I do want to note that my store got only Zelda and Little Mac today.
However Diddy had a sticker while Little Mac didn't.

You know what pisses me off about Diddy Kong being rare in America? It's the fact the out of the 50 or so characters in Super Smash Bros, it's the only non-japanese character. I'm pretty sure he is way more popular than many other characters, so what's the point of making him rare?

Yea my target also had a sticker for diddy kong. In fact they had two pegs with the special "as seen in this weeks ad" along with the luigi one as well. The employee there knew what he was talking about though and remembered stocking diddy kong so it just seems like I missed out on him.
What does that have to do with being rare or not?

Ya pit and the cap are the ones I want from wave 2. I already pre ordered the ones I want from wave 3(DDD and shulk), I also want rosalina but there's no way to even pre order it in the US
They should have sent way more stocks of it since he's very popular here. It just doesn't make any sense to have 10 times more figures of Zelda than Diddy Kong. In fact, it's just stupid and a lack of respect for the fans. But that's just my opinion....

i can see why nintendo went conservative with these given the wiius install base and having to fight for shelf space with two other multiplatform figure based games.

Walmart has been awful with their displays so far. In fact, I wasn't even able to find it at the Walmart near where I live. I had to ask the guy working here and he told me the "display" was at the TVs section. -_-

I think Nintendo will make alot of Peach/Zelda/Rosalina to make girls interested in Amiibo and to have a better gender distribution. I might be wrong though since Wii Fit Trainer appears to be discontinued.
I'm getting really worried about my Little Mac order from Amazon. I've seen some people's ship and mine still says not yet shipped with no shipping estimate. I'm going to be really upset if something happens- it's one of the ones my boyfriend really wanted which is why I made sure to preorder it.

Has Amazon usually been like this with orders? That worries me now, I got Megaman and Toon Link preordered there, and I definitely don't want to miss out on Mega Man
I preordered him as soon as I heard some figures were getting discontinued. Didn't getting yet since it's already out of stock on Amazon.. will probably buy one on a japanese website soon if I can't git it from them.
And I don't get why you guys keep saying Zelda is way more popular than Diddy Kong. There are a lot of Diddy Kong users in Super Smash Bros. Also, Zelda never had her own game while Diddy Kong has Diddy Kong Racing and Donkey Kong Country 2 (as the one of the main character). Both games were (and still are) very popular in America...

You're just torturing yourselves. There is no guarantee Target will even start preorders this year. That's a lot of refreshing. I'm confident that if I check this thread regularly I'll manage to get a preorder in because somebody will notice when it goes live.

Nintendo is a video game company, not a toy company. They don't have the production infrastructure in place to support the crazy demand for these things. Unfortunately that means some will be axed earlier than others. We've already seen it happen and will continue to see it happen. If there are any Amiibos people are interested, or even remotely interested in, they should just preorder to avoid the mess. At this point, that's the only way your going to find the ones predicted to be "rare". As the Amiibo brand goes forward I'm sure Nintendo will make the necessary steps to ensure they can keep up with demand for future games.
This is a new venture for Nintendo and I'm sure Nintendo is learning from it.

You also have to keep in mind that these are Wii U toys specifically at the moment and they're probably underestimated the desire for these considering how the wii u has been selling.
is this rarity thing just in NA?? i live in Germany and there was basically never a time where i wasn't able to buy any of the character figure on either Amazon oder Media Markt (big electronics store)
Being a collector i bought the ones fondest to my childhood (Mario, Link, Yoshi, Donkey Kong)..If Nintendo gave me a really good reason i'd probably buy all of them. But as of now i don't see it. IMO they HAVE to make a new original game that compliments these figures like with Skylanders or Disney Infinity.
But as of now i'm buying these figures completely expecting that there will be next to nothing worthwhile to use them with.

Depends on where you live. For example Kirby was at times extremely rare, amazon.de price for Kirby was at 30... but it seems he is mow available and price got back to normal.

Went to Best Buy today and was told they'd be releasing some Wave 2 figures on the 19th, I asked how many little macs they'd have and he said he can count them on his hands. Looks like I'll be there at 10am :/
