To be honest, something like a Glock isn't a very good starter gun. For the price of a Glock you could probably get a Mossberg 500 shotgun AND a Rugar 10/22 which are much better starter guns.

Correct. My friends wife is an agent for USPS and she can legally carry her gun in NYS. And she HAS to carry on duty (She has a sweet Sig Sauer something or other)

Lol op, a coworker once told me to follow him home and wait outside. He then came out and handed me a Mauser rifle and said it's yours. Went home and felt weird as shit haha. Then a friend convinced me to buy an AK lol. Go to your local gun range and ask questions or take classes. It took me a couple of weeks to get familiar and comfortable with guns before even buying ammo. Finally shot them last week and had a blast. Who knows you might enjoy it. It also helps if you have a friend who owns guns.

Well I think America is definitely underreporting the number of criminals in the US if that's all there is to it.

As I originally stated, getting a gun in the US is so damn simple (after all there are more guns in the US than people), making enforcing half of these gun laws pointless (like NY's). You stated you NEED FFL to get a gun in NY. You don't. Is it adviseable to do such? No, is that stopping people? Nope. If you told me that 10-20% of gun owners in NY weren't legally owned...would anyone really be shocked?
