I drive around the state of Michigan for my job, so I stop at various stores to check out what amiibo they have. Today, I stopped at three Targets, a Best Buy, and two Toys R Us. None of them received Pit, Falcon, or Luigi, confirming rumors that they were delayed until later this week (as the BB employee told me, "probably around Wednesday").
Good news is, most of the stores had tons of Zelda and Diddy, and two of the Targets had at least four rows of Little Mac. If I were a little more greedy I'd have cleaned them out, but I left them for others to grab. Something tells me he won't be as rare as many are assuming.
Best Buy, meanwhile, had just a handful of them, and no Mac. The employee claimed other stores didn't receive many, either, so good luck to those checking there

Well...The hunt is certainly on and those who may be making the runs for the purpose of Ebay and such, are on top of things. I've been lucky to find two each (one to open and one to collect) of the figures I'm interested in. I do have this weird feeling my Little mac pre-order from GS may fall through.
FYI, this "DK, SAMUS, FOX ARE BECOMING RARE!" rumor almost caused me to buy all 3 so yeah, I think it's working.
Honestly, I'll get Shulk from gamestopp and Meta Knight from BB. If I can't find Rosalina or Lucario, the hell with it, I'll get the Japanese versions off of Play-Asia. In the end, I will honestly spend less money paying the $7 import mark up and 6.50 standard shipping than I would driving around all of hell and creation looking for them on release day.
If you find ones you want like Little Mac/Diddy/Marth/Villager/Wii Fit Trainer and it's a reasonable price (anything less than double mark up), I say just buy it. It's coming to the point where time + effort looking for them is no longer worth it when I'm wasting my mornings looking for them.

Hilarious and sad honestly. If you have to go around and scalp amiibos to give your kids a good Christmas, it's you that are ruining Christmas for your kids, and only you.

I wonder if they'll have Amiibos as rewards via club nintendo or even a special one for platinum members.
Went to Wal Mart this morning and they had nothing for Wave 2. Went to one Target and they had Zeldas out on the pegs but no Diddy Kong. They showed stock, though, so got the guy to get one from the back. No Little Macs. Went to another Target that showed limited availability for Little Mac. There was one on the back of the peg that I just happened to notice, so got the only one of those. They had two Diddys.
Cancelled my Diddy Kong and Zelda with Amazon, but not sure I can cancel Little Mac from Gamestop without messing up the order. I had done Pick Up at Store, so I can just not buy it whenever they send my Captain Falcon and Pit.

This situation is really irritating. I wish there was just one day to keep track but they've been selling randomly all week. My Little Mac order is in Limbo and I feel like its going to get canceled because their inventory is jacked up. The website says its available for in store pick up. All the other Amiibo I ordered on the same day will be ready to pick up.
Thankfully I have an extra Marth, so if absolutely necessary I may trade it for a Little Mac, but this situation is really obnoxious.

I've only been following this thread sporadically so anything I have to say has probably been said and corroborated by a lot of others already, just wanted to share my experience this morning.
I have all of the first wave of Amiibo, I got almost all of them at my local Toys R Us which has a huge display. Got some of the rarest ones on day 1, and then went back for more a few days later. I had all but Kirby and Yoshi until this morning.
I knew that wave 2 was out or coming out, so I decided to go shopping this morning.
Toys R Us - despite the huge display, mostly had Mario, Link, Pikachu etc. They also had a good amount of Zelda, so I bought her along with Yoshi. None of the rare ones, and no other wave 2 Amiibo.
Target - incredibly tiny, awful display. They had like 5 total Amiibo, and they were Mario and Kirby and Pikachu. I bought the Captain Toad game when I was there, they had one left.
Wal Mart - reasonably well stocked, but with just Mario, Pikachu, Link etc.
Gamestop - small crappy display, again with just the standard ones. I caved and bought Kirby here just to finish out wave 1.
Best Buy - same as Target, really small display that was picked clean. 5 Marios and Pikachus.
So yeah, the situation is every bit as dire as everyone says. Can't find anything.

I've been to a bunch of stores now, I've only ever seen Zelda (at one store only) and not many of them.
I'd like to buy Little Mac and Pit (When it comes out), but I'm not willing to put any more effort in than simply walking into a store. Nintendo's loss.
I'll make that trade in a heartbeat just let me know. Though I think you'll be able to find him eventually. TRU around my area has tons (unless they sold out all of them since yesterday)

Right. By all evidence 1230 for them. That's what Best Buy preorders got moved to and there was that Gamestop screen shot saying they were delayed in shipping.

Just hit up 3 Walmarts, 2 Targets, 1 K-Mart and went to Best Buy but they weren't following their "Holiday Hours", so they weren't open yet. Not a single wave 2 amiibo in sight, although one of the Targets at least had place holders for them, so I'll probably go back in a few hours to see if anything has changed.
My observations:
Most abundant - Mario, Peach, Donkey Kong, Link
Somewhat abundant - Kirby, Pikachu
Not so abundant - Yoshi, Samus
Nowhere to be seen - Fox, WFT, Villager, Marth

Went out to get a couple more last night after having a blast fighting three in Smash on my own. Got my Kirby to level 50 last night too. I went out in search of Donkey Kong and Yoshi, found them easily but the Toys R Us I went to had a ton of Zelda sitting out. Not interested but she looks good regardless, then I went to a Target and they had one lone Diddy Kong sitting there. He looked good but again I am trying not to buy them all lol so I put him down.
Shame about Luigi getting a delay. I was hoping to get him soon.

I think somebody had said you can still preorder it in store. Might want to try that first.

Captain Falcon is going to be extremely hard to get. The shipments will probably be low and he'll be in pretty good demand because he's a popular SSB character.

He's available on Amazon.ca, that's where I ended up setting my pre order up.
If there's one thing I learned through all this it's as soon as wave 4 is announced I am pulling all nighters to get my pre orders in, jeez.

So I found a Diddy at best buy but they wouldn't sell it to me. Said the release date was Friday. Wtf..
If Best Buy doesn't get my preorder in for Falcon, I'll be pissed. I'm thinking if I find one on store shelves, I'm just gonna buy it and not take any chances. Especially with all the negative talk about Best Buy- but I've never had an issue personally.

Finally placed the last order for the 3 Amiibo I need for waves 1 and 2. Peach, Donkey Kong and Luigi... and I added Megaman just to have another wave 3 one done as well. All I need to order now are Sonic, Sheik, Toon Link, Rosalina and Bowser.
Oh man so it looks like I pulled the trigger on Shulk just in time... Provided I don't get an email cancelling my order a week before they ship.
Man, you just know some lucky bastard's going to end up finding a duel-wielding Shulk. Could probably pay for a college education with that...
