My inner scientist always gets angry whenever I see cases of "lava only hurts you if you touch it".

But it can be epic :P
Just look at the final battle of Resident Evil 5

Think what he's talking about is giant walls and caverns of lava totally insulating people.
I imagine it's under the same rules of exception that rocks in general are with how they don't so much as leave bruises no matter how much they should be turning people to paste.

I always assumed Toph was being really nice and trying not to kill all those guys in Ba Sing Se. (And that Nick was not trying to show people being turned into paste like Kaori from Akira)

I was thinking specifically when she smashed all those guys into the ceiling really fast. She must've had to pull back on all of them at the last second.

With how durable people are in the avatarverse I doubt that would kill them, minus Jet, he had a weak ass constitution.

Yeah, but they were mooks, not heroes. Mooks gets squished, not heroes.

BUT WE'RE THINKING ABOUT THIS TOO MUCH NICK SIMPLY WOULD NEVER SHOW PEOPLE GETTING SQUISHED

and by we

I mean

me

Well if all that is the case then fine, but man. I'm just used to people shrugging shit off in the franchise. Toph blocks rocks with her head of all things.

Well, she's Toph, the greatest earthbender in history and stuff. You make allowances for massive 12 year old transcendent blind badasses like her.

I wonder how many questions that wanted to be answered by the show won't be answered and probably will never be answered outside of someone leaking the series bible.

Going to go watch The Hobbit tonight with my folks, and tonight at midnight-ish I'll be watching the Korra finale.

The chances are not in my favor that either will be satisfying lol

I feel like if it were that simple, an Earthbender would have discovered it a lot sooner.
Also, that'd mean there'd be a basic theory toit that any Earthbender could try to pick up on, instead of it being an innate ability that you either have the aptitude for or not.

Well, anyone probably could do it with enough practice, but innate ability could come into being able to making the vibrations.

Probably wont see this until saturday or whatever (curse you work for ruining my korra and smash party for tomorrow!) but I wanted say it's been a pleasure gents. I've been with this thread for 3 seasons and man has it been a ride.

I take off my top hat to you good gaffers. And off I go into the void!

I have been lurking here most of the Time, but i will be sad not to come home Fridays, watch the new Episode, and then immediatly come here to see what you Guys think about what happend, and make up new Theories about upcoming Events. It's been a ride, and i am happy that could watch it go to the End.

Thanks Guys.

Pretty much. Even when characters are supposed to be explicitly white or Japanese, there isn't much to indicate it in anime. Just by facial design alone, I wouldn't be able to tell which Code Geass characters are Japanese and which aren't. Characters from full Metal alchemist are almost entirely European and they seem like any other anime characters. Same thing with Attack on Titan.

Also, this.

Well all I know is, I look at something like Anime, and while their features are exaggerated, I still associate them as Asian, simply because of the culture and the things that make up that culture. I think race and ethnicity is not defined solely by how someone looks, And I suppose that is what kind of bugs me when people look at something like an Aang character, and project that he's white. I get that people liked to project their own culture and experiences, because it's how we relate. That's fine. But then to turn around and argue about it, and try to tell others he is white, when in the plot itself, he is in fact NOT white...that is what bothers me.

I suppose with Anime you could argue it's kind of ambiguous. Although I don't even think that's entirely true, when certain Anime takes place in Japanese cities. But whatever.

Although in something like Attack on Titan it's a plot point that they're white.

What do you call a KorraxKorra ship? It can't just be Korra. Needs to be like Koko

Korrabation.

If they specify it sure. Not everyone has to make stories that revolve around people of that region or that culture. You can be an American and write a story that takes place in Germany (and No I don't mean a World War 2 story lmao).

So do I, I suppose. The environment, mannerisms, language (unless you watching dubbed versions of things I guess), and culture are not something I've ever seen in Europe or America, so I can tell the difference based on that. But I thought we were talking about visual design itself of characters by itself. That is often up in the air.

Mikasa isn't. And though she does have slight features that hint at her asian ethnicity, I don't think she looks distinctly Asian vs the other european characters just at a glance.
