could i make a suggestion for the next season of ranbats? i think it would be good to keep europeans with other european players and east coast americans.

the lag is quite bad for west coast america vs europe.

well i'll leave the option to SoldnerKei since he won. I know it's not a serious tournament :)

The lag spikes only started after the first two matches (we were 1-1 at this point), but I didn't feel I got to play to my potential due to the lag after that point. I SD'
ed randomly like 6 or 7 times over the final matches because I couldn't recover.

yeah, no problem SuperBowser, if you wanna continue from our 1-1 later it's fine with me, I know it's for fun, but lag it's not funny lol
since I SD too I know how it feels xD

I have been playing my ranbats at night, perhaps it's a good time too, if not then tomorrow is fine.

and I apologize Karsticles, not trying to include new rules for the ranbats or anything, glad you're ok with our agreement!

I'm not bashing you at all. Air dodging to the ground to avoid a pk thunder has nothing to do with lag, it has everything to do with you deciding to air dodge to the ground against a pkthunder, which is an automatic hit for pkthunder, based on the mechanics of this game. Most people do that right now because that was a legit way to avoid it in Brawl. Doesn't work in Smash4 though for the most part. I pointed out that specifically because you used it as an example of the lag, and your method to avoiding it really had nothing to do with lag.

Again, you can disagree with me about the lag in our games. If you think that is bad, then you probably won't want to play 90% or more of the online players. You should stick to local, as you eluded to earlier. I honestly don't care if you don't want to play me again. I am simply pointing out that your tone of your messages can be seen as a backhanded insult to your opponent.

When did I ever refer to that specific situation? One instance of my air-dodging into the ground and getting hit by your PK Thunder is not what I'm talking about when I mention difficultly timing air dodges. Mistiming the air dodge and fast fall to safe landing? That's what I'm talking about. Mistiming my monkey flip to jump past the horizontal approach? That's what I'm talking about. Mistiming the spotdodge or roll on your PK Thunder 2? That's what I'm talking about. Lag on multiple occasions delayed the start of my air dodge animation and forced me into its ending lag frames. That's what I'm talking about. Lag is what I'm talking about, my man. Please stop pretending otherwise. It is silly and callow.

You and two other GAFers I've had terrible lag with. All the others? Completely fine. I'll be sure to avoid playing games with you, yes, because your connection is bad. It just is. Saying "Well it's the same as 90% of other players" doesn't really make it better lmao. Again buddy, I'm not saying your Ness isn't good. So please stop being so defensive about my comments on LAG. I'm sure you're a great player.

"I honestly don't care about you not wanting to play with me."
You take offense really easily my man. You wanted to try the connection out again. Me saying "I'm done" is simply the follow up to your request.

Intercontinental play is not always bad. Kei and Shamrock have better matches with me than many Americans. So, it would be poor form to exclude people purely on geography. Like the rules say, if it is a problem for a lot of people, then the person will be removed from the ranbats.

As long as both players agree, it is cool.

You 2 can argue in PM's if you want. Even I suffer lag inputs. Which is what happens when Bowser suddenly Bowser Bombs off the ledge he was hanging from. >_>

edit: As a note to the bolded. You didn't indicate this the other day which is why I was bringing it up to you.
The lag is so terrible. Why is it that so many of you GAFers have terrible connections. Where are you based my man?

so you understand where I'm coming from.

There really is no offense taken. I was hoping to help change your outlook on online play but seeing as we won't agree, I will agree to drop it and I honestly hope you have fun with the game.

sure, let's try later tonight! I'm about to start night shifts so need to stay up late today anyway.

Anyone in bracket 3 wanna have our matches now?

MagiusNecros(MagiusNecros)
Malajax(Malajax)
Masked Man(kamennootoko)
Mistouze(Mistouze)
Monster Zero(KingGhidra)
MrSaturn99(Alagunder)
Out_Of_Ammo(Za_Warud0)
Phaonaut(phaonaut)
PhoenixDawn(Hyrule_Hero)

Nice man. Your sonic is the best i've ever seen
So unpredictable
Thanks dude! Your Mega Man had me pretty nervous, especially at first.

One thing I would suggest is to try and mix up your approach on the ground. You kept going for grabs a lot and that made it easier to punish you.

Out of curiosity, what is a good way to avoid pk thunder from the air?

GGs Salex. You've got some nice characters.

It's dependent on the situation. In Brawl, all you had to do was air dodge to the ground and you could shield in time before it hit. Can't do that in 4 because of the landing lag. Most people still try to air dodge to the ground. Any good Ness player knows to continuously loop the pk thunder around the character in anticipation of a dodge, so for example when I play, I am usually setting you up to hit you with the 2nd go around rather than the first. The only time air dodging to the ground works, and only sometimes, is if you have an extremely fast falling character, like Fox or Sheik.

So what do you do if you don't have a fast falling character? A few things. If the Pk Thunder is far away enough that you can fast fall to the ground, do that. Just don't air dodge. Shield immedietly when you hit the ground and there will be no lag. PK Thunder blocked.

If the Pkthunder is near you, the other option is to attack it. Most characters have several options to attack pkthunder in the air to nullify it. You just have to position yourself correctly for the attack to hit it. Easier said than done, but with practice you can achieve this method a lot.

Finally, if you find yourself being juggled by pk thunder, make a decision to move closer or away from Ness. Don't stay in the mid range area. If you move far enough away, you can eventually reach the stage before the next thunder hits. If you have the confidence and the right character, you can move near ness and take advantage of him being completely open to an attack if pkthunder doesn't hit you.

There is no magical one way to deal with pkthunder. You have to quickly assess the situation and make a decision on what to do, based on what I said above.

Anyone up for some 1v1s?

NNID: BlackMage

Also, is there a thread for the tourny? Looks like I missed it, but I'd still like to see how you guys are doing. :p

One final heads up for anyone in Bracket 5, I can play for like another hour or so, then I'm probably busy until Monday or Tuesday night.

I take note of that. You are the only Ness that I just cannot beat what so ever. Anyone bested your Ness yet?

A set off my ness, I don't think so, but various users have taken games off of him. There are a few users here that I know if we played multiple sets they would win a few. Fluxwavez comes to mind.

I'm talking about just a couple of games not the ranbat thing. I can come really close but not enough to take the game usually unless you made a mistake from taking too much risk or something. Your side character like mii brawler and PAC man I beat before but boy are you no slouch with them either. I want to play you again some day again as I love to fight great players. Got to fight flux if he can take a couple games off you.

I got you ONCE with my Yoshi, but that was on the 3DS version, aaaaaand the replay doesn't work anymore lol. I would like to try again on the U version soon.

Might be able to play someone from bracket 2 in like an hour.

Woops sorry for not noticing earlier.

I'm here now so if you're still here we can do our match!

Ha, and sorry for not being able to respond to this soon enough, because my internet started acting up again. It's fine for the most part, but sometimes it will go on d/c sprees like this and it's really frustrating. I hope things have settled for good now... If you're still here, we can do it.
