Actually I'd like to think that at least for some of us the key difference is the reason. If that was a freak accident then it'd just being grumpy, though possibly angry if someone knocked it down or it was something long due for an upgrade, and if you failed to pay the bill that's on you anyway. But if it was a deliberate, malicious attack I think many of us would probably be that angry... with whoever was enough of a shithead to think that was a remotely good idea.

Depending on how he filed and where, it doesn't necessarily mean he's broke. He could just be in financial distress. Filing Bankruptcy would allow him to restructure his debt to follow an easier payment plan specifically to avoid going completely broke.
