NoA: "there are more great games on Nintendo platforms than anywhere else!"

It should, but I'm guessing given they are trying to skew thing to their favor, that they are not.

Vita alone has user score games 8.5 and above:

Persona 4
Rayman Origins
Littlebigplanet
Rayman Legends
FFX
VLR
Gravity Rush

Just from a quick browse.
Yeah, strange why they arent including the Vita. It does fit all the criterias that Nintendo wrote.

List of games meeting the criteria, I'm counting 9 right now:

PlayStation 4:
The Last of Us Remastered (95 / 8.7)
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (86 / 8.5)

Xbox One:
None

PlayStation Vita:
Persona 4 Golden (93 / 9.3)
Rayman Origins (88 / 8.5)
Machinarium (88 / 8.5)
LittleBigPlanet PS Vita (88 / 8.8)
Rayman Legends (87 / 8.7)
Tearaway (87 / 9.1)
Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster (86 / 8.6)

So we don't count mp games? Because the right part of the chart say "other consoles" but it doesn't say anything about exclusivity.

That just made my friday.

Thank you.

Here are the 8.

Persona 4: Golden (Vita)
Rayman Origins (Vita)
Rayman Legends (Vita)
LittleBigPlanet Vita (Vita)
Tearaway (Vita)
FFX/FFX-2 HD (Vita)
The Last of Us Remasterd (PS4)
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (PS4)

Virtue's last Reward
Quite possibly superior on Vita, and holds a game breaking glitch on the 3DS version. The fact is, it's multi-plat. Something like this shouldn't sway someone from buying a Vita instead.

Rayman Legends
It's on 6 different platforms.

WindWaker HD
Already on Gamecube, and even better at that. The lighting was atrocious in the HD remake.

Why would they market these games with this ad? It doesn't make sense to use multi-plats, or shitty rehashes.

So checking metacritic, I'll round up the supposed 8 other games:

PS4:

Gulty Gear Xrd

Vita:

Terraria
Hotline Miami
Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster
Tearaway
Rayman Legends
Rayman Origins
Machinarium
LittleBigPlanet PS Vita

Makes 8. No XO game has both at least 85 in both critic and user reviews.

Edit: Beaten. :P And I miscounted anyway. :P

I guess we can blame PS/Xbox fanboys trolling each other.

Well at least it looks like they respected their own criteria.

Sure, that is true. I just mean strange since those Vita games fit all criterias set in the ad, while digital games doesnt.

it's because they want to target families who are going to go into stores and buy game consoles as gifts. so while they're there they need to see other physical things they can buy. that's why retail games were targeted. you can't gift wrap shovel knight.

I wouldn't say they have more great games necessarily, but their great games are usually head and shoulders above the best of the best on other platforms.

Based on metacritic and disqualifying digital games. Of course it's marketing and in this case it's good, but as an argument is just ridiculous.

I knew that tweet would lead to some major salt deposits as soon as I saw it. Barely 2 pages in and we're on the way there.

This is exactly what their messaging should be. At this point in the generation, they have the most critically acclaimed content. Partly because of the year head start, and partly because they are strictly a video game company, which gives them certain competitive advantages over the other platform holders in terms of delivering consistent quality. Main advantage being that since they don't have other divisions, they can't afford to put out shit games, so they need better QA.

They should really take it up a notch and make antagonistic commercials contrasting their critically acclaimed fun house vs. drab, joyless open world DLC grindfest #68 that you get to play on the competition. Break out the salt and really rub it in. Make a commercial where a gamer is bored to tears playing the new shooter "Serendipity" by "Parachute", is all "whatever happened to fun games?", then a fucking Mario Kart busts through the wall and Luigi hands him a copy of Smash Wii U. He pops in Smash Wii U, all of his buddies magically appear on the couch, and the commercial ends with them partying with Smash using the "Serendipity" disc as a drink coaster.

Or, send out a bland tweet that no one will read.

It's definitely true, but seeing Ninty resort to using fucking Metacritic like this makes me feel like I've lost my innocence a bit :/

It's a clever manipulation of the term "current generation" and "great games' (though I have no doubt those games are fantastic). User scores are always nuts, and obviously the years worth of a head start are working in their favor.

You could probably parse down this list to this year though, and it's still in WiiU's favor.

The "and user score" bit is so misleading. Users downvote crap all the time because they're angry about something.

Minecraft's at a 6.1. Dragon Age, 7.5. FFXIV, 7.6. And on and on.

Right, but what does that mean if none of the Nintento games have that problem/user crapping? The cynical answer is "nobody cared enough to bother", but maybe the answer is "nobody could come up with a reason to".

They are counting the Vita. Actually, 6/8 games from that list are Vita games.

They aren't manipulating "current generation" in any way.

Poor Nintendo, having to resort to a bunch of weird qualifiers to make themselves appear better than the competition. If anything, it just makes me laugh at their current position more. Why not just highlight all the great games that have come out over the past year or two rather than trying to start a pissing match? Much more effective I'd think.

Maybe now everyone can stop complaining about Donkey Kong not getting any GOTY nominations, coz Nintendo themselves just threw it under the bus.

Quality over quantity every day, month, and year. Nintendo is still king at making awesome games.

Well, I mean, when you factor in the quality and quantity of other titles from indies. I would argue that PS4 > WiiU, and PC tops them all. Also, that gap is only going to widen into 2015.

WiiU has some great titles, but this is just lulzy.
