The Order 1886: 15 mn of B Roll gameplay video (direct feed)

We played the preview and all thought it was REALLY boring. Also, what this footage doesn't show as much: the many, many, many times you have to push triangle to interact with things. At some point we were bursting out in laughter every time the prompt simply came up.
Yes because no other games have a USE key.

Oh no. Pressing a button to interact with things in a video game. My god, what's next? Using analog sticks to move your character? Such madness.

We as in Polygon?

A button to intreact with things? OMG that's hilarious!

Do you also complain about using the sticks to move?

Game looks amazing ! They finally nailed that CGI feeling I think. Killzone 2 E32005 Trailer redeemed ? ;D

Looking back on that trailer, it isn't even that impressive. Killzone 2 eventually released to look that good.

How far we've come.

I laugh frantically everytime i have to push R2 to shoot someone.
And then i do it again.
And again.
And laugh.

I think "use" button and I immediately think of the E button on my keyboard. Sony is clearly not tapping into industry standards for their control schemes.

Calm down guys. He's more entitled to his opinion than most of you are seeing as he played the game and you didn't.

Not liking the gameplay and what not is fine. Completely respectable. Laughing at having to press a single button "many, many" times is what we're laughing at. I don't complain every time I play something like a JRPG the many, many times I have to hit the accept button just to move the dialogue along. Or the amounts of times I've hammered on the attack button in an action game. Jesus, I just hold down the "R" key on the PC version of DA:I to auto attack in a lot of cases.

I think the context of his criticism is more like having to constantly hit the play button during cutscenes/barely interactible moments, not the fact that you have an interact button.

Like, /\ to Heal in that lycan fight.

Or X to Jason.

Yeah looks awesome. I think my favorite part is the shadow quality. Sooooo much higher quality many other games on console.

sadly not always! When Galahad and Lafayette are in front of the door of the section with seats, the self shadowing from his eyebrown it's low res! I want to be perfect damn! For this game i want perfection! I mean here

and eyebrows seems painted on all characters or something like this....

The way media is coming along that gets progressively "closer" to the detail it giving this impression of being transfixed on something beautiful and seeing more and more details as you stare ever more intently.

Is this The Best Looking Game?

Disagreed. Not liking a game is fine, no one here has judged him/her for thinking the demo was boring, but when one of your negatives is having to press a button to interact with things, you can only expect people to not take you seriously.

The black bars are certainly a lot smaller than Evil Within, and the FOV much better, that's great.

I'm all for black bars as part of an artistic vision, but in The Evil Within it's just too much. It looks fine here though.

I was mainly comparing it to the uncharted footage, but yeah of course.

They should have given the game press 'F' for Respect option, it might get a 9

Furthermore, If that's the worst criticism detected, we can expect a really really awesome game surrounded by really really nitpicky individuals who would be fapping should the game be for their console of choice, or if they didn't want to sound deliberately pedantic and pretentious.

For what I can see, all the hate on this game is completely undeserved

i really hope they can fix this, because in close up it's pretty annoying! They can lower the resolution of other shadows but not on characters please! It's not the final build so we can hope!

@ People replying to JodokusK: why making jokes about that? It is seriously boring if every 10 seconds you have to press triangle to 'interact' with something, why not add some contextual animation then? I don't like the sound of this at all, game looks absolutely amazing, but it is seemingly more and more 'cinematic', too much cinematic for my taste.

It ruined TEW for me so i'm pleased that it's much less of a problem here

Games is damn pretty anyway

Pressing triangle to count down the smoke grenade toss is laughable though.

yeah, why not just use a cinematic sequence

This isn't true no matter how much people try to say otherwise. The Order really does look like CGI though.

Looks like a pretty, cinematic cover shooter and I'm perfectly fine with that. I'll enjoy it for that sexy mother fucking shotgun alone....BOOM!

Don't you almost always have to press a button to interact with things?

This is basically how I took it. Some people are being crazily defensive over this game. It's really no secret that the game looked nigh on laughable for many, many months in regard to the barely there gameplay. If whole chunks of gameplay devolve to sitting back and watching things play out "David Cage" style while you arbitrarily mash triangle to foster some semblance of interaction, then yeah, I could see how that can be construed as "laughable." The onus is really on RAD to prove that the gameplay portions of their epic actually hold up, and I agree with Ami that they should be highlighting that at trade shows. It's more than a little concerning that we're still seeing "triangle to win" this late in the game with it seeing a release in a mere 2 months

This game looks amazing visually, but oh boy watching the video made me more convinced that I won't enjoy playing this game, it's a generic third person shooter with nothing unique or interesting.

Yeah. I just watched the video and @ 4:03 there's a sequence where you have to press triangle for Galahad (or whoever he is) say 'three', 'two', and then R2 to throw a grenade. Seriously? I already think it's bad enough in COD when you open the door and have to shoot terrorists in slow motion, now we're counting to three pressing buttons to open a door. :|

By Aristotle's Mother, this game looks gorgeous.

Really excited to see how much progress this made and though it isn't revolutionary in terms of gameplay, it just looks sooo good and polished.

That lock pick scene though; man, I thought that was awesome...

WTF!

I always pressing liek a maniac to interact with things lol, never thought it was a bad feature.

I think his criticism was more along the lines of "it's boring to mindlessly shoot things in a corridor then push a button to trigger the next automated sequence of something actually interesting happening", rather than just complaining about pushing a button. I haven't played it myself, but all the footage I've seen definitely says the same thing. I feel like that's pretty obvious when reading his post, but if your agenda is to defend the honor of a game you haven't played, then I guess the goal is to try and find a an easy way to invalidate what he's saying.

All that got old last generation. But hey, the graphics are prettier this time so that's cool.

We'll find out how good a judge you are soon enough :)

Do you honestly believe that could be anything but a QTE sequence or a non-interactive cutscene?

I don't know, to be honest. They've been pretty cagey about it. I doubt they would be if there isn't more to it than timed button prompts. But you seem to be confident, so let's find out if you are right or if prejudice got the better of you.
