So why doesn't Korra a) take away Kuvira's bending b) bloodbend and kill Kuvira?
A. might not be out of the question, B. is war crime levels of bad.

there's a really weird mantra going on in this thread blaming Bryke

It isn't ATLA but Korra is a good show.
Christ, I don't see this much hate for Korra anywhere. Sure the show could be better, but I feel like the creators did a decent job with the budget and production hell they went through.
I'm enjoying Season 4. Not as much as 3, but the mech doesn't feel out of place considering the creativity that can go into metal bending.
Lots of good female characters. Lin Beifong. Dealt with PTSD. Bolin stepping it up at the end of season 2 and 3 (the latter which was briefly incredibly dark). The subject material has real world parallels that provoke discussion.I wouldn't say it's even that. If it were a standalone, without TLA's continuity, I probably wouldn't have bothered watching (well, that's a lie. I seem to watch everything to completion, no matter how bad. But I would have wanted to quit is what I mean).
Really, we constantly bitch about the shows failings, so maybe to some extent we've dug trenches of negativity surrounding this show, but stepping back, what good can we say about this?

Everything has real world parallels that can provoke discussion. It's just the act of connecting one idea to another. It's not something unique or difficult.
I like that the show has a lot more female characters in commanding roles than most other shows, but due to the nature of their characters, I don't know if that necessarily makes them inspiring, and I asked that to the board specifically at one point, which a few people answered disagreeing with that due to characters not being well developed enough.
If there was a badass hispanic lead that wasn't a stereotype in a position of power in a role similar to Kuvira, I wouldn't want to use that character as an example of 'look these guys did it right'. Because the character would basically just be a blank canvas that could have been anybody or any gender/race.
This is the issue with writing and the premise of the "strong female characters" comic. You can't give a woman a gun and make her not give any fucks and expect this to be strong writing and say that sexism is over.
Now I'm not saying that Korra necessarily follows what I'm talking about above. Just mentioning it in general.
My mistake.
But on that note, here's the finale clip for people who want to watch it since I don't think it's been posted yet.

yep. you can apply this with every minority usually. AtlA I felt did a better job with strong female protagonists/main characters.Yeah, I understand. Satch in particular made a great post to the question. Let me see if I can find it. ...

Haha perfect
Spongebob is da real over arching villain of the series.
Spongebob has slowly throughout the years been sending out spies and assassins to create turmoil with the avatar world. Create that much needed chaos that will make for an easy pushover once his invasion force attacks.
Done with the same amount of ice cold efficiency.
This finale is gonna be weird. How often do kid series end with the villain winning?
The only kids show I know that ends with the bad guy winning is ReBoot
The hunt begins.
I still think the finale HAS to bring in some mythology. Whether that is Korra getting back her past life connections. Or something having to do with the spirits uniting against Kuvira, to signify the new era of Spirits/people living together as one (and thus having to look out for one another).

Stayed up all night playing LittleBigPlanet 3 with Hamlet. It kind of made me realize that, talking about Korra in person is way better than via text. Just because, criticisms seem a lot more positive rather than super negative or mean spirited. I guess, text always comes off a bit more negative (more cold, although sometimes it can also be more expressive). But just talking it out, was a lot more interesting at least to me.
Anyways, guess I'm playing Halo MCC with Toa TAK today. Won't be any critical analysis. Just hours of gushing over Kuvira.
EDIT: well assuming Xbox One's party chat works, and MCC actually works. SMH.
