You know, it kind of occurs to me that this show really covered the gamut of 'product of the industrial revolution political ideologies' pretty well. Populist Amon, anarchist Zaheer, republican Reiko, exhiled heir to demolished monarchy Wu, Fascist and cult of personality Kuvira. Really all that's missing is something outright communistic/soviet.
Of course, that's just one of the myriad ways this show is an unfocused mess, but it's also kind of interesting.
Yeah. Although I would say, more so in like general ideas and time pieces, and not so much in plot (like getting to depths of why and how these things played out). But you are right, like just progressing through that entire era, they really did hit on all the points in a larger sense.
ATLA was more focused on the fantasy plot, and all the side plot (given its structure). But it also had some pretty interesting things that reflected world events, or just really relevant modern political themes. But Korra was a lot more honed in on that.
