New GTA5 patch improves controls and fixes tree animation

Still doesn't fix the horrid input lag though :/

It's better in first person, but still unplayable to me. I still can't drive cars without running into everything.

Really? I found the driving to be even easier in first-person. Zipping in and out of traffic on my Akuma feels great and is much easier than it was on PS3 in third-person.

There's still input delay when using the buttons/triggers, though. Definitely.

So you're saying there's this nefarious cabal called "PC Gamers" who will constantly bleat about the superiority of their platform, talk about waiting for price drops, and threaten to torrent the game? Man, call the internet police, this sounds like some shady shit. Maybe you should also complain about last-gen console owners, considering 360 games would usually be leaked and torrented a week before release.

No, what I'm saying is that some PC people bitched and moaned about how Rockstar put it out late and how dare they put it out after console and threatened to either not buy it and torrent it (very few to none threatened to just not buy it) or threatened to buy it really cheap off of steam. And I saw that on this forum as well (it's the one I inhabit the most these days in gaming cause in general I find the most mature gamers tend to be here). If that is what you got out of what I said, you totally missed the point entirely.

Yes, an exaggeration. So when you're trying to show the 'attitude change', it doesn't do you credit to exaggerate things. Not to mention that its a few sparse posts compared to this one post and suddenly the *entire* PC gaming community has had an attitude change?

What he said wasn't much of an exagerration at all honestly (except for i'll give you attributing it to all PC gaming community cause you're right, it was only the loud ones and I'm sure the ones fine with it just weren't saying anything). But for what we heard a lot of? Yes, there was a lot of bitching and moaning and how they were going to get the game cheap off of steam (or torrent it). ANd bitching how bad Rockstar was or even that they weren't going to support Rockstar anymore.

'You console people' is not the same as saying 'peasants' or #masterrace or whatever. Not even close, c'mon.

Saying you anypeople is implying that you find the people inferior and you are talking down to them. Go tell a black person you black people and see how well that goes off for you? Or a Native American person you native american people... It's very much a talking down tone especially when you add something negative to it.

And saying they'll get it cheaper later on is not "I'll buy it for 50 cents." Only ever saw one person say anything about pirating it, as well.

You realize PC gamers aren't a hivemind, right?

No, I did see several people say they'll wait til they can get it dirt cheap on steam so they don't have to pay much because Rockstar decided to wait on the PC version (and they specifically said that they were waiting to spite Rockstar and that they would have bought it day one otherwise). Maybe they didn't specify 50 cents as the price but that's as much exageration to that statement as there was.

And yes, I do realize PC gamers aren't a hivemind. But there is a large group (I didn't say majority) who do act like that. Hell, I'll even tell you that as much as the PC elitists are the "fanboys" (for lack of a better term) that annoy me the most, there are several PC gamers who seem to be the most reasonable of gamers as well. So, no, I don't think all PC players are like that. But there are certainly many that are. And they are loud.

(and I wouldn't even say those attitudes came from the same attitude that I mean when I say elitist. But I still disagree with them that rockstar putting it out for PC later is a huge insult to them and worthy of making sure they don't give much money to Rockstar. My entire point really in even responding the first time was just to say that, yes, we did see attitudes like that and they were existing unlike your original comment that no one said that because many people said that. Not go on some crusade against PC elitists).

Really? I found the driving to be even easier in first-person. Zipping in and out of traffic on my Akuma feels great and is much easier than it was on PS3 in third-person.

Agreed. I think the driving on the PS4 version is a whole lot better. I can speed and get in and out of traffic very easily. On the ps3 i would end up crashing by the lag at times haha.

They removed the auto leveling viewpoint in FPS mode? Thank GOD!

Why was this ever in the game at all? It is such an incredibly amateur hour mistake. This is the kind of thing developers would put into the very first FPS games in the 90s when they had absolutely no idea what they were doing with the new genre.

Say what you want about Rockstar, but they support their titles more than most. There were 16 patches for the 360/PS3 version, of those 7 or 8 of them came with new content. Glad to see this trend continuing with PS4/XBO.

Only while on-foot, unfortunately. Here's hoping they give us the option to turn it off completely.

I really doubt its a deadzone and acceleration problem that this game is having. It clearly is input lag and therefore this will fix nothing.

Clearly input lag? I called it saying it was probably the illusion of input lag thanks to acceleration and a physics based animation system and behold. It's true. Turning the deadzone down to zero and setting the acceleration to it's maximum value it's much more responsive. There's no more latency in GTAV than there is in most other 30fps based games. The button presses don't have any input lag neither. There's a timer on L1 for example, but I'm sure that's just to keep people from making mistakes and not bring up the weapon wheel accidentally.

What does this do?

It would constantly level your eyepoint to be looking straight ahead if you didn't constantly hold the view stick in a direction. It made looking up or down while walking around a complete pain in the ass.

