I would never in a million years claim to be better than anybody.That is not even the way I approach interactions with people. I am all about just sharing knowledge for personal and community betterment, and that includes myself. I do what I can, and I give you props for helping the youth. We need more brothers doing it.

Don't really know much about either of them, but after checking some youtube videos, the white one gotta be one of the lamest and corniest appropriations of black culture since Vanilla Ice.

I've seen it multiple times in this thread and I don't get t: how the fuck can you watch that Azealia Banks interview on Hot97 and come out a fan or liking her?

Even if you isolate the concerns she's talking about, she does it in a godawful manner and doesn't add anything but negativity to the conversation, and no, her age is not an excuse for her to use racism or irrelevant pot shots to justify her viewpoints against racism, and she blatantly plays the race card (as she has done her entire career) to rationalize her irrational tirade against Iggy and other white artists that started over a sharing a name. It's concentrated, but contrived radicalism. Tears one second, she's completely good the next.

Am I crazy or are people identifying with her vile and hypocritical viewpoints that are rooted in publicity goals and hatred? Why are people championing this shit? She's one year older than me and seems to have the maturity of someone half my age.

This. Any point she might have is lost amongst the bullshit she's spewing, and I can't speak for anyone else but I don't shift through shit for nuggets of gold.

This is almost exactly like someone linking some segment by some known racist about how he feels about race in the US and then telling people "there are nuggets of truth in what he's saying".

It's a mystery to me too.

I get that she's passionate in the interview, but...mad bigoted people were passionate and wrong as well. That shit is no excuse. lol

The main beef I have with Banks is how completely disingenuous she seems about the so called activist mantle she tries to don. On the one hand she makes a fair point about cultural appropriation, but on the other hand she's out like... Start from the bottom then up, fucking twitter

The type of dissonance you get with her message is so warped it's absurd. Nevermind calling dudes shoe shining coons, defending Bill Cosby and the fact that she burns seemingly every bridge in the industry she can get her hands on. Nothing about her to me seems to indicate any level of genuine concern beyond getting that attention.

Fuck Iggy too, she's got her own issues, but absolutely none of them have caused any problems to Banks' career that she didn't start herself. That girl is toxic, and the message she brought in that interview while worth talking about feels best discussed in a civil manner away from her vitriol.

Finally on the Grammys...who fucking cares. The Grammys are decided by old white people who don't know shit about multiple genres of music - especially rap and metal. Elton John could release a rap album and win best rap album because the voters would be familiar with him. I remember in 2006 or 2007 when Ludacris won best rap album over The Roots' Game Theory, one of the best rap albums of the decade. They don't know shit about rap, who gives a shit. And yes, Iggy will probably win multiple awards because the voters "know" her and can identify with her. I don't care.
