New Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Second Trailer [Dec2] + Release Schedule

I hated that twist in Revelations as well, the plot to Revelations 1 was dumb, but that was the dumbest part by far. For me, Revelations plot was cheesingly fun dumb though.

Yeah, I just thought that it was so strange and very sci-fi with the whole idea of Terragrigia. It felt like it was erring more towards the film storylines than anything else and I was pretty hateful of that. Of course, they borrowed more plot elements from the films for the story of 6 too (with Carla) so maybe it's an inevitability now :(

Dead Aim didn't have that kind of plot twist, the plot in Dead Aim is very straight-forward. You are an American agent investigating a Umbrella Cruiser for suspected activity, but the ship is then attacked by a guy with a grudge and past with Umbrella who wants his revenge. Also, a Chinese spy is on-board after something. The plot goes from there, not really any twists, just developments.

>Actually ended up really liking Dead Aim, in my opinion one of the most underrated RE games.

Ahh yes, now I remember. I also didn't mind that game! I remember being wowed because it was 60fps, and the combat was super satisfying. Landing a critical head shot and seeing the zombies fall back so hard and fast was so fun.

Didn't fancy Morpheus too much as a villain though, and I always found his Tyrant to be quite....strange.

I didn't realise Cavia worked on Dead Aim either. Makes me wonder how UC or DC might've turned out if they went a more Dead Aim route.

They've been borrowing elements from the films ever since RE4. We even got a red queen in Umbrella Chronicles.

Seems like they're going back to something more similar to RE4.

Yeah, hopefully no more bulletsponge enemies or grinding here.
Holy shit, that gameplay looks amazing

Yep, it's not just "killing" they're afraid of doing to "big" characters too, it's really anything that could mess with their established persona. Take Ada for example, in the behind-the-scenes of RE6, they wanted to
originally have 4 different Ada's (5 including Carla). Their original idea was that the Ada in RE2 is different from the Ada in RE6, and that Ada is different from the Ada in Damnation, and the Ada in Damnation is different from the Ada in RE4. So on and so forth, then, they wanted them all to have a "survival of the fittest" fight or whatever in RE6.

Thankfully, they did not go with that idea as it is atrocious. But they are really scared of messing with any of the main RE characters.

Holy shit, that would had been stupid, but made more sense at the same time :O

What we got in RE 6 was really bad anyways, its clear the game is about Ada, but we dont know anything new about Ada Wong that it was not shown before.

The relationship between Derrick and Carla was interesting, but they barely show it, and in the end she becomes the typical stupid RE villain.

Does anyone know if this game will have the ability to slide, roll, etc., from RE6?

The mechanics in that game were so good..

You can sprint and there's a manual dodge, but it seems there's no slide or counters here.

The fact that the quick dodge can now be done at any time is something I've been waiting for since RE3. Hopefully RER2 makes good use of it.

This is so confusing.

Call me casual if you want.

I just want the most complete version on Steam, I don't care if I have to pay $60 (it should have been a real $60 game anyway).

It should've been a $40 3DS game by the look of it. Oh well.

Will buy retail version. RE hasn't been a series I need on day one since RE5 shit all over everything.

Yeah, it was obvious they wanted Ada Wong to be the new villain of RE (after Wesker was dead) and have everything about her unveil gradually. But they probably felt it would betray her ''mysterious' character (and mess with her established character, which Capcom has a phobia of when it comes to main characters). So they scrapped that, but they STILL felt like "Ada" should be a villain, so they created a clone while still having the real Ada in the game as a protagonist.

That way, Capcom is basically making Ada the villain of RE6 when in reality she's also the heroine of the game by saving almost everyone as you play in her campaign.

I agree though that it's funny that we got a whole main game dedicated to "Ada Wong" and we still don't know anything new about her, lol. I guess that further proves that Capcom REALLY does not want to mess with the main characters at all.

It's pretty obvious RE6's gameplay is staying. At least whatever we have so far of Rev2 seems to be inspired heavily from RE6 (Dodging whenever you want, how Claire moves/changes the camera, etc)

Also, in the options menu, there are only two "control types" one is the original new type for Revelations 2, and the other is, and I quote form the menu screen, "based on Resident Evil 6."

So yeah.

Liking the look of the gameplay. Sure, it's not the super ice skating ninja craziness of RE6 that does feel good and has a lot of depth for what it is (something that just didn't work for me in a Resident Evil game unfortunately), but it looks like it has a good balance suitable for the franchise.

Atmosphere and, interestingly enough, lore was what always drew me into the series. Despite my misgivings of parts of 5, the logs made up for a lot of it when games like ME2 and Dead Space 2 dropped the ball in those areas.

So long as it doesn't go off the deep end like Revelations and RE6, I'm willing to make the jump back into the franchise.

man i hope it goes off the deep end even moreso than those games, we're talkin' re5 levels "oops we crashed into an active volcano and now are fighting neo covered in world destroying giant worm viruses on top of cooled lava" crazy

hell even "oh hey it's an underground society of laser-toting immortal african tribals in the year 2008 and their pyramid maze traps sure whatever i see this every tuesday" levels of shark jumping works

or "not even gonna bat an eye at this infinite corridor of people in pods and massive secret underground lab attached to an ancient african laser pyramid kingdom hey is that jill" levels of crazy

what i'm saying i love chris redfield and his 100% plank-faced non-reactions to his completely batshit insane life

They used to be in the shallow end of the pool? The RE story has always been cheesy B movie stuff, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love everything about this post.

I enjoy my RE wacky. Wouldn't have it any other way.

What is the reason for doing episodic when the day gap between each episode is so small?

Looks good. Also Barry seems to be alone, no partner following him.

Actually there's some weird looking toddler behind him on every screen. She's probably the partner as part of the forced co-op shit. Ugh, this looks so fucking bad.

Thank Christ. Now here's hoping that standing over the downed zombie slicing with the little pocketknife is just an RE4 habit and not a sign that they took stomps away.
I think they actually really took them away.

Yeah, I noticed that afterwards.

LOL, I sometimes wish GAF had a "like" button for posts

You know, I've just realized that they didn't really mind Tricell capturing hundreds of people from (probably) all around the world and using them as test subjects. Aside from a "What the hell" comment they immediately went to "Jill might be here!". And then forgot about all those people. :D

At this point mass kidnappings are probably a common occurrence in the RE world.

I for one like this.
Have always been a fan of the buddy system in RE games since Outbreak and Zero.

I think it's cool too, but they really need to speed up that transition if every enemy encounter is going to be shoot to stun -> melee -> switch -> ground stab -> switch. That pause is going to get kind of annoying after a while. Maybe it'll be more like RE4 where there is some combination that does enough damage to kill most enemies and a stomp isn't needed, like knee shot + back melee. Claire did hella damage in Mercs 3D.

Here's Claire beating dudes up.

Revelations 2 for Vita announced on Playstation Experience

I might triple dip.

Buying the episodes digitally.
Psychical copy for the extra DLC.
Vita.

Famitsu scans are out, and they show Raid mode.

Judging by the screens it seems like there will be more than 12 characters available. There are also slots for weapons, active skills and passive skills. Some slots have numbers in them. I guess they'll be unlocked when you reach that level.