Wait, what? So the game still tries to autocenter you when you're driving?

UGH WTF why would anyone want that? It's completely over-nannying the camera, assuming that people have never in their life played an FPS before.

This isn't true. There's still more delay in the buttons/triggers than there was on PS3. I tested the shooting earlier today with the latest patch installed and the trigger didn't register a shot until it was back in its original position.

Wait, what? So the game still tries to autocenter you when you're driving?

Yup. :(

It's especially annoying when flying a chopper.

Well this is a really nice surprise! I tried it out for a little bit, it definitely feels better. Trees look great (I had no problem with them before but it's just another amazing detail in the game now). Being able to look up or down while walking also makes a huge difference. Thanks for the patch!

Nah, what we have here is just impact showing his chip on his shoulder for PC gamers as we've seen many times.

Yeah, he certainly seems to have struck a nerve for some it appears.

Your "point" is that you were trying to bunch PC Gamers together because a few said some mean things that hurt your feelings. So what if a few guys said something back then and are saying something else now? How does that affect you?

What? No, I wasn't. I was simply stating to the guy that yes, people said that. He said no one said that. Plenty of people did.

how is that grouping everyone together?

Once again, missed point.

In fact, this is what I said:

Uh, yeah, actually they are/were. I quoted one for your education straight from this thread. And the second one, I saw constantly being said on this forum and other places. Over and over how they were just going to wait for it cheap on steam because f*** rockstar. And that is if they weren't threatening to just download a torrent of it to make sure Rockstar didn't get any money (funny no one was willing to outright boycott it though. Just steal it if they didn't want to give rockstar money at all or at best wait til it was dirt cheap on steam so at least it was legal/moral).

You are completely misreading me if you are reading htat I'm saying every PC player in that. All I am saying there is that yes, there was plenty of that attitude. And when I say they, I mean the people who were saying those things! You're totally reading way more into what I said than what I did say.

What he said wasn't much of an exagerration at all honestly (except for i'll give you attributing it to all PC gaming community cause you're right, it was only the loud ones and I'm sure the ones fine with it just weren't saying anything). There was not *a lot* of people saying they were going to torrent it. You still insist on exaggerating. Nor did anybody say they wouldn't pay more than 50 cents for it. I see people say they're going to wait til a game is cheaper all the time for both PC and consoles.

The main point is that this ONE comment does not represent this 'attitude change' that impact was trying to say had happened.

Saying you anypeople is implying that you find the people inferior and you are talking down to them. Go tell a black person you black people and see how well that goes off for you? Or a Native American person you native american people... It's very much a talking down tone especially when you add something negative to it.
Nothing negative was said about console gamers. And what goes for black people or native americans does not go for everybody else and I could name many examples of where its good to be extra sensitive in these cases. I don't exactly see that console gamers are some persecuted people that need to be dealt with with the same sort of care. lol

And yes, I do realize PC gamers aren't a hivemind. But there is a large group (I didn't say majority) who do act like that. Hell, I'll even tell you that as much as the PC elitists are the fanboys that annoy me the most, there are several PC gamers who seem to be the most reasonable of gamers as well. Keeping the theme going, this sounds a lot like, "I know some cool black people, but a lot of them are such and such(insert negative generalizations here)".

Bottom line, this one comment does not identify a whole attitude change. Please stop trying to defend such a ridiculous comment.

For instance, me, I'm still annoyed at the delay, but am also happy(as I said in my first post 'half happy') that this stuff is getting sorted on other platforms first.

Still doesn't fix the horrid input lag though :/

It's better in first person, but still unplayable to me. I still can't drive cars without running into everything.

People who can't drive in the game blow my mind. My cousin is this way. He's played the game for hours now and is absolutely horrid at driving in it. I feel bad laughing as I watch him drive. He openly admits that he just can't do it in the game though.

I'm a sim fan, so it took a good 3-4 minutes for me to adjust, but I look like a freaking F1 race car driver in comparison. I find driving in V, once I adjusted, to be too easy even. The cars are incredibly light and twitchy.

If GTA V were real life, I'd probably give people a heart attack if they were riding with me. I'd get you there safely though ;)

Loving the patch, good work R*

True, but sorry, what I saw you saying is that no one said that. And particularly the latter, I will highly disagree with you that there wasn't a lot of people who outright said they were going to make sure not to pay much specifically cause Rockstar did this (they wanted Rockstar to know that this hurt R* to do this. They would even outright say they would have bought it day one otherwise).

Nothing negative was said about console gamers. And what goes for black people or native americans does not go for everybody else and I could name many examples of where its good to be extra sensitive in these cases. No, they're not. But my point is, saying you people is pretty much talking down to some one, particularly when you are adding a negative comment to it. They don't have to be a persecuted group for that to be so.

Bottom line, this one comment does not identify a whole attitude change. Please stop trying to defend such a ridiculous comment.

