LOL Like you can prevent a DDOS. I see everyone wants to dogpile Sony and not even realize XBL is going through the same thing. It's a combination of attacks plus high traffic due to Christmas.
 
Oh man, flat out lost connection to the PSN server on the menu.

If anyone is playing FFXIV right now on PSN, stay the fuck logged in.

I think we all get it. The question is whether or not it's acceptable. I'm not affected by this because I'm not trying to download anything or play online. I do however think it's shitty that for potentially hundreds of thousands of people their first ps4 experience is going to be an error message when they try to download their free bundled game. Christmas is always a problem with or without so called 'hackers'. Both companies need to step up their game during the holidays. Anticipate the load and react accordingly.

Go to the PS4 settings menu and uncheck the "Connect to the Internet" option under Network. It should work without needing to go online.

(just tried this with MGS Ground Zeroes)
 
I turned on my Vita and all my games are gone. I have no idea how this happened. I can't connect to the store to re download them either, which is probably due to this. Worst part is that ALL of my save data has probably been erased from ALL of my games. That's hundreds of hours. What in the name of fuck?

Are you sure? I've been playing all morning. The only thing I can't do is login to the EA crap (no big deal), and I can't play multiplayer. Single player works fine and doesn't require any internet.

probably a loose memory card, that happened to me weeks ago and I nearly freeked out only to find out the memory card was loose. Powered the Vita down pushed the memory card in tight and all my data wae there again.

Do you have back ups from PS+ at the very least to spare some of the heartache?

Oh, that worked! My games are back now. Nearly gave me a heart attack. Now I just hope this connection problem goes away and I can sign in and renew playstation plus before my subscription expires. If it expires, does all your saves from your free PS+ games go away? How does that work?
 
So, got some games for Christmas, trying to play them.

Downloading 1.4gb GTAV update: 9 minutes remaining
Downloading 2.5gb Destiny update: 9 hours remaining

Why is Destiny's so much slower? More people trying to get it?
 
This is what happens when people buy consoles over the span of two months but don't use/open them until the same 24 hour period. Ugh, Christmas.

Naw you keep your saves, don't know the exact time frame but your sub can fully run out and you can renew it without having to worry about losing saves. I allowed my plus to run out and did not renew it until a few days later and all my saves was still intact. You keep your PS plus games as long as you are subscribed they will be playable.

lol it was fun getting to work a few Christmas Noobs on BF4 this morning before PSN crashed for me. Its weird that you can still see people streaming online without being effected. I already know about the stay loggee in trick and I was but got knocked off.
 
Just bought a ps4 2 days ago and can't sign in to psn to use my account. Xmas server loads ftl. I like the OS so far from what I've seen though.

welcome aboard, its a amazing console when the network isn't gone to crap. I mainly game online and rarely do campaigns so I absolutely hate to see PSN go down.

It's usually because one download gets a more priority speed than the other. You can pause one to make the other go faster, and then resume download so that one zips along as well.

Try taking your own advice, I'm on about the frequency with which it has issues. Or should I be happy that I've been having problems consistently for the last 4 months? And it's not just me either cos there have been countless threads on here about it.
 
Busy day of the year, lots of large files downloading, emotions aside it's understandable, xbox live or psn.. They cannot pro - actively build for the sheer mass of consoles switching on for 1 day of the year, it's irrational/not productive to over compensate cost effectively for 1 offs however inconveniencing.

I get that yesterday's and today's issue are most likely due to increased traffic, but is there really nothing that can be done in advance if there is the same problem every year? It feels like every other week I can't access my digital games, good thing I still have some games on disc otherwise this thing would just be a giant paper weight. Fuck Sony.

To the guy above me, have you been living under a rock the past few months? Granted it doesn't affect everyone but there have been so many issues in the past few months with PSN. It goes offline whenever someone sneezes.

I started Destiny first. It was alone and still at 9 hours after 30 minutes. Then I started GTAV also and it went fast.

it's not always having issues; also not every other week. More like almost never.

You should never be locked out of your digital games.

Apparently you can play those games offline if you make it your main console. from what the message told but I can't get online to do so and or find where that option is at
