT5 was good for snow also.

Am i right though, is it very wet looking? I like the sound of the tyres crunching over snow on the actual road.

Isn't that how snow looks when driving through it from a camera's perspective? Looks almost spot-on to me.

And here's heavy snow falling with no car motion.

"What's important to note is that DriveClub's AA is at its best in motion - stopping your car actually accentuates the game's aliasing issues."

I don't recall them mentioning this in the first analysis. It would explain why it looks so clean and I never had a problem with the image quality besides some of the aliasing on the cars.

Nice to see the framerate is stable as fuck.

Yeah, rock solid with all of those particle effects in addition to the lighting engine. Really impressive.

yup. In a just world this game would have released with weather, no initial online problems, and got a 93 metacritic :(

no man Motorstorm is cool but Driveclub is the shiz bro. Like, the pure driving mechanics are just a joy to experience. As a long time prolific racing fan, we get so few racing games like this. Admittedly not many like Motorstorm either, but we had a shitload of Motorstorm games so I'm happy with a new one.

I didn't follow the thread (neither the game) so far, but I'm impressed by all these recent updates.
Is the retail DC gonna get a similar treatment, with a complete edition or anything like that?

Weather update is free for everyone who purchases the game, digital or retail.

I'm aware of it. I meant a physical re-release with the full featured game on disc (photomode, weather and I don't know what else came out for free since the release date).

With the exception of upcoming tour events and cars that will remain locked behind paying DLC / season pass, all these updates have been available freely for everybody owning the game, be it retail or digital.
And new tracks, some more cars and any added feature will also be offered for free in the future.

There could be a definitive edition coming next year, but until then you'll have to download patches (we're at 2.4 GB now).

Ah I see. No idea. I'd guess all of that would be in a "complete/GOTY" edition if they ever decide to release such a version.

Yeah, I think DC is far more enjoyable to play than MotorStorm ever was. The series was pretty good, but I wouldn't rank any of them among my top 5 racers, where DC definitely belongs to, with WipEout HD, SSX, TrackMania Nations, and Stunt Car Racer.

So I may bite on the $35 amazon price. How exactly does the PS+ upgrade work with retail (if there is such a thing)?

It doesn't. PS+ users get the game at $50 on the PS store. I'm assuming if the free PS+ version ever comes out the price will be the same, so $35 at amazon is your best bet for the forseeable future.

Ok. Found how to turn off the challenges in the environment (should you choose to.) This does not require any HUD elements to be hidden.

Go to Settings > Display > turn "In Game OSD Notifications" OFF.

Does not work.

The only way to play with nothing on the screen, ever, is in a custom event with challenges turned off.

Just throwing this out there, but the Mountain section of the Isle of Man TT course would be absolutely glorious rendered in this engine. (I'm biased though, because I live there).

It'll never happen, of course as all DC's tracks are fantasy, but as a point to point, that section of course would be perfection.

See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7draX5TqpeQ#t=114

Shit! Having visited the TT many times and also been there at EVO for the launch party why didn't I think of this. It would be amazing with both bikes and cars!

Sign me up evolution studios. Let's do this! :-)

So can you enjoy this game in Single-Player? Or is multiplayer its biggest strength?

I'm not a big car racing fan, but I've enjoyed games like GRiD, Most Wanted 2005, Need for Speed Rivals to name a few. Will I like this? Is there a ton of grinding? How long does it take to reach level 50?

Thanks!

I'm really tempted to buy this, for several reasons, one of them being that I actually live in the Norway part of the game in real life.

Single player is better than multi player.

You will love it

@TruthInsider @BADMANBILL1980 @kafkasdad @Rushy33 @That_Kid_Chris We're dialling the audio back up to 11 in the next update.

Bolded for loveliness..

I hope this is patched in before (or around) Christmas (two weeks from today).

Any word on the PS+ free demo version? If they make the full game 30$ for PS+ members on the store, I would jump in. I need more racing back in my day to day.

The weather in this game, combined with the incredible lighting and volumetric cloud system, is probably the most impressive visual showcase I've ever seen in video games, to be quite honest.