I was more refuting your statement that stuff wasn't said, especially the latter part about waiting to buy to hurt rockstar's pocketbook.

These masks and outfits are amazing. So glad they're all free and I hope they aren't removed after the holidays. Tattoos are 'meh' personally Not really festive.

Is snow coming back this year? Missed it last time and want to catch it if it happens.

Can we please stop the stupid PC debate? Nobody cares who said what when. And Xyber's initial comment wasn't even mean spirited.

Yay for trees! I know it seemed like a minor thing, but it really bugged me.

People who said it was no big deal are crazy. Shit looks so good and really adds to the atmosphere.

There's still input delay when using the buttons/triggers, though. Definitely.

Keep in mind that the triggers have a gigantic deadzone for shooting though. You have to push R2 like half in for a shot to release. Hopefully something they will also fix (should be a very easy one...).

I was more refuting your statement that stuff wasn't said, especially the latter part about waiting to buy to hurt rockstar's pocketbook.
That stuff wasn't said?

No, I said things weren't a realistic portrayal of what was said. Or in other words, he was exaggerating. Which you agree with.

No separate sensitivity sliders for FPV driving? Bummer. It is really annoying having my driving sensitivity of FPV look around tied to my FPV driving.

Just in time, I was preparing my class action lawsuit over the trees not moving.

"Your honor, the trees didn't move, and as a result, I wasn't moved by the trees."

Their delay is a bit hard to believe. It really just boils down to taking 15 months to get a port out the door, and that's terrible. I would also assume the next gen versions were planned for awhile considering the length of time between the original game's release and this port. It dwarfs almost any Rockstar game out there.

Rockstar have gotten console cash two holidays in a row, that was the point. January 27th is also a much less competitive date for the comparably slim sales the PC version will garner.

There's just too much bullshit around their reasons that doesn't make sense.

Great update, it sounds like. I heard about them putting the vegetation swaying back in, but fixing the controls is pretty huge, too.

I'm half glad the PC version is coming after with this, so we can get some of the core issues resolved already for best first-time experience.

Yeah man, been waiting a long time for this. I'm gonna be very ready when it comes out, resisted the urge to just give and buy SO many times by now.

Man, it's so easy to pull off head-shots in first-person free-aim now for me. No longer do I need to move my entire character left and right to fine aim.

Say what you want about Rockstar, but they support their titles more than most. There were 16 patches for the 360/PS3 version, of those 7 or 8 of them came with new content. Glad to see this trend continuing with PS4/XBO.

Not to mention that all the DLC has been free so far.

Uh, yeah, actually they are/were. I quoted one for your education straight from this thread. And the second one, I saw constantly being said on this forum and other places. The quote from my earlier post was not a serious one, just so you know. I'm still not happy about having to wait for months after the PS4/Xbone version, but at least I will be getting a better product in the end whenever they do release it.

And people who will pirate or wait for it to be 5 bucks just because it didn't release at the same time are not rational people and should be ignored anyway.

This was a huge issue for me and I've not played it much as a result. I really was looking forward to wandering around exploring, but that was ruined by the massive dead zone leading into super twitchy controls once it does pick up your input. Combined with the frustrating auto centering when you moved and the big part of this version of the game I was looking forward to was hugely sullied. Can't underestimate how much of a dampener this put on my experience. Gonna jump back into this tonight, I am so SO happy they've listened!

Good stuff Rockstar, thank you!

If I understand correctly, this patch addresses the dead zone issue, but doesn't actually address the input lag. Is the overall game still laggier than the PS3 version, or did they actually fix the input lag?

SMH...Dude, you really made us PC gamers look bad. Let's just all be glad that they listened and move on.

Probably should've made it more clear that it wasn't a #PCmasterrace post. The second half of that post should've given that away. I'm just glad it is fixed, since I didn't expect them to do anything about the controls.

Man, it's so easy to pull off head-shots in first-person free-aim now for me. No longer do I need to move my entire character left and right to fine aim.

There is still a bit of input delay to deal with, but overall FPV is pretty solid now.

Even TPV feels pretty good as far as free-aim gun fights (I'm popping headshots like nothing now) but the auto-center camera is still annoying to fight with. You want to move and look in another direction and the camera is always fighting against you.

Game is much better now though, definitely. If they let us turn off the auto-centering in the other views this will be a very solid-playing game. Comparing well enough to the expectations set by other popular games in the FPS/TPS genres.

Holy shit. I never thought Rockstar would bother with this. Pulling headshots off in manual aim feels so awesome now, especially with Michael's special ability.

These masks and outfits are amazing. So glad they're all free and I hope they aren't removed after the holidays. Tattoos are 'meh' personally Not really festive.

Is snow coming back this year? Missed it last time and want to catch it if it happens.

Snow is coming back, yes.

This update sounds awesome! Can't wait to play it this afternoon and see trees moving again!
