If Sony does anything after this is over it should be switching the PS4 DRM back to the way the PS3 was, so at least people can access their digital games when this shit happens.

This. In my experience so far this gen XBL hasn't really been much more reliable than PSN. In fact, they took many steps backward due to the brilliant decision to isolate the party chat and other crucial functions as separate apps from the OS, meaning that any network issues like people having NAT problems and such have made certain system functionality much worse than it was last gen. Granted that's an OS problem more than an XBL problem, but the overall effect is the same in the fluidity of using the system, and anything that causes problems with online functionality (party chat, connecting to other people's games) reflects negatively on XBL even if it's caused by the OS itself.
That's to say nothing of how ridiculous download times are on XBL compared to PSN. I downloaded a full retail game on PS4 several magnitudes faster than a comparably-sized game on XB1.
In my mind XBL and PSN are on pretty even footing right now to be honest, even if PSN does stay down a little longer than XBL.
Not once, not a single time, have I said how people SHOULD be reacting. I've said there are alternatives to games and/or gaming online.
But I haven't said 'you should feel like X' or 'you shouldn't be upset', just that the heights it has reached are a bit ridiculous to me personally. I've said that I think some of the levels of reactions are absurd. Voicing an opinion. But no, I'm not really surprised about some of the reactions. There's a lot of over-reaction about everything these days, not just on this subject.
True, but going back through dozens of pages and pulling quotes for each and every one of the over-the-top reactions isn't really worth the hassle. If people can't see the distinction between me saying that *some* of the reactions are absurd and saying *everyone* is absurd (which I haven't done), then it is what it is.

It will for you primary console. Go into PSN section of the settings and make it your primary. I have been playing COD AW campaign all day.
Edit: answered above.
Console is probably not set to primary PS4.
Next time you can sign in change it in settings.

You should check that the console is set to offline mode too though. Others have said that if it's even connected to the internet at all it won't load digital games they've purchased (not sure about disc-based ones) and that they had to switch the console to offline mode and/or disconnect from their modem/router entirely so that it would stop trying to ping the servers or whatever. I'm not at home or I could confirm better.
Mind you I'm not an expert so I'm paraphrasing brutally there.

The attack causes things to fail etc so it has to be fixed. MS have more servers due to having more things then just a console. So they can deal with the attack a little better.

Still can't stop it tho. So add a DDos attack and the high number of new people trying to sign on, it makes the problem worse. They basically did it at the perfect time.

They do this because it's there way of getting back at society. I would put all my money on them being a group of outcast loners, who get off on annoying people. Can't wait til there 30+, still locked behind a desk with little social interaction with there biggest achievements including Dodssing a few Companies.
I got that error when trying to play Da:I. Just had to pause updates and let the game download completely and it worked perfectly.

naw i was getting it when I had Guilty Gear up but it wasnt loading all the way and stopped for some odd reason. took my eather net cord out and turned my console off for 1 minute or so and it cleared up
I just turned off connection to the internet and now it does work. Very strange.

It's nothing to do with getting back at society. It's no different from the people who troll twitter sending foul tweets to people in the public eye, it's just anynonimus bashing for the hell of it. Disruptive and distructive. Same reason kids smash up derelict buildings or set cars on fire. Blame the parents for raising kids without basic morals.
