LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

Point is he shouldn't have to do that. A pop up that informs the user of the issue and simple click that says ok I understand would be ideal. You can tell this OS is still in production.

Right. It would be nice to have that option.

But the OS isn't in "production" because it doesn't offer the best-case-scenario user experience while the service is undergoing a massive DDOS attack.

If you're new to PSN on PS4 then I'd just get used to it being down sporadically. It's shit even when not getting attacked.
...I've never had issues playing online when it's not being attacked. Messages have the wrong time stamp, but playing games only seems to stop working during this DDoS crap (and once when Destiny released). Maybe it's your internet?

I'm able to sign into XBL but Dragon Age Inquisition will not download its title update :(

This is so stupid.

Also, this is pathetic that hackers, whatever age they are, can take down major gaming networks such as XBL and PSN. Really sad that those major companies can't protect their networks from stupid hackers.

Persistence. I finally signed in after 5 attempts, and then opening hulu too another 3 open and quit tries. But I'm online and watching Master Chef again.

On the one hand I'm very happy to have got a PS4 for Christmas today, on the other hand I'm very happy to still have my PS2 up and running. Sucks that this has probably took the edge of what is supposed to be a fun day for many, again and again the current 'online' fascination bites people on the arse.

I understand that but it shouldn't have to keep calling the servers and hanging. After a certain period there should be a timeout then a switch is invoked within the os itself informing the user. A quick acknowledgement and you proceed to offline functionality. Now you have the option to initiate login whenever you're ready and it will then proceed once again to contact the servers. Rough write up by me but I would think you get it. Even in Windows Microsoft does some weird shit thats a head scratcher.

PSN is down I think

Can't log in

Are you serious? You sure about that?

Everyone keeps calling them kids but it doesn't say much about these companies being able to have these big paid services taken down by kids. They need to improve their shit this is ridiculous

Not really had any problems here (UK). Son played a ton of FIFA and redeemed PSN codes he got for Christmas, and then we watched Frozen on NowTV on Xbox one. Sounds shitty though, and really messed up to do it on Christmas day.

My question is, why aren't the real hackers destroying these clowns?

There has to be someone with some integrity in the hacking community. Or maybe just someone who wants to put these children in their place (prison).

You can literally pay people to DDoS for you now. Of course kids can take it down if they can pay for it or even get the easy tools they need to do it. Any big paid service can be taken down if you put enough strain on it.

Guys this is pretty offtopic but I just bought a 50 dollar PSN code from Amazon with a different account I normally use. And now they just gave me this message after buying the code:

Sorry, processing is taking longer than expected.
Please do not reorder this item.
Some Game and Software downloads go through extra verification that may take up to 2 hours.
This process is in place to prevent unauthorized orders on your account.

What do I do now?

Amazon has really great customer support I'd open up a chat. Or wait 2 hours.

Sad part is some of these script kiddies are in their 30s and up.

Just wait. It is pretty normal.

Since both PSN and XBL are having issues, do we know for sure it's these little douchebags causing the problem? It s Chrsitmas Day, and tons of consoles have been sold.

Is this why ground zeroes freezes at the main menu on the ps4? 'cause i know it checks the konami servers for updates and leaderboards around that time.

last of us remastered doesn't seen to want to start either

They know at this stage, no excuse for naivety. Presumably they've made a decision that the cost of extra capacity required to reduce the threat of malicious attacks causing disruption isn't worth it just for preventing the inconveniencing of customers for a few days in the year. It's happening to both console manufacturers and steam as well so the only one with a competitive advantage in the field is the least online dependent console which happens to be selling the worst (Wii U) which would be noted as an indication that consumers aren't willing to spend money out of concern for this issue.

Um, prior to this current attack keeping it offline, i haven't had PSN issues since August. The one day it was messed up in August was the first time it was messed up since I bought my PS4 in February.

I just logged into XBL again. Other parts of it are not working very well. It took a few tries for it to sync my Sunset Overdrive save.
