New GTA5 patch improves controls and fixes tree animation

Don't flatter yourself I'm sure they've been working on this for some time now. ;-)

I doubt it. They were very hesitant in believing what some in here were telling them on their support site. It took gifs and videos to convince them it wasn't the controllers that were faulty.

Ok so someone explain

What is a deadzone

Thanks in advance

When you push a joystick in any direction, there's at least 256 different levels at wich the controller register a position. And a deadzone is a certain zone in the middle of the joystick where no input is considered by the game. For instance, lets say the programmer will decide that the first 32 levels don't do anything in the game.

This way you can prevent having useless movement when the player let go of the joystick or with wear and tear when it becomes less precise in the middle. Bonus info: devs are having programming guidelines to respect in matter of deadzones for their game to be approved before being marketed.

During the boot up sequence with the rockstars logo and police stars, does it pause for a second for anyone else? Never had this prior to the patch.

That's awesome! One thing they need to fix that hardly anybody ever mentions but I notice the crap out of is how stuff is fisheye looking in first person. Go in first person and walk up to any vertical line that should be vertical like a doorway and it's bowed/fisheyed badly. And no this is NOT with glasses on and I changed field of view around and it doesn't make a difference.

Holy fuck, they listened.

C'mon, this is R* we're talking about. They actually care about their fanbase.

Why is everyone getting so butthurt about this? Is it that offensive?

As a PC gamer myself it's really fucking annoying when PC elitist dicktards make the PC gaming community look bad by spouting ignorant bullshit about how apparently superior they are for not owning a console. The joke is ultimately on them since they miss out on so many great games. How's that PC port of RDR working out for them?

I thought this was a joke thread at first. I've been browsing through the GTAV input lag thread off and on and I thought this was a response to that.

But wow, this patch is amazing. Early Christmas gift for sure.

I only had some time to experiment before work, but FPV feels really sharp, almost as good as a dedicated FPS now. I turned auto aim off completely, killed the dead zone and worked with the acceleration until drawing a bead on something felt instinctive.

Third person feels really good too. Before the patch, I hadn't played GTAV for a couple of weeks. I've been playing Ground Zeroes and when I went back to GTAV this morning without messing with the new settings, it was awful. After tweaking things a bit and killing the deadzone, it felt awesome to be able to track cars as they drive.

There's still a slight input delay that makes things feel a bit heavier than a dedicated TPS or FPS, but overall this is a night and day improvement. I almost want to start the story over again and play with the new settings.

Wow...that's excellent stuff from Rockstar. I never noticed the issues, but obviously it must have been there for them to do something.

Curious to see what the patch does later today.

Nope. You could stop taking it so seriously instead. I have now edited it to clarify it wasn't serious and if that isn't enough you should just step outside for a moment. Could probably use some fresh air to clear your head.

Reverting to insults because you got called out for being a dick? Just go away, or make your own PC thread.

Can't you already do it in third person? Pretty sure you can by holding the right analog the way you want..

You shouldn't have to hold the stick while the game keeps fighting against you to face forward. You should be able to look where you want for as long as you want. Trying to look around for my target in a chopper, as well as trying to fly, is needlessly hard because of the auto-centering camera.

There's no way they worked up the patch and got it through both MS and Sony certification in that amount of time. This has been in the works probably since launch or earlier.

The tree animation makes a big difference. I was in the woods arounf Mt. Chiliad at night when a storm came, the atmosphere was amazing.

That is annoying and thankfully not what has happened here.

Believe it or not, some of us PC gamers(probably most) actually do own consoles yet choose to play many games on PC still.

So to unlock all these seasonal pieces of stuff, do they need to be purchased from their respective stores on those days, and they will be available for later?

What they need to add is free aim lobbies where you can switch to assisted or whatever you like during missions but get thrown back into free aim when done.

"Wow 900P 30FPS? How dare they! It should be 1080P, clearly these are lazy devs."

"Wow it runs at 1080P 60FPS? They should downgrade the framerate so we can get better visuals!"

"Wow it's not available on Playstation Plus? Well I'll wait until I can get it for free from Playstation Plus!"

etc.

Guys, guys, settle down! We can ALL be terrible people!

reminds me of when UC2 released and gaf complained about the controls and ND brought some Gaffers in for tests lol (minus the gaffer part)

Feels waaaay better in first person mode now wit with the deadzone turned off.

By setting the acceleration up to full it feels smoother (I think), not really sure what it does could someone explain?

The timing is perfect because I own this on PS4 but haven't started it yet, but I loooooooooved this game on PS3 (despite not liking the previous one), and I'm already itching to play it again.
Exact same situation for me, except I have the XBO version. Glad I waited to play so it can be all patched up.
